I’m in Van Nuys and my husband has lost his wedding ring. He had been doing lawn work and was also on the roof putting up Xmas lights and it’s obviously come off and we’re seriously frustrated because it’s no where to be found so we need some help!

I was able to get to their house a couple hours after talking to Rebecca and Chris called me from work explaining his activities on that Saturday.
After arriving I searched the front yard, backyard, tomato garden and three containers of leaves with no success. Chris was leaving work early to double check the roof while it was still light outside. Before leaving I offered suggestions as where they may search for the ring. Searching for a ring is a process of elimination. I felt confident when I left that the ring was not in the areas that I searched. As I was leaving, I asked Rebecca if she would let me know if they found the ring.

Sorry I don’t have any photos to show. I’m posting this because it feels good to get a text from Rebecca and Chris, thanking me for helping them.

She text me a half hour later::
Chris found it! It was on the roof, hidden under a pile of dirt and leaves! Thank you so much for helping us today.

My friend Adriano was doing a ring search at Marina Del Rey Mother’s Beach. The ring had been in a pocket inside a 6 man outrigger canoe. The person that lost the ring was 99 % sure the ring had fallen into the water when they tipped the canoe over to carry it to the storage area.
Adriano asked my opinion on hunting in an area with a lot of electrical interference.. I asked if I could help because it was sounded like a real learning challenge .. I took my CTX and he uses Excal.. There was a pvc electrical conduit running through the primary search area. It was surprising that 15 feet each side of the conduit the interference made it almost impossible to get a signal. By turning my sensitivity down I was able to calm my machine down enough to get much closer to the conduit. It would still be possible to detect a shallow ring. After a couple hours with two of us grid searching (no ring).
Then a guy who had been out with his kayak asked what we were looking for..? We told him and he replied, “I HAVE IT”. It sounded like he was joking or I didn’t hear him correctly.
He told us that in the morning as he got into his kayak, he found it in the water an hour before we got there. He had been thinking of some way to find the owner and was glad to give it to Adriano if he could return it to the owner. We made sure the man that lost the ring had contact information for the man that found the ring.

Moral to this story is you never know how things come together to make a successful search.

 

 

Juney called, he asked if I was available to help him find a ring that he thought was lost in the sand at Laguna Beach. The ring had slipped off his finger earlier on the lawn while he was brushing sand off his daughter. An hour later, four blocks down the beach, he was playing with both his son and daughter on the sand when he realized his ring was missing again.
It was dark when we met on the beach 20 minutes after he had called me. I gave him a flashlight and put on my headlamp. We walked to the site discussing where he might have been doing things that may have caused the ring to come off his finger.
Juney showed me an area 35 ft. x 100ft. I took half of that to start a grid down the center, planning to spiral outward. One pass down the center then back in the other direction. After a few feet I got a strong signal, possibly mixed with iron. I pitched a scoop full of sand on the surface and the gold ring was there on top illuminated with our flashlights.
Even though Juney didn’t know exactly where or when he lost the ring, he was able to remember the approximate location and where he had been most active playing with his kids. Tomorrow morning the beach sifting machine will clean the beach.

I received the above text just as I was returning home from a thanksgiving dinner. I replied asking Mallorie to call me right away. Her and her husband Nathan were there to meet me at 12:30 am on the beach near Santa Monica Pier.
They believed the diamond ring to be near the gymnastics rings where Nathan and Mallorie had done a little work out. She had put three rings in Nathan’s shirt pocket while she did some stunts on the rings. When she finished He gave her two of the rings. A little later she asked for the other ring. The ring wasn’t in his pocket. They had been in a large area, but assumed it dropped in the sand when he pulled out the first rings.
I grid searched the whole area without a sign of the ring. Then I asked, where else they had been. They did try one other set of gym rings where Nathan had taken his shirt off, laying it on the sand. This was our last hope for the night. I was already making plans to return in the morning to scan the larger beach area. We knew that we were running out of possible places the ring could be hiding. Then came the magic gold tone and 12-24 VDI reading. The beautiful Rose Gold Diamond ring was in my sand scoop.
A nice Thanksgiving present for Mallorie and Nathan.

Jason called after finding TheRingFinders.com while doing a google search for metal detecting information. He asked me if Ira’s available to help him find his wife’s engagement ring lost in the back yard. He would be home all day, so I was able to meet him at that afternoon.

He told me that his wife Celia had thrown a dog toy for their dog to fetch. Three rings came off her finger and they were able to find two thin white gold wedding bands. The larger diamond engagement ring was not found. I was only able to ask Celia a few questions before she had to leave. We searched the area on the backside of the fence and the neighbor’s yard. Three hours of searching with two different detectors did not uncover the missing ring. I could not think of any places that I could use my detectors. So I had to call it a ” no find” day.
A week later I got a call from Jeff Levy a fellow member of TheRingFinders. He had also been called and had been given a different explanation of how the rings were lost. The rings came off when Celia threw the dog toy from the second floor window. This would make it possible to go further or get hung up in 8ft high tree type landscape shrubs. Also a chance it could landed on the pool slide then into the pool.

I returned to give it another try. This time I gave Celia 3 junk rings to throw from the same window, then 4 rings to throw at a different angle. I was able to find the first 3 in her yard and the other 4 were found in the neighbor’s yard.
I had a Garrett Infinium detector with a sniper coil which I probed into the tall shrubs from their side of the fence and I went to the neighbor’s to probe from that side but could not get a signal. After returning to Jason and Celia’s yard we were running out of places to search. Celia and I walked around the pool slide to try the last possible spot. Celia looked down and there was her beautiful solitaire engagement ring. I had knocked it out of the high shrubbery. There was no other explanation of how it got there, we had searched that spot many times and it was right on top of hard packed soil.
It gets crazy when you are getting ready to call it a “no find search” and up pops the ring. Another awesome search and one I’ll never forget. Celia was ecstatic, so was I, the photo shows her happiness.

It slipped off in the water when I jumped in and I was devastated to say the least. I went back the next day to look in addition to that called the local police and main lifeguard station to see if anyone had found anything. If you could be any help to me I can absolutely offer u a reward. She called after my reply to her. While talking to Jessica we determined that she wasn’t at Huntington Beach, she was actually at Newport Beach. We also compared the time that it was lost with the tide height. After 11 days I felt we still had a chance to find the ring because this is a hard packed flat beach. Our only concern would be that it is heavily hunted by other detectorists.

I was out the next afternoon at .5ft low tide. After an hour of grid searching out to knee deep water. I got a great signal that turned out to be Jessica’s ring. A strange thing happened when I scooped into the sand, I also captured a large sand crab in the scoop with the ring. I couldn’t believe I was able to find it the first attempt. My plan was to give three or four tries because it is only a couple miles from where I live.

First thing I did was to text Jessica with a picture of the ring. She immediately returned a call to me. It was awesome to hear the excitement she expressed to me. The next morning I was able to mail it to her by next day mail. It was worth the extra money to get it to her ASAP. No buddy can be anymore surprised than me that this ring was lost in 4 or 5ft. of water and went through more than 20 tide changes, still it stayed within range to be found with a metal detector. I’m getting used to seeing miracles, one reason I say “I Will Try Anywhere”.
