Alaleh called in the evening saying she had lost some rings earlier in the day. We discussed what happened, and it sounded like this could result in a very successful recovery, so I convinced her to meet me at the beach as soon as we could get there, which turned out to be about 10:00 PM, so as to beat the county beach machines, and other detectors looking for treasure lost at the beach.

I got there a little while before Alaleh, and found the marker she had mentioned to me, and began my search. I made a few passes, and then Alaleh and her brother found me, and we talked about the loss. I decided on a search pattern based on the information she gave me. I searched out towards the way she believed she had gone. I went over the whole area, going beyond the scope in order to make sure something wasn’t overlooked. I found a handful of bottle caps, and foil, but no rings. I then decided to work in the other direction, as I could tell Alaleh was losing hope, and it was getting late, close to 12:00 AM, when after about 2 passes, I got a good signal, and dug. In my scoop was one of the rings, and I showed it and gave it to her. She buoyed in hope now, and I went over the hole again, scooped, and 2 more rings. I worked that hole a little more, and the lase ring was in my scoop. These rings all are very sentimental to her, 3 were given to her by her mother, and the other she bought as a freshman in college. She was so happy to have them back. What a grand night!

Jack called last night stating he had been at the beach earlier in the day, and lost his wedding ring in the sand. He had been there with his dogs, and took his ring off to put on sunscreen. Leaving his ring on his towel, he had forgotten about it until after he had left for the day. He went back as soon as he knew it was gone, but was unable to find it. Finding my number on The Ring Finders site he called, and we arranged to meet back at the beach, so he could show me where he had been sitting to narrow down the search area. Calling right away helped insure a recovery, because TIME is the enemy of a successful search, so if you have lost something call right away.

When we arrived at the beach, we met up, and Jack took me down to the area of the loss. I then began my litany of questions in order to narrow down the search area. After finding out all the information I needed, I began my search, which after about 2 minutes, resulted in a successful search. The questions help us to help you, so I am thankful when the person I am trying to help is patient while I ask. Anyway, I got a good signal, scooped, and in my scoop was a gold ring, which I held up, and asked Jack if he recognized. He looked at it and was able to read an identifying inscription on the inside of the band. He was very happy as he and his wife were getting ready to celebrate their second wedding anniversary. A great night’s sleep was ahead for sure!

I got a call from Alessandra, she had lost her ring in the sand at the beach. She had been sitting on her towel when a bee landed on her, she began swatting at it to make it fly away, and got up to flee the ornery critter. After the commotion she looked to see that the ring she had been given for graduation was gone. She had not left the area, so I told her I would be right over to conduct the search.

When I got to the beach, I walked out to where she said she would be, and as soon as she saw me began to wave me over. She then proceeded to show me what had happened, and how she ran. She was very helpful with the information she provided. I began my search, and after about 5 passes, I had her ring back on her finger. She was too young to grant me permission to use her image here, so you get me this time, as she agreed to take my picture. It was a pleasure to make her day!

Katie lost her engagement ring of 1 1/2 years yesterday at the beach where she had gone to beat the heat we are experiencing here in Southern California. While she was brushing the sand off, her ring unknowingly came off in the soft sand. After she realized what had happened and intensely searched for it, she found me on The Ring Finders site and called me this morning. We discussed what had happened, and it sounded like we should be able to find the ring. we arranged to meet at the beach when her time would allow.

When I arrived, because of the remote location surrounded by mountains, I was losing my phone signal, so finding her became an exercise, but we were finally able to connect. Katie then led me down to the area they had been the previous day. She had marked the spot with sticks ( a very smart move) in order to find it the next day. She explained where she had been, and I was off and searching. After a couple of passes with no signal I received a very low tone in the headphones, but kind of “sticky”. It was the only signal so I dug, and dumped the sand and rescanned the hole, I had gotten it out. I then scanned the dumped sand and the signal was strong, I scooped again and there in the scoop was her beautiful gold and diamond engagement ring. Oh was she happy! She then called her fiancé to let him know the ring had been found. She put the phone on speaker, and he expressed his gratitude as well. To see her joy was a refreshing sight in this time when many are fearful and despairing. What a really great day!

Cynthia, Eric’s wife called me today about the loss of Eric’s cell phone and two sets of keys including his car key. He had gone surfing, and to hide his valuables, he buried them in the sand. When it was time to go though, he was unable to find them. I was available, and let them know I would get there as soon as traffic allowed.

When I arrived, we found each other at the populated beach. I could see where Eric had been looking. He had cleared an area about 12 ft by 12 ft, and about 6 to 8 inches deep. I could tell he had been working very hard to find his keys and cell phone, at least a couple of hours of digging on a very hot day, but was not able to find the belongings. I began my search going over all that he had uncovered, and his stuff was not there. As soon as I started searching out of the area, I got a solid signal, and dug with my hands in order to not damage the cell phone, and had the items in my hand in seconds. needless to say, Eric and Cynthia were very surprised and very happy to have their keys and phone back. I was so happy to have been able to help them. It was surely a great day!

