I got a call last evening from Sachin explaining that while trying to safeguard and protect his wedding ring he had lost it in the dry sand at East beach in Santa Barbara. Sachin was going to go for a jog and decided to put his ring safely away in his wallet and then he accidentally sent it flying into the dry sand. Instead of calling his bride (only married for a month!) he did the right thing and called expert metal detectorist Dave Mac Donald first in order to get his ring back.

I got out there right away and met Sachin at the beach next to the bike path. He walked me out to the area he thought he was and even though it was nearly dark I was able to swing my way over his platinum wedding ring with my Minelab Manticore and in a minute or two I had his ring in my CKG scoop!

If you ever find yourself in a predicament like Sachin do the smart thing and call or text Dave Mac Donald at 805-290-5009. Dave has been recovering people’s lost valuables for years and his knowledge of the beach and all things metal detecting is a sure way to get your stuff back.

I got a call late Monday night from Dyana wanting to know if I could get out to East Beach in Santa Barbara to recover her husband Richard’s wedding band. Evidently he had lost it while trying to protect it as often happens. He had placed it in the cupholder of his chair when he went for a swim and forgot it was in there when he packed up the chair to go back to the Hilton across the street. The ring flew out of the cupholder and was lost in the dry sand.

East Beach gets detected quite frequently so I knew I needed to get out there ASAP and I agreed to meet them a little after 6am the next day. Upon arrival we met at the beach and Dyana gave me the area she thought they had been in and I began a grid search of the area. The beach had been groomed already and I was a bit concerned that the sand sweeper or someone else had gotten it as the sand was quiet. All of sudden I got a nice tone on my Minelab Manticore and a quick scoop of my CKG sand scoop and I had the ring in my possession.

Needless to say Dyana was relieved! They had been married for one year exactly and Richard had lost his ring on their one year anniversary!

If you lose your ring in the sand don’t wast time renting or buying a metal detector. Call or text metal detecting expert Dave Mac Donald at 805-290-5009 so just like Dyana, you too can get your ring back!

On late Sunday afternoon I got a frantic call from Julia who wanted to know if I could help recover wedding ring set that she had accidentally lost in the sand at East Beach in Santa Barbara. I assured her we could find them and I made my way to Santa Barbara. East Beach is a popular destination for folks looking to enjoy warm breezes and calm waters and Julia and her husband Robert were there to spend the day enjoying all that Santa Barbara beaches have to offer. Unfortunately in an attempt to protect her rings Julia had taken them off and placed them in her shorts pocket while she went for a swim. When she was finished swimming she had put her shorts on again and then went to get her rings out of the pocket and they were gone!

She showed me the location where they were at and I began to grid the area and in a minute or two I got the first great tone on my Minelab Manticore and I pushed my CKG scoop into the sand and out came Julia’s beautiful engagement ring. Another swing or two later of the Manticore and her wedding ring was in my CKG scoop safe and secure.

Vacationing in Santa Barbara is a dream for most folks and it was for Kate and Dominick of England until a toss of the football in the water caused his platinum wedding ring to fling into the ocean. Two hours of frantic searching, and borrowing a metal detector led them to frustration and the belief that his wedding ring of 19 years was gone forever.  It was until a local facebook group recommended metal detecting expert Dave Mac Donald of the Ringfinders to find Dom’s ring.

Kate contacted Dave Tuesday morning and explained the time it was lost (on Sunday) and the general vicinity of where Dom had made the fateful throw. Dave explained that he needed to get out there at low tide which wasn’t going to low enough until Wednesday morning at 4:30am. He assured Kate that if it was out there he would find it. The family was leaving Santa Barbara that Tuesday so all Kate could do was drop a pin on the map and leave it up to the metal detecting master to recover the ring.

Dave got out there at 4:30am and using the pin location began to grid up and down to the waters edge taking advantage of the 0.7 low tide. After digging a bunch trash for a half hour, Dave got a clean signal on his Minelab Manticore right at the water’s edge and scooped the target out. It was pitch black out so he turned on his headlamp and began to shake the wet sand out and heard that familiar clanking noise. He reached in and there was a heavy platinum wedding ring. Dave sent pictures off to Kate for confirmation that it was Dom’s ring as he had to leave to go recover a lost silver necklace at Carpinteria State Beach.  The chances of a second lost platinum ring in the same location left Dave pretty confident he had recovered the right ring.

An hour later Kate texted and asked if her name was inscribed on the inside of the ring and a quick glance (the sun was up now) proved it was and the right ring was soon to be going back to the right owner and back to England where it belonged.

Remember time is not on your side when your ring goes missing! Call or text Dave the Ringfinder 805-290-5009 so he can help you get your ring back.

Lost Wedding Ring Loon Point Beach Carpinteria Found by Expert Metal Detector

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)

I got a text early Friday morning sharing with me how a wedding ring had gotten lost in the sand at Loon Point Beach north of Carpinteria CA. It’s a familiar story, in an effort to take care of their rings prior to swimming, they are taken off and then stored in a pocket or the edge of a towel. For Michael, he had done just that, he had placed his wedding ring in the cup holder of his beach chair so he wouldn’t lose it in the ocean when he went swimming.

As the day went on he had completely forgotten about his ring and he and his wife packed things up and went back home oblivious to the fact that his ring had somehow bounced out of the cup holder somewhere on the beach or path leading back to the parking lot. This is where Ventura County Ringfinders stepped in.

I got to the beach and after talking with the couple I went to the area they were sitting at yesterday and begin to grid. I immediately found a quarter and a dime which was good news as I am always worried another detectorist might find it before I do and given that I found the coins I knew no one had been through here.

On my 3rd pass of the area I got a solid mid tone and I was pretty sure I had the ring in the scoop and a couple of shakes of the scoop proved me correct.

Michael was getting his ring back.

Gold Bracelet recovered in Summerland CA.

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)

I got a call the week before Christmas to see if I could locate a very expensive gold bracelet that had been lost during a boutique gathering at a popular shop in Summerland. The bracelet was lost during the evening and wasn’t inventoried until the next day. Unfortunately, the grounds it was lost on are covered in loose gravel that is raked every day before the business opening. To further compound the problem, the greater Santa Barbara area had experienced 3 days of pounding rain which had caused flooding throughout the area and had turned the gravel area into a muddy gravel area.

Since this was a business with hundreds of items for sale I would rely more on my pinpointer and I began the process of moving on my hands and knees slowly dragging the pinpointer in the muddy gravel. With no discrimination, I was finding every bit of metal in the ground and gravel but I finally got a strong signal and dug down into the gravel and out of the mud came this beautiful gold bracelet with diamonds. Mission accomplished!

I was able to make the return to the store owner who then contacted the vendor to tell her of the good news that the gold bracelet was found and would be returned. If you happen to loose a ring, bracelet or other piece of jewelry do what they did and contact me, Dave MacDonald at 805-290-5009 so we can get your keepsake back where it belongs.

In the heart of Santa Barbara, Gerrie, a devoted professional dog trainer, found herself in a state of distress over the loss of a cherished family heirloom. This wasn’t just any ring; it held the weight of a lifetime of memories, serving as a poignant link to her late father’s journey through life.

For over a decade, Gerrie had been her father’s steadfast caregiver as he battled Alzheimer’s. Following his recent passing at the remarkable age of 99, she inherited his prized possession: a 1942 fraternity ring from Penn State University, a symbol of his presidency, his marriage, and his service during WWII in the South Pacific. Clinging to the ring, Gerrie found solace in carrying her father’s memory with her wherever she went, a tangible connection to their profound bond.
