Alex called late in the evening to let me know he had lost his white gold wedding ring, along with his car key in the water while getting out of the water after surfing. It looked like the tide would be right for a search that night so I asked him to let me know where to search, and let him know I would go then.

Alex had given me enough information to cover the area of the loss, and because he was only ankle deep when the items were lost, I had plenty of open sand to search. There were no targets at all, just silence in the head phones. I kept looking for about an hour, and then a strong signal. I dug, and there was the key, so I knew the ring should be close. I continued on, and then another strong signal, dug, and had the ring. I sent Alex a text showing the two items to let him know they were found. He agreed to meet me at the beach right away, and I delivered his wedding ring and key. He was very thankful.

Custom Silver Ring Lost in the Sand at Long Beach, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Blake contacted me about a couple of rings lost the day before at the beach, but there was only one that they were concerned about. It was a silver ring that he had personally made for his girlfriend on a trip to Bali. He had personalized it with engravings as well. They had been out the day before at the dog beach throwing dog toys for the pooches, and when they were ready to leave his girlfriend Nadia realized her rings were gone. I let them know that the difference of a day could decrease the chance of a recovery, but we decided it was worth a try, so I let them know I would leave soon to meet them for the search.

When I arrived at the beach they met me, and took me out to the area they had been, and showed me the path they had taken. It was about a football field long but fortunately a walking path wide. We walked the path finding a few dimes, pennies, bottle caps, and pull tabs. I made sure to dig everything to ensure I did not miss anything, but no rings. We got to end, and they decided we had been very thorough with no luck. We were going to walk back to where they had washed off their feet when after turning towards the parking lot I took two steps, and got a signal in my head phones of a high tone, dug, and there was a nice hammered silver band. Blake and Nadia had their backs to me when I pulled the ring out of the scoop, so I held it up and waited for them to turn around. Blake turned first and looked questioningly, and began to walk forward to see what I was trying to show him. When he finally realized what it was he came and gave me a big hug followed by one from Nadia, it was the ring they were concerned about, the one Blake had made for Nadia. I searched around for the other ring with no success. It was great to be able to be able to find such a meaningful token of their love.

I received a call from Daniel who had lost his iPhone and AirPods at the beach. He and his friends had searched for them for a while before they called. I was available, so I told him I would come immediately.

I got to the beach and found Daniel with his friends. He took me over to the area they believed to loss to have occurred, and I readied for my search. they put me right on top of the phone because it took about 45 seconds to find the phone, and then the AirPods. They couldn’t believe how fast the return was made. I was happy to have helped them, although Daniel was a bit camera shy.

Dina contacted me about a phone she had lost the night before at the beach. I asked a lot of questions like where on the sand was it lost knowing this beach is machine groomed by the county daily. When she said it was in the towel line I did not hold much hope for a recovery. She did tell me that it was still showing on the “Find My IPhone” app, and even sent the latest screen shot from the app. She told me she was not able to meet me there because of her job, but told me where to look, and the screen shot gave me a general area as well. I let her know that I would give it a try, and went there to look.

When I got there the area of the search was packed with people, but I began my search anyway weaving in and out trying very hard to not disturb anybody. People would move in and out which helped in covering most of the area. I found a few items, but not the phone. Then I moved up a little more, and got an overpowering signal, put the scoop in, and to my amazement out pops the phone. It had only been covered by about an inch of sand, and had to have been walked on by myriads of people from the time it was lost until I found it. I was surprised that it had not been found seeing it was so shallow, and could have been felt underfoot. Well I was able to get it back to her that night when she got off work, and she was happy for sure.

Nadia contacted me regarding her husband’s lost wedding ring. He had been out in their back yard gardening when after he was done realized his ring was gone. They scoured every likely place it could have been including their house, but it was nowhere to be found. We arranged to do a search.

I got to their house, and Nadia met me to show me where to search. She showed me the yard and pointed out the areas her husband had worked. I began at one end and began working my way across the yard. I was hearing a lot of iron which is normal for houses because of the construction process. I then heard a good signal in one dirt patch, and with the pin pointer was able to dislodge a real nice hammered gold wedding ring which I was later able to hand to Nadia’s husband David. They then told me they had only been married for just a few months. Another happy day for sure!

I had just gotten out of bed in the morning when Molly called. She was very concerned about a ring she had lost the night before, and was asking for help. I asked about the beach, and when she told me, I knew it was one that is cleaned meticulously with machines by the county, so I inquired more about the area, and when she told me that she believed it was lost on the slope down to the water it sounded like a good possibility of a recovery. We agreed to meet there when I was able to wake up and get ready.

We arrived very close to the same time, and found each other. When we looked out over the sand it looked like someone had dragged a 2×4 over the sand, it was smoothed out by the machines, all of it. She showed me where she believed the loss occurred, and it was on the slope untouched by the machines. I began my search in a nice tight grid not finding very much except pieces of aluminum cans. I continued on making sure to cover every inch of ground in order to not miss anything. When after about 6 passes, at the top of the slope, not more than 8 inches from where the machines had gone through I received a real nice signal, dug and there it was, the ring Molly had described. If it had been 8 inches further up it likely would have been gone; luck of the Irish maybe. I held it up, and she ran over very emotional at the sight of it again. She told me that when she was 13 her Irish father gave her that ring, and she has worn it everyday since, so losing it left her emotionally drained. But look at that smile, that’s why we do what we do as Ring Finders; AWESOME RIGHT?!

Melissa contacted me the other day about searching for her lost rings. She told me they were lost the previous day, and also the beach where they were lost at. When she mentioned the beach, and the location they had been sitting my heart sunk because this is one of the cleanest beaches in Southern California. The County uses very effective sifting machines on this beach, and is able to get almost all metal off the beach daily. She was not able to meet me there, but sent a photo of where she had been which helped a lot to show me where to search, so I left to try.

