Car Key Lost in the Sand – Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I was on my way home from doing an interview for a local news station about The Ring Finders when I received a call from Brian. Brian was visiting from Charlotte with his family and he wasn’t sounding real happy! He said his little brother, Maury had been doing a little late evening partying on the beach and had their mother’s car and other keys. Partying with keys on the beach late at night usually doesn’t end well as it was in this case. I got the location and headed in his direction.

I got there in about 20 minutes and got to meet Maury who was keeping a real low profile. It was either because of the partying last night or because he had a whole family pretty upset with him! It was more likely the latter because the family, at least 7 of them, was going to have to fit into 1 car with all the luggage and drive four plus hours back to Charlotte to get the spare set of keys. Then a couple of them turn back around, drive back to North Myrtle Beach get the 2nd car and drive back to Charlotte. I had to get this young man out of the dog house. Luckily mom (Saundra) pretty much knew the area the keys were lost in because the family had been out trying to sift through the sand with their hands to find the keys. I made about 4 passes on my grid search and got a big signal, too big and too deep for the loss keys. Dug it out and I believe it was one of Maury’s “beverage” cans. I ran my coil over and next to the hole and got another signal, one scoop and there they were. I held the keys up for Saundra to see and I think she did a little dance. I know Maury was feeling much better and probably relieved he would get to be inside the car on the ride home.

Saundra and Brian, it was great meeting you and your family today, you’re an awesome bunch!!! Maury good luck to you buddy. Take this as a “good” lessons learned and stay out of trouble. You all have a safe trip home and thank you so much for trusting in me to help find your keys.

Man’s Tungsten Wedding Band Lost in the Surf – Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got an email, followed up by a phone call, from Joe G. visiting here with his family from Ohio. Joe said he had lost his Tungsten wedding band in the surf and was wondering if I could help find it. I got the details, told him I’d be there in 20 minutes and asked him to alert the gate guard that I’d be coming.

When I got there Joe’s dad, Russell, was waiting at the gate to escort me to the beach area. Shortly after Russell and I got to the approximate area, Joe showed up and put me just about dead on the spot. On my 2nd pass I got the signal but on my third scoop I was wondering if I had Joe’s ring because this was deeper than I thought it should be in this short amount of time. I flattened out the sand I had scooped and saw the outline of a ring, brushed it off and it was the right one!!! Joe and Russell were both amazed we found it. Joe’s wife Maria and his mother were looking down from the resort balcony as Joe waved that we had it.

Joe and Maria, thank you so much for trusting in me to help find your lost treasure. Enjoy your last night in town and have a safe trip back home.

Man’s Tungsten Wedding Band Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

After having two unsuccessful ring hunts today, one being on a golf course and the other “possibly” lost in the wet sand two days ago, I was ready for a change in luck. As I was leaving the beach on the second hunt I checked my e-mail and saw mail from Philip N. saying he lost his Tungsten Wedding band in about 2 foot of water earlier in the afternoon and wondered if I could help find it. I e-mailed him back saying I was on my way and to call me.

About five minutes out Philip called and we agreed to meet on the beach. As I’m walking out on the beach I see a young man walking along the surf line looking a little desperate, we greeted and I had him explain what had happened. He said he and his friends had been throwing a ball around when his ring flew off his finger. This is never a good thing because judging the flight of a ring isn’t always possible especially in the ocean. I told him that he didn’t need to stick around and to go ahead and get some dinner with his buddies and that I’d call “when” I found it. I started my grid search a good 15 feet outside his suspected area and on my second pass in knee deep water, I got a banging signal. I think the search and recovery time was 2-3 minutes. I walked off the beach and across the street to the rental house they were staying in. Philip and a few of his buddies were sitting out on the balcony wondering why I was finished so quickly. As I held up my finger with his ring on it, I asked him if his ring looked like this. I think he literally flew down the stairs.

Philip thank you for contacting me and trusting in me to find and return your ring. Sorry I didn’t get the opportunity to meet your wife but I’m sure she was excited to hear the good news!!! Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Lady’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Sand – Found and Returned at Ocean Isle Beach, NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I received a late night email from Kristina on May 2nd telling me she had lost her wedding band on the beach at Ocean Isle during spring break (Apr 12th). She said if I thought it was worth it she could email me a map with the exact spot and to let her know if I was interested in helping. It was after midnight when I responded telling her that it was always worth it to at least take a shot at looking. I also included some questions in my response like where on the beach, what day, etc.

