Lost gold ring in backyard…South Surrey, BC

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was at work when I got a call from a young lady who said that he daughter lost her ring that was given to her by her bother. She said that she googled and found TheRingFinders and thought that she would give it a chance.

I could tell she was a little sceptical but most people are until you find what they’ve lost then they become belivers!

She told me that they had a wedding party in their back yard and that’s where her 9 year old daughter was last seen with the ring.

I arrived at her place in the evening and it was dark but that is fine for me! I don’t mind working at night and sometimes its easier and not as hot.

She showed me where her daughter said that she’d lost the ring and after a couple of minutes and no ring I just expanded the search a little and bang! There was her ring sitting in the yellow grass and hard to see but my detector see’s it all…

Heirloom Diamond Ring Lost and Returned..

  • from Del Mar (California, United States)

So Kathy called me on Tues afternoon and told me about her husband’s ring, lost in the surf at Torrey Pines State Beach 2 days prior on Sunday, right around high tide which would turn out to be fortunate for all of us.  The ring belonged to his dad who passed away 25 years ago. It has immense significance to the family and I could tell its loss was devastating. He had been boogie boarding with his son in waist deep water when it slipped off his finger.  He knew exactly the moment he lost it and though they gave it a valiant try, recovery would be impossible as the surf that day was brutal. Kathy gave me a vague description of where it was lost and agreed to meet with me on the beach the next morning at low tide.  I arrived early the next morning and started hunting the general area. When she arrived, Kathy was able to narrow down a 100’ length of beach and gave me the approx distance her husband had been from shore. Now this is where it gets good. She wandered off and I started at the North end of the search area and walked straight out into the surf. About 30 feet out in waist high water, in less than 5 minutes, Wham!! I got that unmistakable low tone. The surf was persistent and I missed it on the first couple scoops. It dropped to the bottom of the hole and I almost lost the tone. I dug frantically between rollers and finally got a good sound next to the hole.  A second later it was safely clanking around on stainless. It was a beautiful old diamond ring. By now, Kathy had wandered way up the beach so I took a picture with my cell phone and texted it to her with no comment, just the pic :).   I’ve never seen anyone run so fast on the beach with a kid in her arms :).   After a really cool emotional reunion and an incredible face time conversation with her husband, I left them to enjoy the morning.  Ring returns are always fun and rewarding but this one was freaking awesome!! I am so happy I could bring happiness to these guys. It was so worth the time and effort.  It was a real joy to meet you Kathy and I really appreciate your token of gratitude.

Platinum, Gold & Diamond Wedding Band Returned

  • from Del Mar (California, United States)

Nothing too unusual about this story.  Just the same old “He lost his ring when it slipped off his finger in the back yard when he was throwing colored powder at his friends and family during a “Holi” celebration also known as the festival of colors in India” Happens every day right? 🙂 Josh contacted me on Tuesday, we met up on Wednesday and in less than 15 minutes I ran my coil over his gorgeous wedding ring. Everyone was a winner that afternoon. Josh got his ring back and I got to be a hero:). I also received a very nice monetary reward. Thanks Josh..

Platinum ring lost and returned at Del Mar, Dog Beach

  • from Del Mar (California, United States)

A few minutes after arriving home from a Sunday night hunt the day before Labor Day I received a call from Shakeh. She and her family were in San Diego for a few days and were enjoying a beautiful Sunday on the beach at Del Mar. Suddenly, their vacation pretty much came to a halt when her Husband lost his wedding ring while wading in the San Dieguito River. Her girlfriend had told her about a metal detecting service so she looked it up, found The Ring Finders and called me.  I agreed to look for it the next morning.  Now this river can be very difficult to hunt.  The current doesn’t match the tides so you never know which way and how fast the flow will be. Also it can sand in very quickly, sometimes adding a foot or two along its banks over night. All this, coupled with the fact that he had lost it in knee high water at mid tide was going to make this hunt quite a challenge. So I started at 5AM. The surf was high and coming all the way up the river and the current was running about 4 knots. In these conditions it was pretty much impossible to grid. I continued my search until 9AM with no luck. I was about to leave when I got a strong feeling that I should try to give her one last shot. I called the Wife, put 3 bucks in the meter and went back to work. An hour later this beautiful solid platinum band was clanking around in my scoop. Man what a feeling! I texted Shakeh and met up with her and her two daughters in the parking lot of their hotel where I was rewarded with hugs, muffins and a nice monetary gift.  Shakeh said that what I had done for them was priceless. Well I can tell you that having the experience of seeing the expression of pure joy on her face when she saw her “lost forever” treasure, that’s priceless!!

