Gold is a big part of Neelums culture, so when she had the opportunity to purchase a very unique 22k gold ring while in Dubai, she jumped all over it. The ring style is thought to bring good luck to its owner…more on that later.   This particular ring had become one of her favorite possessions, so when it came up missing, she sought help quickly.

Finding theringfinders.com site led her to me and after some text messages, we agreed to meet the following afternoon to search.  We started at her mothers apartment where she last physically had the ring. She had put multiple rings into her purse there before running to pick up her husband from work and returning to their apartment.  After nothing turned up at that location nor inside her vehicle, we decided to move to the final location where Neelum realized the ring was missing.

Interestingly enough, as we walked the pathway to her apartment discussing what areas we could search, there on the path sat the 22k gold ring.  It had sat there in the open with people constantly walking past it for over 24 hours.  We had made the recovery!

Remember earlier when we discussed that luck thing?  Well, that ring truly brought luck to Neelum on that day.  There would have been so many opportunities for someone to spot that beautiful and unique ring and to take it for themselves, however she now has the ring back in her possession and their story together got an exciting new chapter in lieu of a sad ending.

As always, Thank you Neelum for contacting the The Ring Finders and entrusting me to assist with locating this wonderful ring?  Best wishes for you and your family for the future.

Solitaire Diamond Ring Lost in Fremont, CA… Found!!!

When you receive a call just before 10:30 pm at night, you get the since of urgency that an individual is feeling about their lost item.  I did not answer the phone, not because it was late and I was in bed, rather I was at a movie with my family.  Instead a text message followed… “Hi Sir, I lost my ring and need your help finding it.”

The next morning around 7:00 am I sent a message back to get more details about the lost ring.  The couple was packing the car for a very important event at a friends house. There were two rings both in her right hand and not on her fingers while shuttling things to the vehicle.  At a certain point, she remembers the rings, looks into her hand and only one is there.  The entire event happens over not more than 5 minutes in the afternoon and puts an ominous dark cloud over the day.

When I arrived, I was met by the woman who promptly walked me through the events of the previous day.  Through the story she told, I identified a few valid locations for our search.  We started by doing a grid search of the small yard area in the front of the home.  This was the path of travel from the home to the vehicle.  The yard was void of targets on the surface.  We then visually inspected the driveway including some cracks and gaps that could potentially conceal the ring… nothing!

My next logical thought was the vehicle itself.  We started in the trunk and removed and inspected all the object within…again nothing!  I then moved to the front passenger side of the vehicle and utilized my video endoscope and a flashlight.  I saw something on the screen that I liked…turned out to be a coin, but also another object.  I moved around to the back passenger seat and removed the floor mat to reveal the diamond solitaire ring sitting against the plastic trim of the front seat.  WE MADE THE RECOVERY!!!!

I don’t often play tomfoolery with my clients when I’m performing recoveries, but I couldn’t resist.  I asked the woman if she had a photo or image of the ring.  She replied yes and started to search her phone.  I then asked her, “Does it look like this?”  The look on her face was first confusion, than astonishment, then relief, and there it was…the smile!!!

She then explained to me that she was only seconds from telling me not to waste my time on looking through the vehicle, convinced it was in the yard or somewhere else.  She also stated that she did even think about searching the vehicle because she was convinced it was elsewhere.

I spent a good amount of time talking with the pleasant couple.  They had ordered metal detectors to search for themselves before the husband found THE RING FINDERS on a google search.  They revealed that they spent a long time reading my profile and testimonials before deciding I was trustworthy and capable of handling their dilemma.  The husband joked about the hour at which the woman called, excited about finding help and hopeful for the recovery of her cherished ring.  She explained that she had always wanted a solitaire ring and had worked so very hard to purchase the ring for herself, an accomplishment she was very proud of.  And in the end, we were successful in locating it and the ring has a renewed story for the couple to share.

Thank you for allowing me to take a small part in that story!

The diamond solitaire ring recovered.

The couple still in disbelief that we found it!

AMAZING…14K wedding band lost for 25 years…RECOVERED!!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

Almost 25 years ago, a gentleman working in his yard in Oakland, CA lost his 14K yellow gold wedding band.  The family searched, but never recovered the ring.  In 2008 this same gentleman, a beloved father and husband, lost his life to cancer.  May he rest in peace!

Fast forward to July 2023, fellow ring finder and friend Jes Muse from THERINGFINDERS.COM requests that I cover a call out she had received.  Jes is recovering from a recent surgery and I wish her a successful and speedy recovery.  She sent all the pertinent information for me to reach out to Mr. Limon regarding his fathers lost ring.

After a brief conversation, it was decided that 7-18-2023 at 3pm we would meet at his childhood home.  This home is on the market to be sold and this week would likely be the last opportunity to search for the long gone wedding band.  We met on the street and he showed me the area we would be working,  a small terraced hillside that once was covered in ivy at the front of the home.  The hillside had since been reworked and the ivy removed, being replaced with mulch.