As I was searching for the lost earring for the photo shoot (from the previous blog post), Justin a member of the lighting crew came up to me and asked if could find his ring. Apparently while moving the equipment around his ring fell off his finger, but he wasn’t sure where. I let him know that as soon as I completed my search for the earring, I would do a search for his ring.

After I found the earring, I went to Justin to let him know that I was ready for the search. He saw that I had just spent about 2 1/2 hours looking for the earring, and said that it was ok, I did not have to do the search for his ring. I said no, I am here, I just need to know where to look. He then took me out to show where he had been working, and I could see a lot of disturbed sand that I should search. I looked in the area he thought was most likely with no luck. I then went lower on the beach towards the water where it looked the models had been working. I searched one spot, nothing. I then worked in the other spot, where I received a very strong silver tone in the head phones, dug, and had Justin’s ring. I walked over to him with my head down, and said, “you really didn’t think I should search anyway”, which he acknowledged as I held up his ring. He could not believe it, gave me a hug, and showed everyone of the crew that were there. It wasn’t until I was later speaking with Jacklynn, that I found out Justin’s girlfriend had given him that ring just 48 hours before; couldn’t leave that one behind! What a great day!

Diamond Stud Earring Lost in the Grass in Newbury Park High School…Found and Happily Returned.

I received a call from Demond about a lost diamond stud earring he lost in the grass at a high school where he coaches football. We arranged to meet the next day in order to get right on the search so as to not let too much time go by.

When I got there Demond met me and took me to the area of the loss. He showed me where he and the team he was coaching had pulled the grass up looking for the lost earring with no luck. I began my search in a grid pattern, and made a few passes. Demond then showed me where he thought the earring actually came off, so I moved to that spot to continue the search. After about 5 or 6 swings of the coil over the grass, I got a good solid signal, and switched to my pin pointer. I worked through the grass, and then the pin pointer was hearing the metal in the muddy dirt under the grass, so I worked my finger in to dislodge whatever it was, when I saw the earring come up, and flip into the already moved grass. It just made for a little more searching, but I eventually recovered the earring, and gave it back to Demond, who was very happy, because the earrings were a present from his wife for their anniversary. His smile tells it all!

I received a call from Roy, he had been throwing a football to his friend at the beach, when his ring flew off of his hand. He did not think it went into the water, even though he was close. I told him I would be there as soon as I could to perform a search for him. The ring was given to him by his father who had since passed away, so this ring had extreme sentimental value to him.

When I arrived he took me to the area, and showed me what had happened. It seemed like it should’ve been an easy search, but the tide was coming in, and less sand was exposed. It was about 7:00 PM, and tide was almost at its highest, and all the area he thought it might have landed in did not have the ring. After completely searching the area, I was disheartened to have to tell Roy, that his ring was not in the area I searched, but told him that I would come back at 12:00 AM to do a second search when the tide had receded, and he was welcome to meet me for the search. Roy decided not to go, so I was on the beach in the darkness doing my grid alone at 12:00 AM. About 1 1/2 hours later down the slope 30 feet from where I was searching earlier (30 feet further out in the water earlier), I received a real nice signal, and dug. One scoop, and his ring was shining in my headlight. I sent him a text at 1:30 AM to let him know the ring was secure. I did not hear anything back from him until the next morning, at which time he was totally in disbelief that I was able find his ring. Because of work arrangements we had to wait a week in order to get his ring back. When we finally met, I was able to give this memory of his father back to him, and completely make his day. What a great service to be a part of!

Thomas called yesterday. He had been shaking out his clothes at the beach, when his ring slipped off of his finger and into the sand. It was gone immediately, and his search for it was futile. He had not left the area, so I told him I would be there as soon as I could.

When I arrived, Thomas was there waiting for me, and showed me what had happened. The area was not big, but there was a ton of metal in the sand which caused me to dig a lot of targets to be sure not to miss his ring. I worked the most likely area, digging everything that sounded possible, but his ring did not show up. I then started on the other side and received a good tone. It sounded so good in relation to the other tones I had been receiving that I told Thomas that this might just be his ring. I scooped the sand, shook it out, and in the scoop was a nice silver colored ring. I lifted it out and Thomas was amazed, it was his ring! He was so very happy to have his ring back, having only been married for 9 months. I feel very fortunate to be able to create such a smile. Fun day!

Denise called, she had been at the beach, when brushing the sand off of her clothes, her ring flew off into the sand and was gone. This was her grandmother’s ring, and she cherished it. She had not left the area, and it had happened just a little bit earlier, so I knew the possibilities of a recovery were very good. I let her know that I was on my way, and would let her know when I arrived.

When I got to where Denise was she showed me where she had been standing, and what she was doing when the ring flew off, so I began my search. I searched all of the area she had gone over, and the ring was not there, so I expanded the area. I found the ring about 10 feet from the original area, sitting on top of the sand. Denise was very grateful, and figured she would not even have looked there had I not come along. What a nice end to a day!
