Ring Lost While Hanging Christmas Lights has been Recovered in Folsom, Pa

Mike contacted me on Monday as he had spent Sunday afternoon and evening frantically searching his home in Folsom, Pennsylvania for his lost wedding ring. He had been hanging Christmas lights and only knew that by the time he was finished, it was gone. When I arrived he showed me everywhere he had been and I must admit I was relieved that he hadn’t been on the roof as it was one less place I would need to search myself! After retracing his steps I got my detector out and began the search. As luck would have it the ring was right under our noses! It had blended in perfectly with a patch of dried up grass and was laying almost exactly where he thought it would be. A holiday blessing!

Lost Wedding Band Recovered in Wayne, Pa.

When Allen contacted me from Wayne, Pa he was nearly certain that his ring had fallen between his deck boards. He had been taking a phone call and flipping his ring around in his hand when it went tumbling to the ground. He heard it hit the deck.
When I arrived, Allen’s partner was reciting the opening lines to The Lord of the Rings franchise, and after seeing Allen’s beautiful hardwood deck I knew it couldn’t be. This was not your typical 2×6 deck but rather some fine tropical hardwood and the gaps between the boards was a consistent 3/16”. The only way that ring could have fallen through would be a perfect cinematic fall like the one that leads Frodo Baggins to wearing the ring for the first time. I got my detector and decided the start in the flower beds beside the deck and low and behold it was tucked away under a layer of ivy.

A Tale of Our Forefathers

At Valley Forge in the bitter winter of 1777, George Washington carried his late father’s gold wedding band on a cord beneath his coat, a small reminder of family and duty amid the suffering of his army, but one night while moving through the snowbound encampment to comfort quarreling soldiers, he discovered it was gone, likely slipped into the drifts; though he searched frantically in the freezing dark, the ring seemed lost to the storm until, at dawn, a young soldier returned it to him, found half-buried near a frozen creek, and Washington, clutching the tarnished band, felt a renewed strength to endure and lead, knowing even in the bleakest hours, hope could be restored.
Just kidding, her name was Moira and she accidentally dropped her father’s band when it broke off her necklace at Valley Forge Park. Luckily, with permission from the park’s rangers we were allowed to bring a metal detector on site and retrieve the ring.

Wedding band found in Berwyn

The gentleman, who preferred to stay anonymous, gave me a call last week as he had lost his wedding band! He had hosted his daughters birthday party in their backyard and between buckets of ice, setting up the outdoor projection movie theater for the kids, and all the clean up, he had a few ideas where it could be but had not had any luck. I came by the following afternoon and started by walking the property with him and trying to get an idea for where it might be, then he left me to work and less than an hour later I was able to locate it. The ring had slipped off near where he had been dumping the coolers out! I was glad to have made this recovery and reunited this special wedding band with the owner.

Sometimes you have to phone it in!

Last month I received a call from Eli in ChesterBrook whose beautiful gold phoenix ring launched off his finger whilst he was tossing some apples into the woods at his house to feed the deer! After searching a while himself he reached out for a helping hand. We started in the ivy below his deck but true to Chris’ words, the ring was almost exactly 45* from where Eli had been standing when he threw it. As I carefully went through the ivy, Eli stepped away to take a phone call and nearly tripped over the ring! Very happy to have been able to help, even though Eli actually found the ring!! Sometimes it helps to take a step back.