I set up my Equinox 800 and anchored in at the corner of the hillside and grid from bottom to top, right to left facing the hill.  The very first signal was perfect… a VDI (visual discrimination indicator of 16 in both directions….heart break as we pulled an odd brass like fitting.  We continued the grid search systematically removing every target we found.  Then, mid-slope almost exactly where Mr. Limon recalled his father telling him it was lost all those years ago…WE MADE THE RECOVERY!!!!

The signal was not as perfect as I had hoped, but may have been partially masked by another metal object or maybe laid in an awkward position .  The VDI was 18, 19, 20 at 4″ deep and I dug a large plug as to not damage anything below. There, in the spoils of the plug, was the 14K wedding band that went missing almost 25 years earlier.

After recovering the ring, Mr. Limon was kind enough to share all the details I have included above.  He and his family were also most generous in sending me some very emotion evoking photos later that evening.  Thank you very kindly for entrusting me with the search for this very precious piece of your family history and I’m very happy that it will continue to tell a very exciting new story.

Three gold rings thought to be lost in Alamo, CA…Found!!!

A physiological response to real or perceived threats and stressors is that the body increases electrical activity in the brain and produces adrenaline and cortisol.  This is a basic fight or flight response.  Memory loss can also result if that process occurs when fear or anxiety is excessive and (or) persistent.

This seems to have been the case in a number of searches I have been called upon to perform.  Individuals state with absolute certainty that this is where or what they had done with their ring(s) only to later realize that what they perceived to be fact was incorrect. The stress and anxiety of loosing such a valuable and cherished item can cloud the memory of what actually took place.

This was not the case with Caeti!  She contacted me after misplacing 3 of her 4 rings during a trip to the nail salon including her beautiful wedding band with 7 diamonds.  She goes on to explain that she placed all 4 rings into a sunglasses case and then into her purse during the trip.  Once her nails were done, she returned to the car and opened the case to put her sunglasses on for the short return trip home.  Once home, she went to put her sunglasses away in the case and retrieve her rings.  Remember that physiologic response I babbled about above, that is where this kicks in.  Upon opening the sunglasses case, only her engagement ring was found.  The other three rings seemingly vanished and panic set in as she retraced her steps all the way back to the nail salon. A search of the salon and the parking lot produced nothing.  A search of the vehicle produced nothing. The driveway, the house, the purse…all nothing!

The next afternoon I joined the investigation into the missing three rings. I went to the salon and spoke with them, I searched the parking lot, talked to other businesses in the same shopping center, all with no results.  I then made my way to see Caeti.  She was clearly upset about the loss and resolute in the fact that the rings were indeed placed into the sunglasses case.  As I prepared to search her vehicle I recommended a look at the purse and sunglasses case.  She promptly produced both and as I looked down into the sunglasses case I also saw the tiniest of gold peaking out.  All three rings had slipped behind the satiny lining inside the case cloaking themselves from vision.  We had made the recovery!!!

In Caeti’s case the stress and anxiety did not cloud her memory of the events in the least, rather the shock of not initially finding the ring within the glasses case derailed her from what she already knew.  The rings were indeed placed into the case and there they remained.

I’m very much excited that I was able to help locate these (3) rings and get them back into (or onto) the hands to which they belonged.  Caeti, I wish you and your new family a very exciting future and am glad that your tale of woe has transformed into a funny story about that one time…

Lost Wedding Band in Dublin, CA…FOUND!!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

Bay Area Ring Finders: Brendon Chapman… Metal Detecting Service/Call ASAP     925-580-2590

This week represents my first year anniversary of being a member of The Ring Finders Team.  I have been extremely proud of the efforts I have put in and the families that I have helped.  I have networked with some of the very best and most kind metal detectorists out there.  I have learned a ton about my machine(s) and myself.  It has been an absolute pleasure! So…when Shashi called seeking assistance in locating his wedding band, it was the perfect opportunity to cap off a very successful first year.

Shashi and his family had been knocking around a volleyball at Emerald Glen Park in Dublin, CA when he felt the ring slip off while striking the ball.  The most frustrating and helpless feeling has to be when you know exactly the when, where, and how you have lost an object, but just can not locate it despite monumental efforts.  This was the case for Shashi and his family who spend a goodly amount of time searching before they happened upon my information.  With the waning light and night looming, I requested he capture the GPS location with his phone and we agreed to meet the following day.

When we met, Shashi was able to put me literally on the exact spot his ring was lost and… we made the recovery!!!  Shashi was in disbelief that we had found it and I was overjoyed to cap off my first year with such a commanding triumph!

Extremely valuable diamond wedding ring almost ends up in landfill…FOUND!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

Michelle contacted me on the morning of the 24th.  A ring had been lost in a kitchen during a dinner party that Monday. Despite extensive searching by the family, and a plumber the ring had not been located.  Would I be willing to assist?

Always up for the task, I agreed to meet her at the home later that afternoon.  Not knowing what I might be facing I brought all manner of tools; my trusted metal detector, a video endoscope, long reach recovery tools, a selection of hand tools, etc.

