I received a call from Guy right after dinner. I had been relaxing with my wife watching a little television when he called. He told me about his loss of some pendants that had great sentimental value to him, he had on a chain around his neck. His dog was playing when she jumped on him, and accidentally broke the chain, and everything went flying into the sand. He was able to find his chain, but not the pendants. He told me he marked the spot which was a good thing. I let him know that I would come immediately to do the search which surprised him, but I know from years of experience, that the sooner the search is made the better the chance of a recovery, as there are too many variables that come into play as time goes on to diminish the possibility of finding the lost item.

When I got to the beach Guy was waiting for me, and we walked out in the darkness to do the search. The main concern was finding the item Guy used to mark the area of the loss. We both had out lights on searching. I was a little worried because the super high tide might have washed his marker away. Finally close to 10:00 PM Guy found it. It was a 2×4 that he had forced into the sand, and although the water came up it did not move. I began my search on one side of the marker where Guy thought the items fell with no signals. I then began on the other side, and received a signal which I dug, and poured out the sand. I checked again, picking up a load of sand. After I shook it out, in my scoop was a gold ring which Guy identified as his mother’s. I ran my coil over the area again getting another signal, scooped and had his gold cross. One more time and I was able to give him his daughter’s name in gold. A successful search with a very happy, and relieved Guy!

Guy sent the following testimonial:

Hi,

My name is Guyen (Guy) and I was taking my daughters pet Luna for a walk on the Marina del Rey beach on Monday the 21st 2021. Luna loves to play with rocks on the beach by digging holes and burying the rocks. That day was like any other day but suddenly Luna wanted to get my attention and lunged towards me. That broke the necklace. I had a cross, my mothers wedding band that was gifted to me and my daughters name in 22ct gold in Sinhalese. I found the necklace but the other three items just vanished. This was at 5.50pm. Luna and I was looking for the lost items until 7.30pm and decided to call it a night. Before leaving, we marked the spot to come back the next day to look for the three lost items.

I came home and searched online for metal detector rentals to rent one for the next day and I was unable to find one. Then I randomly stumbled upon the website of Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders”. I immediately called the number and Mr. Smith answered the phone. I explained my situation and he said that he would like to come out that night itself as the beach cleanup tractor can shift the items or the tide can wash the missing items Mr. Smith said that he will meet me in 30-45 minutes.

I explained this to my daughter who was skeptical and was concerned for my safety as I was going to meet this person that I connected online to look for the three missing pieces of jewelry. She even took my phone and shared my location with her incase this person who volunteered to help me was to harm me.

Mr. Smith met me at the Marina del Rey beach and we walked towards the location where the jewelry vanished. It was about 9.50pm. I directed Mr. Smith to the location and within a few minutes he found the Cross, my mothers wedding band and my daughters name in 22ct gold pendent. It was unbelievable to say the least. I asked Mr. Smith how much it would be for his services and he said that he would only take a donation. He did ask if it was okay for him to take a picture of me holding the three items that was found. Naturally I agreed as it was the least that I could do.

My faith in humanity was renewed that day. Good people who genuinely want to help people do exist. For anyone who goes to the beach, I highly recommend that you store the number of Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders” in your phone. You never know when you might need his help. It’s as good as having AAA on the beach.

Thank you Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders” from the bottom of my heart.
Guy from Marina del Rey

Gold Cartier Love Ring Lost in the Sand of Malibu Beach…Found and Joyfully Returned.

I was enjoying a good sound sleep when my phone rang at 5:30 AM. It was Robyn. She had lost her gold Cartier ring while taking pictures at about 10:00 PM the night before near the water at the beach. She reached down to wash some sand from her hands when in a moment, the ring that was a little loose fitting came off, and disappeared in the sand and water. Robyn had not been able to sleep well the night before, found my information on The Ring Finders site, and called immediately, just as I ask. I let her know that I had to get some nourishment, wake up a bit, and I would be on my way. She said she would meet me there. Always, the sooner the search happens the more apt you are to have a successful recovery.

I got to the beach a little before Robyn, and began searching the area she showed me by a Google Earth shot she sent to me. I did not find anything, the sand I covered was free from any type of metal. I was ready to enter the water to look when Robyn came with her husband David. We discussed the loss, and they showed me that I might have been looking in the wrong area by about 30 feet. I moved over, and began a grid working back to the original search area. Working my way up the slope I finally got a signal, and my hopes rose, as I am certain they did for Robyn, I dug, and up came a piece of aluminum which turned out to be a bit disheartening for the 3 of us. I continued working towards the original search area, when I received my second signal down in the moist wet sand. I dug, and I could see a small piece of iron come up. I picked it up and went over the hole again with the coil, and received another signal, I scooped again, dumped the sand, and kicked it across the beach when there on top was a nice gold ring. I looked at Robyn and David, and gave them a thumbs up. They immediately came over, and David picked up the ring in disbelief, both of them thinking it was lost forever. We as ring finders know that time is the enemy of a good recovery, and Robyn made the right choice by calling me immediately, not caring what time it was. I was so happy to get this ring back to them. Their smiles tell it all!