When I woke up the next morning I checked my emails and I had her response to my questions and that she’d send me a map a little later that morning. I got her map around 9am that had a satellite view of the beach with a little red dot marking the spot she lost it so I hit the road. Got to the beach, found the vicinity of the red dot on the beach and started a north/south grid in the dry sand. I think it was the 5th line when I got a good solid hit, dug and shook a scoop of sand and there was her little gold wedding band bout a size 5-6. She had also given me an inscription on the inside of the ring which I confirmed and we had a match. I sent her an email from my phone with a picture saying “Bingo” and she immediately called me. I could tell by her voice she was overwhelmed about getting her ring back. Got her treasure in the mail and it’s expected to arrive by Friday.

Wanted to wait until today (Friday) to post this so I could get a picture with her big smile.

Kristina – thank you so much for trusting in me to help find your ring and get it getting it back to where it belongs.

FITBIT Lost North Myrtle Beach – Found and Returned

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I was out the other day doing a little metal detecting and not finding a whole lot until I came across a FITBIT laying in the sand. It had to be lost within the last hour so I hung around for a while hoping the owner would show back up. Later that night I posted it on Craigslist and after 4 days I didn’t get any response.

Fast forward to today when I contacted the FITBIT customer service department and found out that I can ship the FITBIT back to them, at their expense, and they can trace the serial number back to the original owner. So off it went and hopefully by this time next week the FITBIT will be back where it belongs.

Man’s 14K White Gold Wedding Band Lost – Found and Returned Ocean Isle Beach, NC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a call just before 3pm from Katie, here on vacation with her husband, James and their two sons from NY.  Katie asked if I could help find James’ wedding band that he lost in the soft sand at Ocean Isle Beach, NC. I asked a few of the normal questions and was on my way.

I got there in about 30 minutes and met James and Katie as they were walking out on the beach. They showed me the area and I started my grid search. On the third pass I got a great tone, looked up at them and gave them a big smile and dug a scoop. After spreading out the soft sand a couple of times I finally eyeballed the ring, picked it up and handed it to James, who was very happy he had his treasure back.

Thank you Katie and James for trusting in me to help find your lost ring and the generous gift. Have a great rest of your vacation and a safe trip back home.

Lost Key FOB Lost in the Sand – Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a phone call around 8:15pm from my son-in-law (Donnie), a NMB policeman, about a lady who had lost her Key FOB on the beach. A few minutes later he texted me her phone number. I contacted Dana and found out the details of what happened with her keys . She said she was sitting on the beach and decided to go into the water to take some pictures of her daughters from an ocean view. After coming out of the water and walking back to her car she realized she didn’t have her key FOB any longer. She wasn’t sure whether she lost them on the walk out on the beach, in the area she was sitting or in the water. This all happened about 7:30pm with an incoming tide. I asked her if she’d like for me to come out and see if I could find them, she agreed and I was on my way. She really didn’t have many options considering a spare FOB was at home with her husband which is about 7 hours away.

I met Dana, her father, and 2 daughters in one of the public access parking lots and we walked out to the beach. By now it was a little after 9pm so I was concerned the keys might be under water. I told her I’d follow her out to where she thought the keys were at swinging the detector as we walked. We stopped about 25 yards from the access and she said this is about where she had been sitting, two swings over the area and bingo!!! Took a scoop of sand out of the hole, shook it over the ground and reached down, picked up her keys and handed them to her. She was in total disbelief.

Dana, thank you for trusting in me to help you find you lost keys, although not a diamond or gold ring, at the time that FOB was priceless.

Lady’s White Gold Wedding & Engagement Rings Lost, Recovered and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a call a little after 11am today from Jamil from NY asking if I could help find his wife’s two rings in the sand. This was another lost ring call from Myrtle Beach so I called Matt Fry, the TRF for Myrtle Beach. Matt and I discussed the situation and he told me to go ahead and take the call. I called Jamil back and let him know I was on my way.

