Platinum Wedding Ring Lost in Backyard .. Pasadena, CA. .. Found

Peter called me early this morning from Pasadena, CA. He had lost his platinum wedding band in the back yard while gardening. He was sure that it was somewhere in the back yard. Although he had not felt the ring slip off his finger.
Peter’s plan was to rent a metal detector when he found TheRingFinders.com. He called me, asking if I was available. It was very important to have his ring for a formal wedding ceremony this next weekend.
Peter was at work but I was able to meet his wife, Nadia at noon. She showed me the area that Peter had done the most work. The ring did not show, so we expanded the area to where he had walked to get tools. As I was walking over to that location with Nadia, I got a short solid signal with my XP Deus metal detector. There, between the asphalt driveway and the grass was the platinum wedding band lying vertical. Nadia quickly bent down to retrieve the ring with a look of relief that they will now have this ring for their important wedding ceremony. Another happy successful recovery for me to remember. I love helping people find their precious sentimental keepsakes.

Custom Silver Ring Lost at Venice Beach CA…Recovered and Happily Returned.

I received a call from Antony last night, he was desperate about his ring he lost at the beach just an hour earlier. I told him I would go as soon as I finished my dinner, knowing that the sooner you search at a public place, the better the odds of finding what was lost.

Antony met me at the location, and explained how the loss occurred, and what metal the ring was made of. He said that he was walking his dog, and threw the leash when the ring flew off of his finger. He also told me it was a silver ring. Now I have had enough experiences over my time of doing ring searches to know that not everyone really knows what metal their ring is, so I dug everything that sounded gold or silver, and everything in between, I did not want to miss his ring. He told me that a friend had made it custom for him, and that his was 1 of 4 this person had created, and he would be heartsick to have to tell this friend he had lost it. I searched into the night with no ring, and it was getting so late that I decided to call an end to the search, because of the area (it can get pretty criminal late in the night). I told him I would come back in the morning to complete my search, and expand it if necessary. I did ask him if there were any identifying features or engravings on the ring, and he immediately said, yes, it is a skull ring. I figured, if I dug it I should recognize it with no problem.

I got there this morning, and Antony met me again. I began a cross grid of last night to make sure I had not missed the ring. My search last night had been very thorough, there was no ring. I then began to expand the area, and after about 4 more passes I got a real strong silver signal in my head phones, and in the sand I had scooped out was the biggest, heaviest silver skull ring I had ever seen. It really looked like pirate treasure. He was right it was silver, and his ring must have had 2 to 3 ounces of silver in it. Antony had left while I was searching, so I called his phone to let him know I had found the ring, but the call went into voice mail. I left a message hoping he would get back to me, but no reply. So I just kept detecting, because I could see his car, so I knew he hadn’t left the area. About 45 minutes later he called me to let me know he was coming, and when he arrived and saw his ring he was elated, gave me a big hug, and told me he had been getting a hair cut. Good to be looking nice when you are really happy. Another great day, being able to make another great smile.

Heirloom Diamond Wedding Ring Lost at Malibu Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

Erika emailed me Friday night to see if I could help her find her wedding ring she lost the day before at the beach in Malibu, CA. I arranged to meet her there the next morning. This ring had been her great grandmother’s ring, so it had an extreme sentimental value to her. Because it had been gone for 2 days made the possibility, of a recovery just a little more difficult, but it seemed to be a possibility because of where she believed she lost it (not in an area of where the county beach machines clean).

I got to location at the arranged time, and looked around waiting for Erika. I received an email from her that she would be later than the set time, so I asked her where she had been on the beach, and what happened to lose the ring when we talked a little later on the phone. I started my hunt where I understood her directions to start. I apparently wasn’t listening properly, because I started on the opposite side. I started finding an assortment of things, as well as some coins. About a half an hour later I got to the area she had been sitting in and ran one grid line. I was about half way through the second line when I looked down and saw what looked like a gold band sticking out of the sand. I reached down, and pulled out this beautiful diamond ring. This ring had been there for 2 days, in a high traffic area, sticking out of the sand, and not found by anyone else. It was meant to go back to Erika!

I took the ring and placed it on my little finger’s first digit, with the diamonds towards the inside of my hand. It wasn’t 2 minutes later that Erika walked up. She looked at me and saw my progress in the sand, and then asked the ‘not so sure’ question, “no luck huh?”. I then opened my hand, and said, “you mean like this?”. She was instantly overcome with disbelief and joy. As we were talking later, she stated in question form, that ” you really like making people’s day don’t you?”, and I thought, yes that is exactly it!

