I recently received a call from Emily in Richmond, Texas, about a ring that had been missing for over two years.
This wasn’t just any ring—it had belonged to her great-grandmother and had been passed down through her family. Emily believed she had accidentally dropped it in the narrow strip of grass near the street in front of her home. She searched for hours when it happened but eventually accepted that the cherished heirloom was gone forever.
Then, more than two years later, she came across a story about someone recovering a lost ring with the help of a professional metal detectorist.
“I didn’t even know a service like this existed,” she told me.
The following day, I stopped by her home in Richmond, and after she showed me the area where she believed the ring had been lost, the search began.

Phillip contacted Houston Metal Detecting Services after losing both his wedding ring and a gold signet ring while preparing his yard for the Fourth of July.
Like many people, Phillip removes his rings before doing yard work to protect them. He places them on a gold chain around his neck while mowing. After finishing both the front and back yards in the Texas heat, he noticed the clasp on his necklace had come undone—and both rings were gone.
He spent hours searching the yard without success and wasn’t even sure whether the rings had been lost in the front yard or the backyard.
After finding Houston Metal Detecting Services and The Ring Finders online, Phillip gave me a call.
We began our search in the backyard, where the detector quickly located his gold signet ring. A short time later, another solid signal led us to his wedding band. Both rings had been recovered and returned to their rightful owner!

I was contacted this evening by Brittanie who said she was needing help finding her lost wedding ring. Brittanie said she had just finished doing some yard work in her backyard when she discovered her ring was missing. Brittanie said she had been pulling some weeds and tossing them over the fence into an open field. Brittanie said, she noticed that her ring was gone moments later and was sure it was either in the backyard or just over the fence.

100 year old Gold pocket watch and two sentimental bracelets.

I was contacted by a homeowner who said she was searching  the internet for information on how to rent and or use a metal detector. The homeowner said she came across “The Ring Finders” on the web and placed the call.

The homeowner said her mothers home had recently burned, and they were preparing to sell the house. She said before doing such, she desperately wanted to find a very important family heirloom, her fathers Gold Pocket Watch. The homeowner said, she was sure the watch and few other precious family heirlooms had been placed in the attic several years back, when the home was threatened by rising flood waters.

The homeowner said following the fire, a decision was made to sell the home and find an alternate living place. She said, she could not let go of the hope that even after all of the destruction of the fire she might find her fathers pocket watch.

I met with the homeowner at the residence in Houston today to search for the lost pocket watch and the two other sentimental bracelets. The fire had devastated the interior of the home, and with a close examination of the remaining structure it appeared solid enough to conduct the search.

I received a phone call today from Linda regarding her lost gold and diamond earring in the front lawn of her residence. Linda said she had lost her earring yesterday while walking across her front lawn to meet a neighbor at curbside. Linda said she had jumped over some short vegetation just prior to entering the grassy area of her front lawn. Linda said she had felt her earring come loose from her ear and then land some where in the grass.

Linda said she spent some time looking in the grass but could not find her missing earring. Linda said a short time later she posted a request on Facebook to borrow a metal detector. Linda said a short time later one of her friends responded to her post and forwarded her my information.

I met Linda at her residence this afternoon and we did a walk through of the events leading to the loss of her earring. Linda had the matched missing earring and I used it to refine my search with the CTX3030.

I was contacted on Sunday by Wendell regarding his lost wedding ring. Wendell said he had been burning some debris on his property a few days ago when a small ember of hot ash had landed on his hand. Wendell said he felt the burning ember on his hand, and in an effort to dislodge it, he shook his hand aggressively. Wendell said he was pretty sure that’s when his wedding ring of 40 plus years went flying through the air.

05/11/2015

I met Wendell at his property today in Southeast Houston to look for the missing ring. Wendell demonstrated how and were the event had occurred and outlined a specific area he believed the ring had landed.

We set out to find his ring, and after a few minutes of searching it was clear the ring was not in the described location. I began marking shallow targets (I use orange painted skewers) to identify previous examined spots, keeps me from looking at them again on the cross cut of the grid search.

I pushed the search out well beyond where Wendell believed his ring would be found, and in the opposite direction. A few minutes later, a good signal from the CTX3030 and the sight of a large yellow gold ring sitting under the search coil.

I was glad to see Wendell back in possession of his wedding ring of 40 years, I think his smile says the rest.
