*** Brooke called me from Fontana, CA. Earlier she had been at the beach in front of the Montage Hotel Resort, Laguna Beach, CA. Brooke didn’t realize she had lost her very sentimental silver necklace with a pendant, most likely in the sand.

She was already 45 miles away  and it would be dark soon. Even if she could get to the location, she didn’t have access to a metal detector or any experience operating a detector.

When she told the location, I knew I could get there without her meeting me at the spot. Basically she said they had been sitting 8 ft from the only lifeguard tower at the bottom of the stairway. The necklace was on the edge of the towel. So, it most likely came off when she picked up her beach gear.

I was at the location about a half hour after the call. Tide was still rising and the sun was setting. Brooke’s directions help make this another quicky recovery. Her mother drove Brooke the 45 miles the next morning to pick up the important keepsake.

*** Mathew called me after someone saw him searching for his Gold Wedding that he lost in the grass. He was at a local neighborhood soccer field watching his daughter play. His ring slipped off his finger after he had put sunscreen on his daughter.

The loss occurred in deep grass where he was sitting on the side lines. The ring could not have gone more than10 feet from his chair because he had not been actively throwing or moving his arms much. The soil was very wet under the grass and if the ring got stepped on, it was certainly not visible.

Matthew called me after locating my services online. It took me an hour to drive to Culver City, one of many cities in the county of Los Angeles.

The ring was found shortly after I met him at the field. It was actually as I suspected, out of sight in muddy roots of the grass under his chair.

Another happy person that was relieved to have his ring back where it belongs. The recovery took less than one and a half hours from the time Mathew called me.

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Metal Detectors can find all types of metal call Stan the Metal Detector Man if you need information to help, find your lost metallic item.. Call or Text ..   Stan  .. 949-500-2136

*** Steve and his family, from Utah, were vacationing at a SoCal Beach when he lost his tungsten wedding ring. The loss happened when he was throwing a football. He did feel the ring come off his finger the moment it happened, which is always nice to know before going on a search. Often we get calls where the person thinks the ring was lost because they had been playing football. They only think that’s where it came off their finger.

Steve’s first question to me was, can a metal detector detect tungsten rings? I told him yes and proceeded to ask him to wait at the location. I would be there within 30 minutes to find his ring.

This time of year traffic and parking are not a problem. We met on the beach where Steve and his had still enjoying their day in the Southern California sunshine. I set up a grid search area of 40ft. x 40ft because heavy mens rings are subject to go much further than most people understand.

We were lucky to start on the best side of the grid layout which the recovery fast. It gets a little frustrating to search a large area and not find the item until you’re just about to run out of possible search area.

Steve was very appreciative and told me he had no idea that this type service existed. One of my goals is to inform the public that there are experienced metal detector professionals that can find lost sentimental items. It was my pleasure to meet Steve and to be available to help him.

*** I was parked at Newport Beach pier eating lunch in my car, when I received a call from Hau. His wife had dropped her Platinum wedding band in the sand at Balboa Beach two miles away from where I was parked.

He told me they had been searching the sand for almost two hours with no success. I always have my detector in my car, so I could meet them in 15 minutes.  I didn’t need to ask very many questions after they said it was in a small area where they were sitting.

I  drove directly to a parking space less than 25 yards from where they waited for me. It was another quick recovery, probably less than 10 minutes after turning on my metal detector.

They were very happy to have the ring recovered. Hau said, he was impressed at how fast I was able to get to his location. It’s not always like that, in the summer it can take as long as an hour just to find a parking place.

Don’t waste time, call ASAP.. I’m available to answer your questions .. We can usually tell if your loss can be found with my equipment. “I WILL TRY ANYWHERE”

Cellphone Lost During a Car Accident .. Found One Month Later with a Metal Detector

Detecting service available to help you find important lost items… Stan the MetalDetector Man ..Call or text  949-500-2136

***  I received a text message from the parents, whose daughter was involved in an auto accident more than 4 weeks ago.  Their daughter’s phone was lost on the roadside and they had the location pin from the Find My phone app, They made a couple unsuccessful trips searching an area just off the side of pacific coast highway across from Bolsa Chica Beach.

I was sent a text with latitude / longitude coordinates that were taken just after the accident. He told me it was very important to retrieve the phone. I entered the co ordinates in my gps device. The next day I drove to the general location and was able to locate phone using my metal detector.

Cellphones often get picked up by pedestrians in public areas because they can’t hide as well as smaller objects. I’m getting more confident finding cellphones if they have an active Find My phone app and it shows battery life with a gps location.