I arrived to meet Michelle promptly at our agreed upon time.  As it turns out Michelle is a fun, positive thinking individual who serves as a personal assistant for our client (who wishes to remain anonymous).  Michelle told me a bit more about the back story and showed me a photo of the ring, a real Bobby Dazzler!

Garbage pick-up would be the next morning and the two of us decided that clearing the trash bins should be the priority task.  We emptied the trash onto a tarp and attempted to use the metal detector to search, however the plethora of metallic objects within the trash rendered the detector useless.  This would have to be a hands and eyes search.

Michelle and I kept a positive attitude during our less than appealing task and even shared a few laughs while searching.  We cleared 1 trash bin, and on to the next.  Just when we reached the last of the trash bags to search, I tore open a bag, stuck a nitrile gloved hand into it, and that’s when I saw the flash…we had made the recovery!

This recovery was a good reminder to me that although I have invested in a lot of special technology and tools, these are not always what is needed.  Sometimes what is required is just good old fashioned search techniques, persistence, and a positive attitude.  It also brings up another factor, seek help and call early.  Less than 18 hours later this very valuable ring could have made it’s way to a waste station or landfill and that would have been a real tragedy.

Ending on a positive note, I was very happy that the ring was recovered and to take part in the new legacy and story of this cherished item.

Wedding Ring Lost at a Pacifica, Ca Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

We made the recovery!!!  Just after 2:30pm on June 21st good friend and fellow metal detectorist Jes Muse contacted me.  She was feeling under the weather but had received a call in Pacifica, Ca.  She asked if I’d be willing to take it.

With local weather being over 100 degrees, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to beat the heat and lend a helping hand.

I contacted a Mrs. Laurie LeRowe for additional information and to confirm my appointment, and 1 hour later we were introduced beach side.  Mrs. LeRowe provided some background information as well as some landmarks defining our search area and our search began.

Approximately 20 minutes into the search and only my second good target, we made the recovery!!!

There were many reasons leading to the success of this story and there is some credit due…Thank you to Marshal Smith of Portland, OR who put the family in contact with Jes Muse (Pacifica, CA).  Thank you to Jes Muse who always puts her best foot forward seeing to the needs of those who contact her.  This was not the first time she’s entrusted me with a search and recovery and I hope not the last.  Also to the American Mining Supply for the new machine I used for this recovery, thank you!  Last, but most important, Mrs. Laurie LeRowe who tirelessly sought out information and services and who coordinated with most of the folks mentioned above to make this search happen and successful…Great Job!

To Fernandes and Hilary, I am grateful to get the opportunity to be woven into your love story and wish you both endless happiness in the future.

We Made The Recovery!!!

Testimonial for Brendon Chapman:

Brendan’s willingness and promptness to drive more than an hour to the site, through traffic (valley folks heading to the beach for cooler temps in addition to afternoon traffic) his detective skills and tools, and most importantly his kindness and generosity of time and effort with no guarantees of success. The ring was lost the afternoon before. Thankfully we were able to bless him for his efforts, skills, time and gas. I enjoyed our visit as we waited for Hilary and Fernandes to arrive after their works, to thank him in person . I highly recommend Brendon, and the others who helped me find him…Ringfinders site, Marshall, And Jes.

The recovery that started it all: Lost diamond engagement ring lost in Milpitas, CA…Found!!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

I had seen the call for help go out over one of my many metal detecting groups.  When I offered my assistance I didn’t think I’d have the opportunity and thus went about packing for my Mount Diablo overnight with my boys and some friends.

When another md’ing friend asked if I was still available and that another of our piers had searched but had no luck, I again offered my assistance, packed some gear, and off I went.

The client took me to the 5th floor balcony from which the ring was lost and we observed the location from above.  After moving back down to ground level it was revealed that two rings went over the edge and one had been recovered that night from the planter bed.  Now, knowing that a searcher had previously swung over the area, I knew that if we were going to find it, it was going to be found within one of the many plants and bushes in the planter bed.

I offered the client the opportunity to assist by using a Garret pin-pointer to start probing the area including the foliage.  I did the same, and within 20 minutes or so, an ecstatic client exclaimed, “I’ve found it!”  It was indeed within one of the plants of the planter bed.  The stoke was high on both our parts and he requested “Can I give you a hug?” To which I replied “of course.”

The successful search and recovery sparked really good vibes that carried me throughout the weekend. This would serve as my first search as a member of The Ring Finders team and…we made the recovery!!!

Lost Engagement Ring In Fairfield, CA…Found!!!!!

  • from Walnut Creek (California, United States)

After receiving a call from an obviously disappointed individual who had lost her engagement ring, I made my way out to Fairfield to conduct a search.

The family had spent numerous hours previously looking for the lost ring with little luck.

When I arrived the individual explained the circumstances and sequences of events that led to the somewhat mysterious disappearance.

I searched a good amount of time and was almost at the point of conceding when…

there it was!!!  We made the recovery!!!

Testimonial for Brendon Chapman via text message:

“I would recommend Brendon to anyone in the CA Bay Area who needs help finding lost precious jewelry such as wedding and engagement rings.  He is prompt in responding, empathetic, and sincere.”  “Thanks again. And g’luck in future findings.”