I met Jamil and his wife, Khatira on the beach with their 2 small children. Khatira told me she had taken her rings off and placed them in her lap, forgot them and stood up causing her rings to fly into the soft sand. After about 10 mins of searching, getting the lifeguard to move an umbrella and chairs I got the first tone and scooped up her engagement ring. A few more passes with the detector and I got the second tone and scooped up her wedding band. A very happy and relieved couple!

Jamil and Khatira, thank you for trusting me to find your lost treasure and for the very generous gift. Have a great time with the rest of your vacation and a safe trip back home.

Please watch the video of the recovery below.

Tungsten Wedding Band Lost in the Sand – Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

James called me about 5:30pm tonight saying he lost his wedding band in the sand and wondered if I was available to help find it. While we were talking I found out the resort they were staying at was in Myrtle Beach which is TRF Matt Fry’s area. I called Matt and he told me to go ahead and take the call.

Got to the location in about 25 minutes and met James and his wife Angelia on the beach who are vacationing with their family from Canada. James pointed out the area and I started my grid search. About half way through my second pass I get the “tone”. Bingo, dug a scoop and saw his ring laying in the sand, picked it up, blew it off and handed it back to James. Their excitement of getting his ring back is what it’s all about.

James and Angelia, thank you very much for trusting in me to help find your ring and your generous gift. Have a very safe trip home tomorrow!!

14K Men’s Wedding Band Lost in the Ocean for 2 months – Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach, SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I had orginally gotten a call on August 11th, 2016 from Jeff H. stating he had lost his wedding band in the ocean which turned out to be right at mid-tide. He went on to say he had been in and out of the ocean over the course of a few hours and wasn’t really sure when, where or how deep he was when it slipped off his finger. I was just wrapping up another ring find with Jim Brouwer and was waiting for the couple to come back to the beach to get their ring when Jeff called. Jim agreed to go ahead and head to Jeff’s resort and start looking and I followed soon after.

When I got to the resort Jim already had a grid search going from the mid tide line seaward so I started a grid search at the current tide line and worked seaward. After a few hours, the tide turned, we weren’t having any luck and it was getting dark and neither one of us had our head lamps so we called it quits. I made at least 3 maybe 4 more trips out and searched north/south and east/west grids and felt really confident that I had covered the area as well as I could.

Fast forward to Hurricane Mathew, we didn’t get the sand movement on the beach that we (the guys that metal detect) had hoped for but we did have some. There’s 3 lost rings that I had gotten calls on this summer that I haven’t found yet so I thought this would be a good opportunity to give each one another shot. Jeff’s ring was number 2 on my list so I had planned on going out this week for one last crack at it. Oddly enough, Jeff text me Saturday evening (Oct 15th) asking “did the hurricane wash up my ring?” We text back and forth and I let him know I was going to give it one more shot. Shortly after we finished I contacted my son-in-law Donnie and asked if he was available to help find this ring sometime this week. We set it up to search at low tide Monday (Oct 17th). I got there maybe 10 minutes before Donnie and was working a grid from the middle of the resort north and from the wet sand to about chest deep in the ocean. When Donnie showed up I had him start his grid from the south side of the resort and work north to the middle, this way our machines wouldn’t be interfering with each other and we could cover the area quickly before the tide turned. I was digging a target in the wet sand within 10 minutes of Donnie starting his grid search when he walked up behind me and dropped a ring on the sand at my feet. I looked at it and couldn’t believe he’d found Jeff’s ring after 2 months in the ocean. We confirmed the inscription on the inside of the ring with what Jeff had told me and BINGO, we had a match!

I took a picture of the ring and text Jeff and then called him. In his own words he was speechless. I’ll never know whether the hurricane helped move enough sand or the extra low tide helped us get out to the deeper ocean but nonetheless Jeff has his ring back where it belongs. Along with the picture he sent me of him and his wife, Michelle, he also sent me the picture with their hands together titled “back together”. There’s nothing more I can add!

Donnie, thank you for all your help and making it possible to get this ring home.

Jeff and Michelle, thank you for trusting in me to help find your treasure. Best of luck to you both!!
