Patrick and his family were down to Longboat Key from Toronto, Canada for a short winter break. The whole group was out on the sand and Patrick was tossing a football back and forth with his dad when he realized his Wedding ring was missing. They all looked through the sand and raked the area that they had been playing but could not find it. Someone walking along the beach suggested they look online for help and as soon as Patrick googled “Metal Detecting Service”, SRARC ring finders popped up. Patrick called Joe Szemer and Joe called Mike Miller. Mike set up an appointment to meet at the site. Patrick laid out the area he thought the ring would be in and after about 20 minutes Mike found the ring. There were lots of smiles and now the rest of the vacation can be enjoyed with no bad memories.

Jerzy was down with his family while his son was attending IMG Academy soccer camp. They decided to stay a few extra days to enjoy time on Anna Maria Island at the beach and in the Gulf of Mexico. Jerzy was out in about knee deep water tossing a ball with his son when he felt sand under his wedding ring. He stopped tossing the ball and spun the ring on his finger and pushed it to his knuckle to rinse the sand off. His son then tossed him the ball and when the ball hit his hand off went his ring. They looked for the ring but as we all know it is almost impossible to find it once it hits the sand. Jerzy found SRARC ring finders with Google and soon Mike Miller was in contact and went to meet him at the beach. Jerzy showed Mike the area where he had lost it but the water was to rough for a safe hunt so Mike said he would return when the tide was right and the water was calmer. Mike returned a few days later and hunted for three hours and had no luck. Still waiting for a good tide Mike returned a couple days later and finally had calm water. Two hours into the hunt the ring finally revealed itself. When Mike texted Jerzy a picture of his ring he was overjoyed. Since Jerzy and family have returned home it will be a few days until he can put it back on his finger and I’m sure when he opens the package he will have a huge smile on his face. It is always such a pleasure to return an item the owner thought was gone forever.

Bo and Erica were down from Seattle visiting with family on Anna Maria Island. They all headed out to the beach to spend some time in the sun and surf. After setting up a space on the sand Bo decided he wanted to go for a swim. He took off his shoes and just to be safe he put his wedding ring into one of the shoes. A few hours later they were all packing up to leave and Bo grabbed his shoes and shook the sand out of them before putting them back on. He then suddenly remembered his ring had been in the shoe and was now gone. They all searched but no luck and then Erica found the ring finders and eventually contacted Howard Metts. They needed someone to come right away as they were leaving at 4:00 am the next morning. Howard contacted Mike Miller who responded immediately with his visiting daughter Kimberly and they met Bo at the beach location. Bo defined an area and Mike went to work. In about 5 minutes Mike got the hit and up came the lost wedding ring. Bo was overjoyed and Mike was all smiles to be able to return the ring. Kimberly did the photographs in which you can see how happy Bo was. All the best to Bo and Erica on their return to Seattle.

Amy was down from Boston on Longboat Key to join a few friends for a few days in the sun and water. The group was playing in the water throwing a football around for a while and then they spotted a school of fish a little way down the beach trapped in a sand pool above the gulf. They wanted to rescue them so they dug a trench thru the sand and helped them return to the gulf. It had been a great day until Amy realized a very special ring that had been passed down to her was missing. Her great grandfather had gifted her great grandmother a gold ring on one of their anniversary’s. Then Amy’s grandfather had passed the ring on to her to keep it close in the family. They all searched but had no luck and then Amy found SRARC ring finders using Google. She contacted Joe Szemer who called Mike Miller who made arrangements for both of them to do a search. They met Amy and got all the particulars then split up to hunt in different areas. They tried the dry and wet sand first but finally had to get into the rough surf. After about 10 minutes Mike got lucky in thigh deep water and up came the ring. Amy was so excited that she gave Mike a big hug and was in disbelief that we had actually fount it. SRARC is very happy we could recover the keepsake items for Amy.

Erin was down from Maryland with her husband and friends on Longboat Key for a winter break. They had packed up and headed to the beach for a nice day in the sun. As they were setting their chairs and umbrella up Erin caught a piece of the umbrella in one of her earrings. She wrestled with it for a few seconds and then felt the earring come off so she finished putting the umbrella in place thinking she would find her earring after things were all setup. When she finished she started looking for the earring and found nothing. The group spent the next three hours searching the area around the umbrella. They finally gave up and spent some time enjoying the beach. After returning to their rental unit Erin searched the internet for a rental metal detector. In the search SRARC ring finders popped up and she thought that she would be smart to let an experienced detectorist search instead of trying herself. She contacted Joe Szemer who contacted Mike Miller who then made arrangements to meet Erin at the location. After about 1 minute of hunting Mike found the earring and returned it to a smiling but disbelieving Erin. They all cheered and smiled but could not believe it was found so fast after they searched for so long. SRARC is happy to be able to send Erin home with her special earring and not with just a sad story about a lost earring.

John was with his wife and children enjoying a family reunion on Anna Maria Island. They had all come down from fridge Minnesota and we enjoying the sun and beach. They had rented a golf cart to cruise around on the island. John was returning to their rental unit on the cart and on arrival he gave his son a big high five. As their hands met, John felt his wedding ring fly off. It was in the area of their shell covered driveway which had a large group of plants in the middle. John’s wife had heard the plink of metal hitting metal and thought the ring must have hit one of the vehicles or a metal rental sign in front of the plants. The whole group searched and searched but could not find the ring. John’s wife finally googled “lost ring” and she found SRARC ring finders. She called Joe Szemer and Joe called Mike who made arrangements to meet the group at the site. Mike searched the entire driveway with no luck and then began trying to search among the plants in the middle. John got down on hands and knees to try and help by lifting the plants up so Mike could search under them. In just a few minutes Mike heard the nice tone of a ring and sure enough there it was hiding under a plant. Everyone clapped and cheered when John held up his ring and returned it to his finger. It is always a great feeling to return something so special to the person that lost it. It just makes for big smiles all around.

Scott and Crystal from Bradenton were in a heated debate and in a fit of craziness Scott jumped up ran out the door and from the 4th floor balcony threw his wedding ring as far as he could. After thinking it over for an hour or so he decided it would be a good idea to go try and find it. He figured it had landed in a large grass area so went and purchased a metal detector to assist in the hunt. He hunted for a couple days and found many interesting pieces of junk but not the ring. They contacted SRARC through The Ring Finders web site and Joe Szemer passed the info on to Mike Miller. Mike made arrangements to meet them at the location and a short time later the hunt was on. While Scott was looking with his detector he had identified several locations he thought the ring might be in. He had ordered but had not received a pin pointer so he could check them out. He took Mike to each place and Mike said no to all but the last one. That one had a great tone and VDI. Mike put his pin pointer down and there it was. Mike got a big hug from Scott and lots of smiles from both Crystal and Scott. But the truth be told, had Scott received his pin pointer before Mike showed up he would have found it himself. Turns out Mike was just an assist. Congratulations Scott on your first ever recovery.