Platinum Tiffany & Co. Wedding Band Lost at Will Rogers State Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

I happened to be surfing again yesterday, and after my morning session, I got back to my car to find a message from Olivia regarding the loss of her husband’s wedding ring when they were at the beach the day before. I got right back with her to let her know that I would be available to search for the ring as soon as I dropped my surfboard off and picked up my equipment. We agreed to meet at a specific time, so I rushed home to get ready.

We met at the beach, and Olivia explained how there was a miscommunication between her and her husband Tim after he asked for some of the items that he gave to her to hold while he went into the water, the ring being one of the items. The result was that after they got home, and Tim was ready to go to work, he asked for his ring, and it wasn’t there. They then figured , it must have dropped into the sand when he was handed his things. They found me on TheRingFinders.com web site and made the call. When I got to the spot, I could see that the sand was smoothed out from the beach sifters, and realized that the ring having been lost the previous day, might not be there. I did tell them though that although it doesn’t look real good for a recovery, I always have hope. After asking some questions I began my search. I searched for about 1 1/2 hours, and then began to work the other side of the area closer to the slope, when I found Tim’s ring.

Tim and Olivia had been sitting under an umbrella in some sand chairs while I searched, so when I turned with Tim’s ring in my hand, they were both gone. I looked up and down the beach, and saw neither one of them, so I started walking towards the place where they had been sitting, when I saw that Tim was lying on a towel next to the chairs. When I got to him I could see that he was deep in sleep, and I felt kind of bad that I was going to wake him to let him know I found his ring. I spoke to Tim and he awoke. I showed him the ring to make sure that it was the one he lost and he acknowledged it was. He then figured out that Olivia had gone to the car in the parking lot to get something, and went to give her the good news. It was so wonderful to see the two of them coming back to the site with smiles all around. They had just celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary last week, what a blast!

Yesterday, Tim gave me his wedding ring to hold in my purse while he went in the ocean, along with his keys, watch and phone. When we were getting ready to leave, I thought he said let me get my things. But it turns out he only wanted his keys. I pulled out all his things including his ring and thought he took all his things. Until that evening when I was in bed and he was getting ready to go to work and he asked me for his ring…. **Gasp*** what do you mean? I gave it to you at the beach…. so his platinum Tiffany ring was left somewhere in Will Roger’s State Beach…. In stepped Steve Smith from theringfinders.com. I called him at noon after I conducted a search for metal detectors. He was worried that it was a day later and after the clean up of the beach. But he said not to lose hope. I never lose hope. It’s a strength and a weakness I suffer with. But guess what, after only 1.5 hours the impossible happened and he found the ring!!!!! Thanks Steve!

Family Heirloom Ring Lost in Malibu, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

I was out and about yesterday when I received a call about 12:00 PM from Kyle about the loss of a family heirloom ring that his new wife of 4 days, Katie-Joy was wearing. They had been at the reception in a Malibu restaurant when the loose fitting ring had come off of her finger on the private beach the restaurant has for their guests. The ring was her late grandmother’s, that is loaned out in a family tradition to the young ladies of the family when they get married as a thing that is old and borrowed. I asked Kyle if he knew where the loss occurred, and he most definitively said yes. When I asked him how he knew so well, he explained that before he knew the ring was missing he had spotted it on the ground, picked it up, and not thinking much of it at the time, being a very small and fragile looking ring , tossed it back in the sand. Not long after, he found out about the ring, and by that time it was gone below the sand.

I asked if Kyle could meet me at the restaurant, and he said he could not get there until after he got off work at 6:00 PM. I wasn’t far from the site, so I asked him to contact the restaurant to see if they would allow me to come for the search earlier, because I was in the area. I hadn’t heard back from him, but drove to the restaurant, and called him back, when he told me he had just gotten off the phone with the activities director there who gave him the green light for me to come. I grabbed my equipment, and walked over to the director’s surprise that I had arrived so quickly. She showed me the area which wasn’t too big, and withing 15 minutes I found the ring. I knew it was the one because Kyle had informed me that there was a plastic spacer that was attached to the ring. After finding it, every restaurant staff member I met inquired if I had made the recovery, and rejoiced at the good news; what fun.