When I got there I could see that the machines had gone through that morning, and it didn’t look promising. I set up my grid area, and began. As expected, I was getting no signals, but I persisted in my search. There was a small patch about 2 feet wide between where the machine cleaned, and the wet sand that was untouched, so I made sure to be a bit more careful there. Then on one pass I got my first signal in the untouched area. I dug, and had Melissa’s wedding band; I was excited. I couple more swings, and I had the engagement ring. I couldn’t believe it, they were still there, the machine had missed them by 12 inches. Now to get them back to her. I sent her a text with a picture of the rings which made her very happy. She told me where she lived which happened to be on my way home, so I asked if I could drop them off, to which she excitedly said yes. I met her husband Patrick, her husband of just 2 months. This really made my day!

Melissa sent the following testimonial:

Hello!
He found my Wedding Ring AND band on the Beach! Steve was absolutely amazing!! My husband came across his page on “The Knot” and I am so happy I did! I went to the beach late at night and in the morning my ring off my hand was gone. I was devastated especially because we just got married a month ago.. I texted Steve and he got back to me within minutes. I described where I was on the beach and within 30 minutes he took a selfie on the beach of where I was and he got to work. He kept me updated and I am so happy he did. Then he found my rings! It was an absolute miracle and I am forever debted to this man. The amazing part is he even came to my home and dropped it off in Torrance which he did not need to do. He is an Angel and I am so happy I got to thank him in person. I hope this does not happen to you but if it does, Steve is the man to call!
Thank you again! You are the best!!

I received a call from Susannah who asked me if I could help find a lost ring in the sand. I was available. I let her know how long it would take to get to where they were, and that I was on my way.

When I got to the beach I was met by Michael who was the person who lost the ring. He told me how he had been playing volley ball, and when going for the ball noticed his ring was gone. He and his friends searched for it to no avail. I got my equipment ready, and began my search. Michael was showing me where to look first, which I did because it is always best to listen to the person who lost their valuable. After I hit all the places that he had shown me, I began to drift outside of the box he had shown, which at the time seemed a bit disconcerting to him, so I tried to reassure him that his ring was not where he thought it was, and to trust me on this one. Then about 10 feet away from his original spot I got the signal, dug and had his ring, to Michael’s great surprise. He was very happy to have it back, and glad for my perseverance. His friend, the shorter one of the two in the photo ran over and gave the strongest bear hug ever while jumping up and down. Needless to say, there was some celebration going on. Love those smiles.

I was contacted by Mike who told me his wife had lost her ring at a friend’s house while shaking water off of her hands. She had received the ring just two days before for her birthday, so the loss was heartbreaking. We arranged a time to do the search when they had access to the house again.

I got to the house early, and it turned out to be a really special looking home, somewhat castle-like, so I waited for Mike to come. When Mike showed up his wife Nancy was with him, and they took me to the back yard where they showed me the area of the loss. It was a very steep hillside covered with ground cover and bushes. I asked how the loss occurred, and Nancy showed me that she had shaken her hands over the wall that separated the walkway from the hillside, and made a flicking movement away from her body. As I began my search Mike explained that the house was designed and owned by Walt Disney back in the 1930’s.

I started searching near the top, but began to concentrate on the middle and lower part of the hillside because of the motion she had made when she showed me at first. I went up and down (sliding a lot as well) going over the hillside with a larger coil to penetrate the ground cover. I also used my pin pointer in and around the bushes to insure that I did not miss anything. After about an hour of searching Mike and Nancy told me they had to leave because of a previously scheduled appointment, but introduced me to the house’s owner who said that I could remain and continue my search. Before they left I asked if Nancy could show me again how she shook off her hands, but this time wetting them first so I could see exactly how it happened. To my surprise the shaking when wet was more of a straight down action, so I decided to concentrate on the upper part of the hillside. She had tried to explain what the ring looked like so I was looking for what I thought was a medium sized woman’s ring. I continued my search going over the upper part of the hill with a “fine toothed comb”. The dirt was somewhat soft also, but I was expecting a surface recovery, or one that wasn’t too deep. I got to this one bush about 30 minutes later, and using my pin pointer I began poking around and into the dirt. Then right next to the stalk of the bush I got a slight signal, so I began to dig, and right next to the stalk down about 1 1/2 inches in the dirt was the ring. Here I was at Walt Disney’s house, and with all the magic what did I see; a very large heavy princess’s gold and emerald ring. The ring had a faceted crystal bubble filled with small jeweled emeralds, something a princess would wear. Because of the weight of the ring it penetrated the dirt and completely disappeared almost 2 inches into the dirt. We later arranged for me to deliver the ring to Nancy at their home, and was able to give the princess back her ring. What a special day for sure.

I received a desperate call from Vanessa who needed to find a ring that was lost in the sand at the beach. I was able to let her know that I was immediately available, so we arranged for me to come at once to do the search.

I got to the beach where I found Vanessa, her husband Angel, and friends. It was her husband’s ring that was lost, and he proceeded to show me all the possibilities of where it could have dropped. I began a grid to insure I covered every inch of sand. I began at the most likely area, and then began to move into the other areas he had been. I made about 5 lines when I got a real good signal, but only a pull tab, and then a bottle cap. A couple of more grid lines, and another good signal; scoop in, gold ring out. Angel saw the ring bouncing around in the scoop, and came over in a hurry. I pulled it out and handed it to him, and everyone cheered. It was then that I found out that Angel and Vanessa had only been married for 3 days, and I thought; “Oh my What a Relief!” Anyway, it was great to be able to help them on this occasion.
