Amanda was visiting Clearwater Beach with her parents and placed her gold ring from her grandmother and silver wedding ring in a cup holder on the beach chair for safekeeping. Upon leaving she realized the 2 rings fell out of the cup holder and were lost in the sand. Andy her father found our SRARC website and contacted Howard Metts who scheduled a hunt. Dimitur Alipiev, Gary Leland, and Howard Metts met Amanda and her father on the beach the day they called which was 2 days after the rings were lost. After an hour Howard came up with the gold ring and unfortunately after another hour of hunting the wedding ring was not found. Amanda and her father were grateful to see the gold ring her grandmother had given her. Great job Team SRARC!

Kyle and Ally were down from Nashville to Longboat Key visiting with Kyles mother for a few days. They were out on the beach enjoying the sun and surf. Kyle and a friend were tossing a football around. At one point, Kyle was standing on shore ready to hike the football to his friend who was out in the water. As he hiked the ball he felt his wedding ring fly off. He didn’t know how far it flew but they all searched along with volunteers from the beach. After several hours they gave up and Ally searched and found SRARC ring finders. She explained the situation to Joe Szemer and Joe contacted Mike Miller. Mike made arrangements to meet and he arrived that afternoon. The water was rough and hunting became very difficult and Mike had to stop. Mike said he would return the next morning when the water had settled down. The next morning he went to work and soon the sound of gold was ringing in his ears. Up came the missing wedding ring and Kyle and Ally were full of excitement and smiles. It is always a pleasure to be a part of bringing smiles to peoples faces.

Erin was down from Maryland with her husband and friends on Longboat Key for a winter break. They had packed up and headed to the beach for a nice day in the sun. As they were setting their chairs and umbrella up Erin caught a piece of the umbrella in one of her earrings. She wrestled with it for a few seconds and then felt the earring come off so she finished putting the umbrella in place thinking she would find her earring after things were all setup. When she finished she started looking for the earring and found nothing. The group spent the next three hours searching the area around the umbrella. They finally gave up and spent some time enjoying the beach. After returning to their rental unit Erin searched the internet for a rental metal detector. In the search SRARC ring finders popped up and she thought that she would be smart to let an experienced detectorist search instead of trying herself. She contacted Joe Szemer who contacted Mike Miller who then made arrangements to meet Erin at the location. After about 1 minute of hunting Mike found the earring and returned it to a smiling but disbelieving Erin. They all cheered and smiled but could not believe it was found so fast after they searched for so long. SRARC is happy to be able to send Erin home with her special earring and not with just a sad story about a lost earring.

Huge thank you to the group Srarc that goes out and helps people like me who could of had a sad wife on first day of vacation. Passing football in the ocean and it knocked my ring off. 30 minutes of searching and no luck. Looked over and saw a fella with a metal detector. With no real hope of finding it I did say I found it once with one in my yard. I had no real hope of finding it in the ocean. I asked the guy would his pick up rings and he said yes did you lose one. I told him I did and he said let me see what I can do. Within 20 minutes he waved me over and had found my ring down about 2 feet of sand in 3 feet of water. I asked him what did I owe him and he said have a great time on vacation. So relieved and so amazed at the odds of him being on the part of the ocean I was at the time I needed it the most. Thanks again for helping us. This experience has revived a little more hope in humanity that society is not what you see on social media where no one wants to help someone without it being posted first. He didn’t ask for a share, post, or video, but was ok with me posting if I wanted to. He helped the vacation not start on a bad note Happy wife, great vacation. More pictures and stories to come but this was the first of our great adventure on vacation this year.

Clearwater Police contacted Howard Metts to see if SRARC could help located a police badge lost during a scuffle with a suspect in the sand by an outside bar. Howard Metts and Mike Shuler responded to the hunt behind a hotel on the beach. After 40 minutes of hunting, Howard Metts came up with the badge and gave it to the police officer who oversaw the hunt. The chief of police and officer who had the badge torn off his uniform were very appreciative for our groups service and return of the badge.

Naomi and her husband and their two children were vacationing from Huston, Texas with other family members in Riverside. They all went to the beach on Anna Maria Island for some fun in the sun and gulf waters. They set up camp with a canopy and chairs and went about enjoying the day. At some point Naomi was in the water and could feel that her beautiful wedding ring was to loose and asked her husband to go put her rings into the beach bag under the canopy. He did as she asked except he put the rings onto a chair cup holder instead of the bag. When it came time to leave they picked up the chairs and the rings flew into the sand. Naomi’s brother spotted one of the rings but after continuing to search the wedding ring could not be found. After arriving home that evening Naomi’s grandfather found the SRARC ring finders on the internet. They contacted Howard Metts and he put out a request for hunters. Mike Miller responded and was soon on the hunt. After about 30 minutes the ring was recovered. Naomi was already in Orlando to catch a flight home so she asked her sister to meet Mike and the ring was put into her hands for the safe return to Naomi. SRARC is happy to have been able to bring another happy ending to a vacation in Florida.
