I got a call from Amy who had lost 3 rings in the sand at the beach. This was an important loss, and We made arrangements to get me there as soon as I could make it in order to perform a search for her.

By the time I arrived, Amy had had to leave, but she had called her husband Anthony to be there. I walked out to meet him, and he explained that he had searched and found 2 of the rings, but was unable to find the 3rd. I set up to search, and within seconds, I had the 3rd ring in my scoop. It was only a few feet from where Anthony had been searching, and Amy now had all of her rings back. it was a very fruitful day for a search.

I received a call from Nancy who asked if could help her in finding a lost ring. I asked a few questions about the loss wherein she explained that it was lost 6 weeks prior, and possibly in a public place. I began to feel that the search might be futile because of the elapsed time involved, and then she told me the circumstances. She had just buried her husband of 47 years, and was wearing his ring, when sometime in the next few days the ring came up missing. She had checked the house, so the next possibilities would be the school yard where she was watching a soccer game, or in the front yard garden bordering the street that was lined with gravel. I felt that Nancy needed closure, and that searching those areas for her would provide that. We arranged a day to do the search, and I was on my way.

When I arrived at Nancy’s house, I saw the gravel bed. It was right next to the street where everyone walked, and any ring would have laid on top of the gravel, and would have been easily seen. I went over the whole area with the detector just in case we missed something with no results. Before we could search the soccer field we had to wait for school to get out which would take another 1 1/2 hours. I told Nancy that would not be a problem. She then said that her son had said that she should check the Christmas decoration boxes because she had also put them away right after the funeral. So she opened her shed, got up on a ladder, and handed down all the boxes that were put away that day. After she had gotten them all out, I proceeded to remove the contents of each box, and search everything and the box. Then I would hand each box back to her for replacement back in the shed. I got to the last box with 3 wreaths in it, and removed each one inspecting it carefully, and then when I removed the last wreath, there in the bottom of the box was the ring. I reached in and held it up for her. She jumped off of the ladder, and ran right over so excited that this precious item had been found. I felt so much joy for her, as I could see what a toll the last 6 weeks had taken on her. Sometimes those rings are not where you expect them to be.

Alyssa called hoping I would be able to help her find her lost ring. She had been at the beach the day before tossing a ball when it came off of her hand. She was out of town, so there was no way she could meet me there to show me where the loss occurred, but I queried her with a multitude of questions to get all the information for the search that I could. I waited until later in the day to go because it was a hot day, and someone may have set up their beach camp on top of the ring.

When I got there, about 8:00 PM, there was no one around. Alyssa had also texted me some pictures taken when they were there at the beach which helped to locate my search area. Surprisingly her directions were very good, and the County beach cleaners had not cleaned the beach that morning, so I found her ring within about 5 minutes. I sent her a text to let her know that I found it to her surprise. We arranged to meet for the return when she got back in town, and I was able to hand her back something she got to thinking was lost forever. What a happy day!

I was contacted by Deborah about the loss of her husband’s wedding ring. He was with her in the back yard the day before and was explaining how loose it was on his finger, and to show her, he walked out on the grass and flicked his hand in a downward motion. In a second the ring came off just as he expected but disappeared in the grass. They searched for hours to find it but were unable to locate it. We arranged a time to do the search, and I headed over.

When I got there Deborah took me back to the loss sight and explained to me exactly how it happened. I set up my detector, turned it on, swung about 3 times, and received a very strong signal, I put in my pin pointer, and found the ring not far from where he had been standing. They were very happy to have it back, and I was happy to have helped.

Meredith contacted me regarding an engagement ring she lost the night before at the Griffith Park Haunted Hayride. She had been there with her fiancé when after the ride was over she stood up to get off, and her loose fitting engagement ring slid off of her finger, and was lost somewhere in the hay. She and her fiancé, along with some of the staff stayed until 3 AM searching for her ring with no luck. We arranged a time to meet there, and I was on my way.

When I arrived Meredith and her fiancé Mehrdod had emptied the hay from the area of the loss from the trailer onto a tarp, and spread it out, so I began my search there. I went over the hay very carefully, but there was no ring there. I then went into the trailer to search the remaining hay but was unable to find it there. There were gaps in the floor of the trailer that a ring could easily fall through, so I got under the trailer and searched; nothing. I then repeated the whole search again to make sure nothing was missed, and again no ring. I asked if this was the area where she disembarked, and she said no it was another area. We went to the place where she stood to get off of the ride, and I began to search there. She and her fiancé were doing something in another part of this spot when I got a great signal, put the pin pointer in, and found her ring. I walked over with her ring hidden in my hand, and asked an inquiring question, to which she walked over to Mehrdod to discuss it with him. It was at that time I held up my hand with her ring, and asked, “Are we looking for this?” Meredith got very emotional at that point with joy, and later said that that was the best “jump scare” she had ever had. She then told me that they were getting married in 12 days; WOW! What a pleasure it is to see that kind of joy restored in a person’s life! What a great day!

I received a call from Saba about her lost wedding ring. She had been at a surf camp earlier in the day, and put her rings into a bag so they would not get lost. When they were ready to leave the bag was lifted, and the rings fell into the sand and disappeared. She and her friends looked and were able to find her engagement ring, but not the wedding band. I let her know that I could come immediately, but she said she might buy a detector also in order to search herself. I did try to discourage that action, because most of the time it just discourages the people I want to help when they try to use equipment they are not used to.

When I got to the beach Saba and her friends met me and showed me where the group had been, and where they had found the other ring. I geared up to do the search, and out came the detector she had purchased. They did try, but to no avail. I searched for about 15 minutes in a tight grid with them working right in front of me the whole way. Right behind them I received a great signal in an area that was searched by their detector just minutes before. I dug, and in my scoop was Saba’s ring. Needless to say she was very happy to have it back!

