Lost ring Ortley Beach NJ Tag | Page 6 of 8 | The Ring Finders

While at work I got  call from Sriharsha who asked for help in locating his ring he lost while swimming at Belmar. Seems he got hit by a wave and knocked down, when he got back up him ring was missing. Told him I’d  meet him after work. He took me to where he was swimming and I started to look. 2 hours in the water and on the slope I couldn’t find it. I told him I’d try again the next night at low tide with a friend of mine to help. We got there a little before low tide and I found the ring mid slope. Called him and made arrangements to meet him to pick up his ring. He was so grateful and didn’t think he’d ever see his ring again. In my haste I forgot to ask for a picture of him in the return ( sorry ). But the smile on his face did say it all.

Got a call from Toni Ann and Joe that Joe lost his late mother’s wedding band he wore on a chain in the sand. He was playing with a toddler on the beach and she kept pulling on the ring so he took it off the chain and put it on his pinky finger. After playing and then walking around the area, then sitting down he noticed the ring was missing. I told them I was about a half hour away but will get there as soon as I could. Met up with them at their beach club and they took me to where they were sitting. They showed me about a 25 foot square area they thought the ring might be in. I told him I wasn’t leaving till he had his mom’s ring back.  I started at one end and about a third of the way through I recovered his ring for him. They were so happy to get the ring back. Glad I was able to return it to them.

Got a call from Carl who while playing volleyball lost his wedding band of 20 years. I was only 10 minutes away from the beach and told him I’d be right there. Took me longer to find a parking space then the drive there. I met him on the beach at the volleyball court he was playing on and he showed me where he was when he felt his ring fly off hitting the ball. I walked back and forth the whole side of the court and couldn’t find it. Figured I’d check the other side as well incase it flew further then he thought and sure enough about 10 feet on the other side of the net I found his ring. Glad I was able to reunite him with his beloved wedding band. Great recovery.

Got a call from Andrea and Jamie asking for help to find Andrea’s ring she lost at the beach earlier. Seems she took it off to go swimming and put it in her beach bag and when they got home found the ring wasn’t there anymore. They went back down and try to find it themselves with no luck. I told them I’d be there in 20 minutes and they met me at the beach. At first they weren’t sure where it might be, so I asked if the bag was ever knocked over, No then asked her if she took anything out of the bag after she put the ring in and Yes a towel, had to of happened then. We marked out about a 25 foot square and started at one end and worked my way slowly across, about two thirds the way across I got the tone I was waiting to hear and sure enough there’s the ring. They were on the boardwalk watching and when they saw me stop Jamie threw up his arm asking yes or no and I gave him a thumbs up, they ran down to the beach in excitement. It’s always a great feeling reuniting people with their cherished rings. Glad it turned out for the best.

While on Asbury Park beach just getting ready to detect ( July 1 ) fellow Ring Finder Matty St Garmain called and told me about a ring lost there the weekend before. Ty was swimming when he got knocked over by a wave and lost his Great, Great, Great, Great grandfather’s ring. I was in the area where he lost it and started looking for it with no luck. Matty in return went down that night and didn’t have any luck either. I went back the next day but got chased away by a thunder storm. Wednesday the 3rd I got down there for low tide and after a half hour couldn’t believe I found it after all that time in the ocean. I called Ty and made arraignments for him to pick it up that Friday. I’m SO glad I was able to return such an important piece to him so he can hand it down to him son when it’s time. Happy ending and a GREAT feeling for all.

              Got a call from Ken asking for help to find his girl’s engagement ring lost at the beach while enjoying the 4th of July At Ocean Grove. Told him I’d be there as soon as I could seeing it was late and was going to be dark soon. Getting to the beach it was packed with people waiting to see the fire works and I was hoping someone wasn’t sitting on it. Seems she took it off to put lotion on and gave it to Ken and he rolled it up in his shirt bottom and forgot it was there and later stood up and out fell the ring. They didn’t notice it was missing till they got home because both of them thought the other had it. He showed me one area he though the were sitting at and that didn’t have the ring. He was talking to his girl and telling her where we were and she thought they were sitting a little more to the one side about 25 feet or so, so that’s where we headed to and on the second swing of the detector I found the ring. Another happy ending and Ken is no longer in the ” Dog House ” ( had to throw that in )

While at a 4th of July BBQ I got a call from fellow Ring Finder JerseyMatt about a recovery in Avon he couldn’t get to and asked if I could help. He gave me their number and it seems that Kristy and Oliver were enjoying the 4th on the beach and Oliver was in the water throwing a ball and he wedding band went with the ball on a throw. Told them I’d be there as soon as I could knowing that it was the end of low tide and I didn’t have much time before the tide was to high to hunt. Got down there and they showed me where he was in the surf and I went out to hunt. I was only out there not even 10 minutes I think and found the ring. He was pretty right on showing me where to go. I headed back to shore and they thought I was giving up because the waves were giving me a little hard time, but were surprised I found the ring so fast. A happy ending to a nice 4th of July

While at work I got a call from Ben and April. While having a family day on the beach April lost her wedding band, turned out it was their last day of vacation and they were heading home the next day. Not letting her go home without it, I told them I’d meet the as soon as I got off work. Met them at their rental house and April took me to where they were sitting on the beach. Started to do a grid back and forth with no luck. I tried a little off to the side and that didn’t help either. Went back to the first grid I started and a minute later I found her band. So glad I was able to give a Happy ending to their vacation and she is going to go home with her lovely band back on her finger.

Got an email from Danielle asking for help finding her wedding set she lost on Belmar beach that day. Didn’t see the email till 2:30 am that night while getting ready to go out detecting with fellow Ring Finder Matty St Garmain, so I text her telling her to call as soon as she gets the text. She called around 5:30 and we left the beach we were detecting and headed to where she lost her rings. She was waiting for us at the spot she was sitting and told us she took her rings off to put on lotion and laid them on her chair and forgot about them till she noticed them gone. She was really good and remembering where she was because she had her rings back on her finger within 5 minutes. Another HAPPY face and a HAPPY ENDING. Sorry no close up of her beautiful rings, got lost in the moment.