Thanks for making my day Shakeh and for the nice reward.

Lost Tiffany Silver Pendant UBC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The other day I received a call from a young lady by the name of Ciara that had lost a very special small Silver Tiffany Pendent in the shape of a bean. This bean was a symbol of love given to her by her mother.  Ciara is a rugby player for UBC (University British Columbia) and at practice she forgot to take her pendent off and during the workout it was ripped off her neck by accident.

She was very smart to make a mental note to the exact location it was ripped off her neck. This is fantastic as it makes the search much more easier when we can focus the search in a small area, specially when the item is so small.

I asked the type question that I always do to make sure I was in the right area and I had her put out some red cones to mark the search area.  After 10 minutes or so I bent down to check out a signal with my pin pointer and saw a little silver bean in the grass!

I put it in my hand and walked over to Ciara to ask her a few more questions and then held out the bean so she could see that I found it…I love when I can surprise people and she was surprised!!

I found out that the silver bean was her good luck charm,  she felt it helped her on her tests and on the rugby field. I’m happy that she has it back! Good Luck on your rugby season!!!

Lost Women’s Silver Rings in Grandview Heights, OH. “FOUND”

  • from Newark (Ohio, United States)
Contact:

I received a call about a pair of lost silver rings in the backyard somewhere. The rings have more sentimental value than they do monetary value. They were lost by a simple over head toss of a ball into the netted trampoline by his wife. And there went the rings flying through the air to be lost forever. After they search and search though the grass for the rings with luck, that is when they call me to do a search. I found one ring and a couple of feet later there was the other, both tuck into the grass from out of eye site. His was very happy to have the rings return back to them.

Hello!  My name is Josh Kimmel.  I recently joined The Ring Finders.  I am very involved with metal detecting and have a true passion for this hobby / lifestyle as well as a passion for recovering history in all of it’s forms.  My passion for metal detecting goes beyond just merely trying to find pieces of the past, I also have a passion for helping others locate those special lost items that they thought may have been lost forever.  That’s right!, I enjoying trying to help others find these items and strive to reunite people with their items.  Jewelry such as class rings, wedding bands, engagement rings, gold, silver, platinum and other rings and jewelry to keys and even property markers.  I have been asked to search for many different things and strive to do my best to locate them when possible.   One of my favorite returns was of a silver and platinum class ring that had been lost for approx. 31 years when I one day found it and tracked the owner down to return it to her within 2 weeks.  When people lose that precious, sentimental item it can be very distressing and I do what I can.  Each lost item is unique and has a story of it’s own.  When that item is lost by someone that story doesn’t have to end.    With a recovery that story can continue.

If you are in the Celina, OH or Grand Lake St. Mary’s area or even the Ohio counties of Mercer, Auglaize, Van Wert, Allen and other outlying areas I just may be able to help.  Why try to rent a metal detector or find a metal detector rental to try and locate your lost sentimental item or a particular metal item you would like found when you can contact a metal detector specialist that will use many years of experience as well as some of the best equipment to try and locate that item for you.  Forget renting the detector and get a detectorist!

My years of experience and the equipment I use enable me to find and locate many different metal items in all terrains.  Parks, private yards, school yards, tot lots, beaches, snow, water(up to 5ft deep), fields, woods, hillsides and anywhere else for that matter.  Rings, jewelry, property markers, cache hunting, property searches and so on I’m always trying to help people with my experience.  I even offer my services to Realtor s, Law enforcement, and insurace companies as well others and do what I can to help.

