I was on my way to search for Jason’s ring in Westlake when Bryan called to ask if I could help find his lost keys that he had lost at the beach the day before. We discussed the loss, and he told me that it happened on the newly constructed berm used to hold winter storm surf back. He had brought his daughter there to use her Boogie Board as a “snow” sled as many do at the beach in the winter. I let him know that as soon as I completed my ring search, I would head towards the beach, and call him to tell him I was on the way.

I contacted Bryan when I was coming out to the beach, and we arranged to meet a certain parking lot. When I got there I found him, and we started over to the berm. He showed me where he had been, and where he thought the keys might have been lost. I began my search covering the whole area he had showed me with no luck. I began to search on the end of the berm, because he believed he had been there doing some tricks, still no luck. Then I started looking on the other side of the berm, even though he said he did not spend much time there. I worked my way down, and Bryan asked me to extend the search out a little, as he remembered the area being a little larger than at first thought. I continued searching until I got to the bottom of the berm, and got a good solid signal, dug, and had a nice set of keys in my scoop. Bryan had his back to me when I found them, but his daughter had been watching from the top of the berm, and when I held the keys up she ran to her father to exclaim that they had been found. Needless to say there was happiness in the air!