I sent a picture to Kyle of the ring, and he was pretty sure it was the one. he in turn passed on the picture to his wife who identified the ring. We made arrangements to meet last night at a coffee shop between us where I was able to give the ring back to Katie-Joy who was extremely happy to see it again. This ring will now be available to future brides in their family, as a thing old and borrowed, a continuing family tradition. Lots of fun.

I just wanted to take a second to email you and thank you again for finding my grandmother’s ring.  I wanted to write a review for you, but I know you mentioned that email was probably the best way to do this, so I will try my best to write one that you can hopefully use on your website or as a reference for people.

“My husband and I got married on August 6, 2016 at Duke’s in Malibu.  During the ceremony and pictures I was wearing my deceased grandmother’s wedding band and engagement ring, as this was tradition in my family with all of the girls to wear as the “something borrowed”.  The ring was small on all my fingers except my ring finger, which it was too big, so I put a spacer on.  Unfortunately, during picture taking somehow the spacer and ring still fell off my finger into the sand on the small beach we were taking photos on.  Needless to say we could not find the ring.  My husband and I returned to look for it more thoroughly, but no luck.  My husband decided to hire Steve, knowing how upset I was.  We were both working, so Steve only had the description of general area and what the ring looked like to go off of.  Within an hour of searching, Steve found my grandmother’s ring.  I am so unbelievably happy to have this small piece of history restored to the family.”

Platinum Wedding Band Lost at Venice Beach, CA…Found and Joyfully Returned to Florida.

Back on July 15th Joanna sent me a text asking for my help. She and her family had been down at Venice Beach 5 days prior, where her husband had removed his ring to apply sunscreen and laid it in the grass where they were sitting. When they got back to the hotel where they were staying he realized the ring was gone. They called some of the places back on the beach to see if someone could go and find it for them, with no luck. I told Joanna, that in such a public place, with so much time having gone by, that the chances of finding the ring had diminished considerably. I asked her to call me so I could ask her about the loss, when she told me that she and the family had already gone back to their home in Florida. I asked if she could help me narrow down the search area, and she sent me pictures of the place, and where they were sitting when her husband removed the ring; I knew right where the area was, and told her I would go and search the next day.

When I arrived at the spot it turned out to be rather small with good grass growth, so I was a bit hopeful. I began my search, and found numerous items, but all too deep to have been the ring, so I just kept searching. I then received a good shallow signal, and used my pinpointer to verify the signal, and found the ring. Needless to say I was very excited, it was a big solid platinum ring, and I could see the engraving that Joanna had told me about. I took the attached picture, and sent it to Joanna, saying “You’ll never believe what was still there after 6 days.” She wrote “Oh my God”, and “I’m shaking”, and I answered that I know, I almost did a dance right there in front of everyone.

She had worked and saved her money to buy that ring for her future husband, so the meaning behind it was deep. I sent it off to her, and when she received it she sent me the attached picture of her and the ring. What she thought was lost forever, was now safely back in their family. I am so happy to have helped them out, and honored that she trusted me, someone she had never met to do this search for her. I was definitely blessed to receive a picture like this with a great and happy smile. Joanna posted the story on Facebook, and it went viral. Beautiful Diamond and Diamond Encrusted Wedding Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned With Great Joy.

Joni called me earlier today upset because of losing her wedding ring at the beach yesterday, she thought it might just be lost for good, but held out some hope that I might be able to help her. I told her I would meet her at the beach so she could show me where she thought it might have come off. She said it would take her a while, because at the time she was about 150 miles away, so I waited for her to let me know when she was close, so I could leave to meet her.

I met Joni at the beach, she showed me where she thought the ring had come off, and explained what she was doing when she thought she lost it. She had brushed the sand off her clothes, and it flew off during that action. I began my search working my way out from the initial area, finding foil and bottle caps. I felt like I had moved out far enough, and then increased the length of my grid. I was out about 20 feet from the original area when I received the signal  I was waiting for. I put in my scoop, and up comes this beautiful diamond ring. Joni could see it in the scoop, and came right over to see if it was hers. I held it up , and a flood of emotion came over her. She told me how she had not been able to even sleep last night because of this loss. It was sure great to leave the beach after being able to create such a wonderful smile.