I got a contact from Angel. He was at the beach where he lost a ring of great significance to him. He lost the ring in the sand, but was unsure where exactly, as he and his fiancé had gone to the car before they realized it was gone. They got back to the area, but were not sure the exact spot. I told them that was alright as long as they could get me close it would be a great help. I let them know I was on my way.

I got to the beach, and found them. They showed me the suspected area, so I turned my detector on, and began my grid. I found a few pieces of trash metal, which tends to excite the people I am trying to help, until they see what I found. Then I got a good solid signal in the head phones, a nice strong double beep. I dug, and in my scoop was a very nice looking gold ring. Angel told me that it was his mother’s ring, so the loss was hard to take. So happy to have been a help for him!

Alexis contacted me in the evening about the loss of her engagement ring in the sand of the beach. She was pushing her child on the swing, when the movement of her hand caused her ring to fly off of her hand, and was immediately lost in the sand. She and her husband searched to no avail for the token of his love for her. Knowing the area to be metal detected frequently, I told them that I would get there as soon as possible to do the search.

When I got there it was dark, but I could see Alexis and her family still searching with flashlights for the lost ring. The area was close to the playground equipment so I turned the sensitivity down on my detector so as to not be too influenced by the playground equipment, and began my grid. I worked one side of the swing set with no ring. I then worked under the swings, still no ring. I began working the other side of the set, and got a nice signal, dug, and had her ring in my scoop. She and her husband were so happy to see it again, and were able to leave for a late dinner, and getting the children to bed. Those smiles are precious!

Charisse contacted me with a bit of desperation in her voice. She had just lost her diamond wedding ring in the sand, and to her surprise was completely unable to find it. She was going to be leaving the beach soon, and really needed some help. I was on my way!

When I got to the beach Charisse met me, and brought me over to where she believed the loss occurred. She showed me what happened, and where she believed the ring should be. Sometimes though, the ring ends up where you would least expect it to be, but not this time. A couple of swings with my detector, one scoop of sand, and back on Charisse’s finger was her beautiful wedding ring. A wonderful afternoon!

Three Gold Pendants Lost in the Sand of Marina Del Rey Beach…Found and Joyfully Returned.

I received a call from Guy right after dinner. I had been relaxing with my wife watching a little television when he called. He told me about his loss of some pendants that had great sentimental value to him, he had on a chain around his neck. His dog was playing when she jumped on him, and accidentally broke the chain, and everything went flying into the sand. He was able to find his chain, but not the pendants. He told me he marked the spot which was a good thing. I let him know that I would come immediately to do the search which surprised him, but I know from years of experience, that the sooner the search is made the better the chance of a recovery, as there are too many variables that come into play as time goes on to diminish the possibility of finding the lost item.

When I got to the beach Guy was waiting for me, and we walked out in the darkness to do the search. The main concern was finding the item Guy used to mark the area of the loss. We both had out lights on searching. I was a little worried because the super high tide might have washed his marker away. Finally close to 10:00 PM Guy found it. It was a 2×4 that he had forced into the sand, and although the water came up it did not move. I began my search on one side of the marker where Guy thought the items fell with no signals. I then began on the other side, and received a signal which I dug, and poured out the sand. I checked again, picking up a load of sand. After I shook it out, in my scoop was a gold ring which Guy identified as his mother’s. I ran my coil over the area again getting another signal, scooped and had his gold cross. One more time and I was able to give him his daughter’s name in gold. A successful search with a very happy, and relieved Guy!

Guy sent the following testimonial:

Hi,

My name is Guyen (Guy) and I was taking my daughters pet Luna for a walk on the Marina del Rey beach on Monday the 21st 2021. Luna loves to play with rocks on the beach by digging holes and burying the rocks. That day was like any other day but suddenly Luna wanted to get my attention and lunged towards me. That broke the necklace. I had a cross, my mothers wedding band that was gifted to me and my daughters name in 22ct gold in Sinhalese. I found the necklace but the other three items just vanished. This was at 5.50pm. Luna and I was looking for the lost items until 7.30pm and decided to call it a night. Before leaving, we marked the spot to come back the next day to look for the three lost items.

I came home and searched online for metal detector rentals to rent one for the next day and I was unable to find one. Then I randomly stumbled upon the website of Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders”. I immediately called the number and Mr. Smith answered the phone. I explained my situation and he said that he would like to come out that night itself as the beach cleanup tractor can shift the items or the tide can wash the missing items Mr. Smith said that he will meet me in 30-45 minutes.

I explained this to my daughter who was skeptical and was concerned for my safety as I was going to meet this person that I connected online to look for the three missing pieces of jewelry. She even took my phone and shared my location with her incase this person who volunteered to help me was to harm me.

Mr. Smith met me at the Marina del Rey beach and we walked towards the location where the jewelry vanished. It was about 9.50pm. I directed Mr. Smith to the location and within a few minutes he found the Cross, my mothers wedding band and my daughters name in 22ct gold pendent. It was unbelievable to say the least. I asked Mr. Smith how much it would be for his services and he said that he would only take a donation. He did ask if it was okay for him to take a picture of me holding the three items that was found. Naturally I agreed as it was the least that I could do.

My faith in humanity was renewed that day. Good people who genuinely want to help people do exist. For anyone who goes to the beach, I highly recommend that you store the number of Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders” in your phone. You never know when you might need his help. It’s as good as having AAA on the beach.

Thank you Mr. Steve Smith “The Ring Finders” from the bottom of my heart.
Guy from Marina del Rey