If you are in or around any of the above mentioned or surrounding areas of Ohio contact me and we can discuss the situation.

Keys at Tecolote Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Tatiana saw my Craig’s list ad for metal detecting service and called me to help her find a lost set of keys at the enterance to Tecolote Canyon. She lost the keys in an area with some ice plant, both dead and alive, and unfortunately, some poison oak too! I don’t think I got any on me but I was hunting in it a bit before I noticed those rusty colored tridents among the other follage. It’s absolutely amazing how a fairly large set of keys can hide in plain sight. The search area was relatively small and we knew they were there so it was just a matter of time but I went over that same area 4 times without finding them but they practially jumped into my hand on the 5 pass. It’s strange how that works sometimes. Got a big hit, looked down, and they’re sitting there in plain site! Tatiana was happy to be able to drive her car home and not have to call AAA and then pay through the nose to get replacement keys made. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward. It keeps me able to help others.

Lost 3 Ring Wedding Set Raking Leaves in Backyard, in Cedar Hill,Tx

IMG_1494 IMG_1495

We received a call from Christine about 3pm on Sunday afternoon.  She got our name and number from a friend she had told that she had lost her wedding set of 3 rings.

Christine lives on about a acre of land, she had gone out to the back of the property to help her husband bag up some leaves that he had been raking together.  They worked together for about a hour and finished up and carried the bags of leaves up to the garage about a half acre away.   That was when she realized that her Wedding Set (3 rings) was missing.  In a panic, she and her husband looked all over the yard, they dumped the leaf bags out but did not see anything.  They spent several hours looking with no luck.   Later in the day while talking with her friend, she told her about the lost rings.  Her friend said, wait a minute I heard about this website of people who find rings.  She Googled and found “The Ring Finders” website and called Christine back and gave her our number.

It was about 3pm when Christine called and she lived 41 miles from us.  I told her we would be there in about and hour & a half.  We needed to hurry as I was concerned it would get dark and it was already quite cold, and the darkness would only make it colder.   We arrived and got our 2 Garrett AT Pros and Pinpointers out then Christine walked us to the back of the acre of property.  She showed us all the places she walked and was helping her husband with the leaves.   Ellen and I chatted about what area we would grid off visually and began to detect.   Within 10 minutes I hear Ellen say “Here’s One”,  I joined her as we looked through about 4-6 inches of leaves in a pile but nothing else rang up on the detectors.   I told Ellen to keep looking and I ask Christine to show me the bags of leaves, my thinking was that if one ring was in the pile of leaves that they had been bagging then it was likely the other rings would be in the bags of leaves near the garage.   I began to scan the full plastic bags of leaves with my detector and got 3 very light hits.   I kept scanning but nothing else hit so I backed up to the bag with something metal inside.   I tore a small hole in the bag and began to stick my Pinpointer into the bag.  As I got a signal, I used my hand to begin pulling out whatever the metal was.  1st hit was piece of wire, the second was a metal screw and the 3rd hit I could not see it.  Finally I saw a glint of Gold in the bag.  I began to smile but had to fight the leaves to find it, and finally the smallest of the 3 rings rings was found.   Christine was standing right beside me and could not believe I found it.  Now the only ring missing was the most expensive, the diamond solitaire with several small diamonds around the band.   After determining that nothing else was in the 4-5 bags of leaves, I walked back to the rear of the property and told Ellen that I had found one but that one was still missing.  She had been working out visual grid and I went back and started back over the grid working the opposite direction.   I made several passes checking every 2inch or less hit that I got regardless of the type of signal.  Then I got a shaky 44-46 hit that was very weak,  as I was checking everything I almost kept going but thank goodness I did not.  I reached down and moved the leaves and grass and there it was, the diamond solitaire twinkled at me.  I reached down and picked it up and ask Christine, “Would this make you Happy!”  She and her husband were so excited and grateful.  It is so much fun to see the reaction of our customers when we are successful.

So 3 rings, 1 in the leaf pile, 1 in a trash bag a 1/2 acre away and one in the grass 5-6 feet away from the 1st one.

Another successful hunt for “The Ring Finders”.