We know each ring has its story, and each one so very important to its owner, and when it is lost that story ends, that is why we search, to renew the story. I received a call from Bill yesterday concerning his wedding ring he had lost just a couple of hours earlier in the sand. He had taken the ring off to apply sunscreen, and placed it on his shoe so it would not be lost, but was then asked by a worker in the area to move so they could do some work. Without thinking about his ring, he picked up his shoes, and got out of the way. As soon as he got to the new spot, he realized the mistake, and started to search for it. The sand at this beach is very fine, and the ring was swallowed up instantly. We agreed to meet about 1 1/2 hours later, as he had already gone home, and my wife had just made me a meal. He also asked if a sifter would help, and I told him nothing would hurt, but trying to find a ring with a sifter could lead to a significant amount of frustration, and despair.

When I got to the beach with Bill, he showed me the area, and I could see that it was a pretty good size. He also had a sifter in a bag, but said that when he got there, he realized it would be a job to sift the entire area, so he waited for me. Well, I got right to work, and began my grid from the widest point inward. After a couple of passes and a few coins, I got a good solid nonferrous hit in my headphones, and dug. Up comes my scoop with a bright and shiny ring in it, I gave out a shout, and almost did a little dance. I turned and showed Bill, and could see a wave of emotion come over him. When he was holding the newly recovered ring, he shared its story with me, and I understood his reaction.

He had been with his future wife for 7 years before they were to marry, and when he decided to ask her, he decided to approach her father first. Apparently his future Father in Law thought a lot of him, and offered to make his wedding ring, as he was an artisan in making jewelry. At this time Bill had been married for 11 years, and his Father in Law, passed away just one month ago. I could tell that this became a double loss to Bill, and it grieved him sorely to have lost this precious reminder of his bride’s father. I was certainly glad to have made his day.

Engagement Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned in Happiness.

I got a call from Chantal today hoping I could help her find her engagement ring at the beach. I was able to go, but I knew that on a weekend, the day before 4th of July, parking would be horrendous. I told her I would be on my way. I was right about the parking, and had to park about 1 1/2 miles away, and lug my equipment to where they were; fortunately there was a concrete strand to walk on.

Chantal told me she had taken two rings off to apply sunscreen, and laid them on the towel. Later not remembering the rings Chantal picked up the towel and shook it, and then to her horror remembered the rings. She and her husband Ty searched for the rings, and were able to find one of them, but the continued search proved unfruitful for the other one. That is when they found me on theringfinders.com. I met Ty on the way to the spot, and he informed me that they had just celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary in April. I checked the area Ty showed me, and decided to start my search where they had found the first ring. I completed each line of the grid working my way back towards where the towel had originally been, when right in that area I got a good clean foil sound in my headphones. I dug once, and looked down to see that I had just missed the ring when I scooped as it was partially showing in the sand. I reached down, then held the ring up for all to see, because the people next to them were waiting and watching as I searched. Ty then broke out in a very loud voice saying, “That’s what I’m Talking about!”, “Thank God for Social Media!” This was a great recovery, I am glad I was able to be a part of it; smiles all around.

I received a call from Taylor last week about his ring loss, asking if I could help. He had been Stand Up Paddle boarding, and when he was coming in to finish his day, there was a bit of roughness in the area that caused him to fall into the water. He then proceeded to hand paddle the rest of the way in. When he got to shore he realized his ring had come off. I offered to go that day, but he was unable to make it. We kept in contact, trying to coordinate a time we could get together, and it wasn’t until today that I was going to have the time to do a search, so Taylor took a step of faith, not ever having met me, and sent me a picture of the area, and drawings to show the exact place the loss happened.

I checked my tide charts, and saw that the extra low tide would be at 4:30 AM, so I told Taylor I would be going to search in the early morning. I got up at 2:00 AM, and was on the spot at 3:30 AM. Having the real low tide gave me a lot of area to search, and made it a heck of a lot easier. It was nice, with a lot of solitude, and coolness of the morning, which was nice with the heat wave we’ve been having. Also nice was that there was a full moon, which aided in my being able to see what I was doing. I searched for 1 1/2 hours getting a lot of old cans and other aluminum products, until I got a solid hit, which when I dug it I saw a nice big chunky gold band; 5 AM, not a bad search. I looked inside to make sure it had the inscription Taylor had told me about, and saw that this was his ring.

I got back to the car about 5:30, and sent him a text with a picture of the ring, figuring he might still be sleeping. I then drove to a McDonalds in the area to get a bite to eat, as I was getting hungry. He had sent a text back just 3 minutes later, and wanted to meet for the return. He was only 10 minutes away, so I told him I would wait at the restaurant. Taylor showed up, and I could see the excitement he had to get his ring back, I am sure thinking he would have never seen it again. Seeing that smile on his face is what this is all about. What a joy!
