Huge thank you to the group Srarc that goes out and helps people like me who could of had a sad wife on first day of vacation. Passing football in the ocean and it knocked my ring off. 30 minutes of searching and no luck. Looked over and saw a fella with a metal detector. With no real hope of finding it I did say I found it once with one in my yard. I had no real hope of finding it in the ocean. I asked the guy would his pick up rings and he said yes did you lose one. I told him I did and he said let me see what I can do. Within 20 minutes he waved me over and had found my ring down about 2 feet of sand in 3 feet of water. I asked him what did I owe him and he said have a great time on vacation. So relieved and so amazed at the odds of him being on the part of the ocean I was at the time I needed it the most. Thanks again for helping us. This experience has revived a little more hope in humanity that society is not what you see on social media where no one wants to help someone without it being posted first. He didn’t ask for a share, post, or video, but was ok with me posting if I wanted to. He helped the vacation not start on a bad note Happy wife, great vacation. More pictures and stories to come but this was the first of our great adventure on vacation this year.

Naomi and her husband and their two children were vacationing from Huston, Texas with other family members in Riverside. They all went to the beach on Anna Maria Island for some fun in the sun and gulf waters. They set up camp with a canopy and chairs and went about enjoying the day. At some point Naomi was in the water and could feel that her beautiful wedding ring was to loose and asked her husband to go put her rings into the beach bag under the canopy. He did as she asked except he put the rings onto a chair cup holder instead of the bag. When it came time to leave they picked up the chairs and the rings flew into the sand. Naomi’s brother spotted one of the rings but after continuing to search the wedding ring could not be found. After arriving home that evening Naomi’s grandfather found the SRARC ring finders on the internet. They contacted Howard Metts and he put out a request for hunters. Mike Miller responded and was soon on the hunt. After about 30 minutes the ring was recovered. Naomi was already in Orlando to catch a flight home so she asked her sister to meet Mike and the ring was put into her hands for the safe return to Naomi. SRARC is happy to have been able to bring another happy ending to a vacation in Florida.

Howard Metts contacted Robert Clarke Sunday evening, January 9th in regards to a lost diamond tennis bracelet in the sand on Clearwater Beach. Robert advised he could respond and contacted Leslie, the owner of the missing tennis bracelet, got her exact location on Clearwater beach and headed that way. Robert met Leslie and her son near Tower 1 on Clearwater beach where she explained while throwing a football around with her family she felt her diamond tennis bracelet come off. They were able to find SRARC and ringfinders thru the internet and called Howard. Smartly, Leslie stayed in the exact spot where she felt the bracelet come off. Robert started detecting at that spot and within one minute got a faint “1” signal on his Nox, took out his pin pointer and on the first sweep, the pin pointer hit the necklace, revealing it in the sand just below the surface. Leslie was overjoyed, crying with happiness, believing she would never see the necklace again and gave Robert a big hug and kiss on the check. Another successful SRARC jewelry recovery!

He removed it to wash his hands and didn’t realize until much later that he no longer had the ring with him! After returning to the site and raking through the sand with no luck, he turned to the internet to look into renting a metal detector. While he was searching, he discovered SRARC. He got in touch with club president Howard Metts, who put out a notice to the club’s Ringfinder members. Rob Clarke and Mike Shuler arranged to meet Bill at the spot where he remembered setting down his ring. Don and his wife were vacationing on Clearwater Beach when Don realized his wedding ring was missing. He had been in the water but may have lost it on the beach while in the dry sand. They were given our SRARC Ringfinder info from the Life Guard on duty and contacted Howard Metts several days latter. A hunt was scheduled with Rob Clarke, Howard Metts, Joe Montione, Pat Montione, and Ed Osmar responding. They hunted the dry sand for an hour with no luck. The team hunted the water for another hour before Howard came up with the ring. Howard mailed the ring to Seattle Washington and Don sent back a photo with the ring back on his finger again. Great job team!

Ring Recovery on Gulf Of Mexico Beach

Colin and Christina were down from Toronto with their 2 children finally getting to enjoying a nice sunny beach day after the recent cold snap.

Christina took off her rings to apply sun lotion to her kids and set them next to her on the beach towel. As some time passed she took the towel and shook off the sand and forgot she had left the rings on the towel. Panic ensued and after a frantic 30 minutes of looking, Colin googled metal detectors thinking he could rent one to look when SRARC’s web page came up. Colin called member Stan Flack who lives only minutes from where they were and Stan headed out as soon as possible.

Upon arrival, Stan found a teared eyed and distraught Christina. After a few details on what had happened, Stan started to work and within just a few minutes, both rings were recovered.

More water works from Christina a high five from Colin and hugs from the kids and all was right with Christina’s world again.

As always, it was our pleasure.