I sent a text message with a photo of the phone. The parents texted me back with a location to meet and pick up the phone. This recovery was done completely by texting messages and It wasn’t necessary for them to meet me at the location of the loss.  I do not always need a person to meet me at the search location, if they have gps co ordinates.   Sometimes I know the area well enough to save clients the trouble of meeting me. Of course it’s always better to have them see how thorough I search and understand how a professional metal detecting search is performed.

Huntington Beach Lost Ring in Volleyball Court .. Found

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

** Steth lost his new gold wedding band on or near the volleyball court in Huntington City Beach. He was smart enough to take it off before playing volleyball. Steth tied the ring to a safety string and slipped it in the pocket of his swim suit. After playing for a couple hours. He checked the pocket and the string had become un-tied from the ring. The ring was not in the pocket either.

He knew the loss had to happen on the sand near the volleyball court because he had not left the area. Two hours later he returned with an inexpensive  metal detector. An hour into his search his friend recommended that he call the metal detector man.

I met Steth shortly after the call because he was only a few miles away from where I live. Ten minutes into the search I had a successful recovery of his new wedding ring, he had only been married two weeks. He was certainly saved from having to explain this to his new wife.

** Alex and his family are vacationing at Newport Beach, CA. They come every year from Washington state to enjoy our weather and the sandy beaches. This time the sandy beach was not friendly to Alex. His young daughter had his IPhone and it got lost in the sand the first afternoon of their vacation.

When Alex called me it was 8:30 pm. He told me the find my phone app was showing that the phone was still charged and he had the pinned location marked. I told him I could do a night search to eliminate the areas that the beach cleaning machines would be working in the early AM morning hours.

After 3 hours that night the cellphone was no where near the latitude / longitude co ordinates that Alex gave me.

The next morning I returned to search outside the area search last night. After one more hour the cellphone showed up under my metal detector coil. It was more than 60 ft. away from the co ordinates given by the find my phone app. We think the phone was too deep to give an accurate pin mark.?

There’s a lot to learn about using the co ordinates to find a phone. I stayed positive about finding the phone because he could see battery power was still at a 60% and had only lost 5% in the last 5 hours. More experience was gained and best of all Alex was happy to have his phone back.. It is important to anyone reading this to remember to have all your phones backed up..

Cellphones are important to most of us. I have experience finding these but we need to get to the general location ASAP .. If lost in a public location.  Contact me for information about our chances of finding your lost phone..

Huntington Dog Beach Diamond Ring Recovered from Sand by Stan the Metal Detector Man

*** I was coming off the beach near Huntington Dog Beach when I was approached by Logan. I expected him to ask me the million dollar question. “ What’s the best thing you have ever found?”  Beach detectorist get that question many times a day.

This time was different, Logan’s wife, Liz had just dropped her white gold diamond ring minutes before he spotted me coming off the beach. He asked for help to find it. She told me that she felt it come off and it was a white gold diamond ring.  It should have been a quick recovery, but she did not tell me it was designed as an open ring.  ( open rings, such as toe rings do not give good signals )

A quick scan of the 10’ x 10’ area didn’t produce a decent signal. I cross gridded the small area getting a broken faint signal. I dug it with my sand scoop just to clear the area of trash. To my surprise, BOOM ! In the bottom of my sand scoop was a gold diamond ring. It was not a normal ring, it was designed open. I sometimes ask people if the ring is open. There are a few designers that make them but they are not commonly found. It does make a difference to the person searching with a detector to know that the signal will not be the same as a normal ring.

New Wedding Ring Lost while Gardening .. Downtown Los Angeles, CA. Found by Using Metal Detector

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Don’t waste time renting or borrowing a metal detector if you have never used one. Especially if your lost item is important to you. Call or contact an experienced metal detector expert.

*** Richard was doing a little bit of gardening at his home in downtown Los Angeles, CA. When he believed he lost his gold wedding ring. He wasn’t quite sure because he didn’t feel it come off his finger. It wasn’t until two hours later, inside his home that he noticed his new wedding ring,  only two months old was not on his finger.

He knew the ring needed to be resized, but he was waiting for a weather change to get the best fitting. After searching the inside of the house, he believed it could be in the planters where he had remove leaves by hand.

I met Richard the next morning and proceeded to check the planters while it was raining. The light rain was distracting so I did two or three passes with the metal detector and I used the handheld pinpointer to get into the difficult spots.  Then, just before giving up, I scanned the grassy area in front of the ground level planters. BOOM !! .. Richard’s gold wedding ring was in the grass.  Richard came outside to check on my progress just as I was taking a photo of the ring for the book of smiles. He looked down to see what I was doing and let out a big surprising yell. “ You Got It”
