I was halfway through my daily bike ride when my phone rang from a number I didn’t recognize.  I stopped pedaling and pulled over to answer my phone and heard a ladies voice asking me, “Do you still find rings for people?”.  I answered yes all the time and she went onto to explain that her daughter had lost her engagement ring in High River, Alberta.  We agreed that I would meet her daughter the next day to conduct a search.  Her daughter Fontanna came on the phone and explained that she had only been engaged for 2 weeks and went out to do some spring cleanup gardening and that she had lost it either in the front or back yard.

I arrived the next day and she came out to greet me send showed me the areas thought it might be.   I started grid searching the front yard then the boulevard next the back yard and nothing but junk iron signals.  I asked if they had retained the garbage bags from the cleanup, as that’s a common hiding place for lost rings. She explained that they had emptied the bags onto the garage floor and searched through them, I asked if I could try with my detector.  On the way in the garage I noticed a bag of garbage leaning against the outside wall and asked about it, Fontanna explained, that it was just kitchen scraps and dog waste, it wouldn’t be in there. So I set up my detector to low sensitivity and iron discrimination then tested for rebar placement and tone. Next, I searched the spread out leaf litter and dry grass. I easily located tin foil bottle caps etc. but no ring.   Then I searched the backyard and front yard yet again knowing it had to be somewhere on the property.  Still no luck,

Fontanna’s fiancé came out of the house and asked her if we checked the garbage bag out back she again said she had no reason to believe it was in it.   Since I had nowhere else to search I asked if we could check it anyway.  They agreed and we dumped out the garbage bag and just as Fontanna had said, it was just kitchen scraps and dog waste, a pretty nasty pile of stuff.  I scanned it with me detector and we pulled out metal items foil, a pop can, just the stuff you would expect to be in the garbage bad. I noticed a pair of work gloves and scanned them. I got a strong signal and separated them to discover it was only the left-hand glove that had a signal.  With my pin-pointer probe, I narrowed the signal to the little finger of the glove.  Fontanna’s very patient fiancé took the glove and cut off the end of the finger to reveal the treasured Lost Engagement Ring.  It was smiles all around, another happy customer of the ring Finders.   Thanks for the generous reward Fontanna.

Happy to have Ring recovered

February this year has been especially brutal with cold weather, lots of snow and the drifting of said snow.  This weather makes it a busy time for us Ring Finders in the northern climates.

It never fails to amaze me how oblivious to cold we are in Canada, we brush the snow off our cars with bare hands, scrape windows with bare hands and even throw snowballs with bare hands.  Many times every winter I get calls from folks that have lost rings due to such activity.

Today was no exception, I received a text message from Amanda, her husband had been shoveling the sidewalk in front of his house when he shook his hand to stave off the cold and away went his Gold Wedding Band.  She requested I come out and do a search for them, as they had spent a large amount of time searching to no avail.

When I arrived Amanda greeted me and showed me where her husband had been and approximately where he shook his hand.  From experience, I deduced that the ring would not be in the snow drift, but somewhere on the road which had about 3-4 cm of packed snow on it.

Seven minutes later Amanda and her husband’s ring were reunited.  The ring was in the middle of the road and had been pushed into the packed snow by traffic without damaging the ring.   Amanda was thrilled to have the ring back as you can see by the attached photo.    Thank you, Amanda, for the generous reward.

Remember, wear gloves in the winter and should you lose your precious treasure contact TheRingFinders.com as soon as possible.

I received an e-mail from Arash this morning asking for my help in finding his lost ring.

Arash explained that he was shoveling snow off his driveway on Saturday, and had not realized that his  ring was missing until that evening.  Arash spent all day Sunday looking for the ring with no luck.

I met Arash and he showed me where he had shoveled the snow. Within  3 minutes of turning my machine on, I found his ring buried in four inches of snow on the side of his driveway.

Another Happy Client.

I received a call from Nada this afternoon requesting my service to find her two rings which were lost while she was doing yard work on Monday,  however it was not until Tuesday that she realized  that her rings where not on her finger. I told her I would be there within one hour.

I met up with Nada at her home where she showed me the area she was working in the back yard.  She had been  pulling plants out of her flower pots and raised garden and was cleaning the back yard for the winter.

After asking Nada a lot of questions I started checking the flower pots and then couple of bags full of leaves with no luck.  I headed to her raised garden plot in the corner of her yard where I found the larger ring. The smaller ring proved much more difficult to find. I searched around the yard for another hour.  Nada was realizing that the ring was probably lost elsewhere but I told her not to give up yet.  She went in the house to warm up.

I continued searching and headed to another raised bed. There I heard a faint sound in my headphones.  The ring was covered in leaves! I called Nada over and told her it was her lucky day as both rings had been found.  She was very happy to have them back on her finger.

Thank you Nada in entrusting me to find your rings.

Lisa called me this morning, she was in need of the services of The Ring Finders.  She explained that she had been at a function where she boards her horse and when leaving believes her ring fell off her cold hand in the parking area.  I agreed to meet her at the location. Upon arriving she helped me place my parking cones to designate the area she believed it was lost in.  I then increased the area by 10 feet on each side.  After I carefully gridded  the area and picked up lots of nails and shards of aluminum, I was sure Lisa’s ring was not there.  I asked Lisa, “Where else could your ring have come off?”  The only other place she could think it may be was at her home from when she got home that night.  I suggested that since we were already out why not go and check her place.  After a short 10 minute drive we arrived in the town of Chestermere.  She showed me the route she had taken from her car to her front door and I went to work scanning the area. Sure enough after 10 minutes I recovered her beautiful White Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring.   She was over the moon with joy at getting her ring back and said she was going to get it resized right away.

It feels so good to make people this happy, call a Ring Finder near you and Get Happy!

Lisa glad to have engagement ring back.

Tyler had been celebrating Christmas in his backyard Hot Tub when they decided it would be a good idea to jump out of the Hot Water and jump into the Cold Snow to make Snow Angels  BRRRRR!   Unfortunately the extreme cold of the snow made his wet finger shrink and in the process of flailing around to make a Snow Angel his Wedding Ring came off and was lost in the snow, which was 6-8 inches deep over the whole yard.   Tyler left a message and I returned his call, we arranged to meet at his home.  When Tyler showed me where they had been frolicking in the snow I decided to start my search.    Within two passes across the back yard with my Garrett AT-PRO Metal Detector I got the unmistakeable sound of White Gold. I swept  through the snow and there it was gleaming up at me.   Tyler was extremely happy and relieved to have his wedding and back on his finger as you can see form the photo below.

A desperate call from Leslie on Christmas Eve, her daughter had been shoveling their sidewalks and lost the only set of keys for their Car fortunately they also had a Truck. Due to the winter storm I was unable to travel the Highway that evening and we arranged for me to go out on Boxing Day.   The weather was good on Boxing Day and I drove 120 kilometers to her home in Penhold, Alberta without any problem.  When I arrived Leslie showed me the areas that were best to search, after kicking down and searching the 2 foot mounds of snow along the front of the yard I turned to the path leading up to the house and around to the side.  After 1 hour I still had not found the keys.   I then started work the center of the front yard and after a few passes found the keys in the middle of the yard a good 15 feet from the sidewalk, that girl sure has a good arm.   Leslie was thrilled to get the keys back as they were the only set and it would have cost  $500.00 to get new ones.   I love the smiles I get when I recover lost valuables for people just look at Leslie beaming below.

Happy to have keys back