Eugene contacted me about his ring he had lost the day before in the sand at the beach. He got hold of me early in the morning, so I was thinking there was a chance the machines had not gone over the whole beach. He was not going to be able to meet me there, so he sent me a good group of photos showing where he and his family had been; everything helps. I let him know I would head out as soon as I had something to eat.

When I arrived at the beach, and looked out over the sand, my heart sank. I could see that the tractors had already gone through, and the machines had cleaned the beach. I took some pictures of the carnage, and sent them to Eugene explaining how it was unlikely that the ring would still be there, but that because I had made the drive, I would still make the search. I used his photos and maps to coordinate my position for the search, and then began what I really thought would be a futile exercise. I made two passes, got a good signal, dug, and to my surprise, there was a nice shiny ring in my scoop. I immediately took a picture, and sent it to Eugene asking if he was Irish, because he had an Irishman’s luck this day. We had to wait a week before I could get it back to him, and when I did, it was a pleasure, as we had a great time in fellowship.

I was on the freeway when I received a call from Ian. Ian was at the beach when his ring was lost in the sand. This was a ring that he purchased while on a great trip with a bunch of his friends, and reminded him of the great memories, so it meant a lot to him. He had thrown a football to his brother when his ring came off, and disappeared. They searched the area for about an hour with no luck, and I was already on my way.

I got to the beach, and found them quickly. we went over what happened. the area wasn’t large, and I could see where they had been searching. He showed me where he had been standing when he threw the ball, and had placed his flip flops there as a marker. They had searched out from there, but I began at the flip flops. I received an immediate signal, dug and had Ian’s ring in the scoop. Apparently when he threw the ball, the motion of his hand put the ring at his feet, the last place he thought it would be. Glad to have made his day!

Got a call from Denis after he lost his cell phone while playing soccer with his family on the beach. they were running around, when his phone came out of his pocket, and disappeared in the sand. I left as soon as we got off of the phone, in order to do a search as soon as possible.

When I got there they were easy to find, and we went over the loss, and the possible areas to look in. I began in the most likely area. I made a few passes with no luck. His sister pointed out another area, and some people that were there were kind enough to move their belonging to enable me to search that area as well. A few more passes, and then strong signal. I carefully scooped, and brought up the phone. When I showed them the phone they were very excited to have it back, and I was glad to have made Denis’ day.

Michael and Clair contacted me after losing Clair’s necklace in the beach sand. She had taken it off, and put it in her chair for safe keeping, but forgot it was there when they were ready to leave. They picked up their belongings leaving, and realized, too late that the necklace was now lost in the sand. I let then let them know I would come right away, because time is the enemy of a successful recovery.

When I got to the beach I found them, and fortunately they had kept the place of the loss. We discussed the how behind the loss, and I began my search. It took 2 passes, and a couple of pieces of trash metal, and then a good signal. I scooped the sand, and looked inside, but did not see anything. It was getting dark, so seeing was a bit difficult. I put my coil over the hole again to see if I missed the item, and got no signal. I flipped my scoop over to put it on my belt when I noticed the jeweled piece dangling from the bottom of the scoop. I grabbed it and carefully removed the rest of the chain from the scoop, handing it to Clair. They were so happy to see it again. Turns out it was the first gift to Clair from Michael, so the sentimental significance was quite strong. Another happy day!

I received a call from Jarred asking for help in finding his wife Allison’s wedding ring lost after taking it off to put on sunscreen. She had taken off two rings, and put them in her shorts pocket for safe keeping, but after getting up to go play volley ball with her friends, she realized they were gone. She and her husband, as well as her friends searched, and were able to find one of the rings, but the ring that was originally her grandmother’s was gone, I told them I would be able to get there as soon as I completed another search that I was currently on, and as soon as I was done I would let them know I was on my way.

I got the beach, and found Jarred and Allison. They showed me where Allison had been sitting, and where they found the other ring, so I began my search there, with no results. She then showed me the path she took to the volleyball court, and I slowly covered the area finding a couple of pieces of trash metal, and a dime. I then covered the court where she had played, and also the area where she had shagged some of the balls out of the court. I then worked back to the original area covering a different path. When we got back, Allison’s friends had moved all of the belongings so I could perform a more thorough search in the area. I worked back from where they had recovered the other ring, and at least 5 feet back from where she had been sitting I got a good signal, and recovered her ring. The whole group of her friends erupted with joy, and had me line up with them for a group shot. What a fun and happy eventful day!

I was on my way back from a week in the High Sierra about 15 miles from home from a 350 mile drive when I received a desperation call from Yvette who had lost her engagement ring in the sand at the beach. I asked if she could wait for me to get home, and I would immediately come and help her, she said she could wait. I got home, grabbed my equipment, and headed out, letting my wife and son start to unpack from the trip.

When I got to the beach Yvette, and her family met me, and showed me an area that they had marked out in the sand believing it was where the ring was lost. I could see mounds of sand where they had been working moving the sand around looking for the ring. We talked about what she was doing when the ring was lost, and it seemed very likely that they had been looking in the right vicinity, so I began my search there. I flattened the mounds to scan them thoroughly, covering the area completely, but no ring. I then began moving out, and on the edge of the area they had marked out, received a good signal, dug, and there was Yvette’s engagement ring. When I gave it to her there were tears of joy, and the excitement of all the family members. Her father then told me that it was her birthday as well; what a great day!

Yvette sent the following testimonial:

My name is Yvette Cisneros. I have written this testimony about 3 times now and I can’t find the right words to express the gratitude I have for Steve Smith. After losing my engagement ring at Redondo Beach , I lost hope of ever finding it again. My mom suggested renting a metal detector online. So when I searched “where to rent a metal detector, the first site that popped up was theringfinders.com. I then proceeded to open the page, saw Steve’s number and called. When he showed up walking down the beach with all his gear my heart felt relief. When he found me he asked a few questions as to where it might have possibly fallen off, so I showed him. (I also had made a barrier around where I thought it might have been). He then equipped himself to start the scavenger hunt. He found a quarter and a penny before he found my ring and let me tell you every time he would get one out my heart just felt like it was going to explode. When I finally got my ring I was overjoyed with emotions. I cried like a baby. I can’t ever put to words how grateful I am to have been able to find theringfinders.

Also i would love to add… he found my ring in less than 5 min. Which I had spent an hour looking for. Thank you a million times Steve. You are amazing and the job you do is god sent!

I was sound asleep when my phone began to ring early in the morning. When I answered, it was Kyle on the other end asking if I could help him find his IPhone he had lost at the beach the night before. Well knowing that this beach is cleaned daily by the City, I asked Kyle if he would be able to meet me there as soon as possible to show me where the loss occurred which he agreed to. So I got dressed, got in my truck, and was on my way.

When I got to the beach, Kyle and I found each other. He then went on to explain that he was with friends jumping to the music that they were playing, when everything came out of his pockets including his phone. The jumping by everyone caused his phone to disappear under the sand, and made it impossible to locate. He showed me the area he believed the loss occurred and I began my search. The sand was infested with multiple types of trash metal which slowed down my search considerably, but I kept my grid tight, and made sure to dig every good signal. I searched all of the area he showed me, but with no phone, but remembered him saying he had been standing in another area also, so I began a search over in the new search zone, and after about 4 passes got an overpowering signal in the headphones, dug, and had Kyle’s phone. He was certainly excited to have it back and I was happy to have been able to help.

Kirby sent me a text regarding the loss of her gold heirloom signet ring she believed she lost in her backyard. The ring had belonged to her Grandfather, so it had significant sentimental value for her. We arranged a time when we would both be available for me to come and do the search, and on that day I was on my way.

When I arrived Kirby met me, showed me the backyard, and where she thought she had lost her ring. When I saw her grass I could see how a ring could get lost in it. It was incredibly plush. Each blade of the grass had to be 5 inches in length straight up from the ground like a mini jungle over the whole back yard. I went over the area she pointed out to me only finding a dime that had been there for a while. I then expanded my search out until I completely searched the whole yard, only finding a nickel, and an old cookie cutter. Not willing to be beaten I did a cross grid of the yard, but did not find the ring. We talked a bit more about the day, and what might have happened, and the only thing left was her trash, which she had already gone through, but wisely did not throw out. I went through each item in the bags with my pin pointer until I came upon a crumpled napkin that was surprisingly sounding off. I picked it up, and shook it a bit, and the ring came tumbling out. Even though Kirby had thoroughly searched the trash the ring had evaded her pursuit. She could not believe it when I held up the ring for her, and showed her where it had been. What a wonderful search!
