Minnesota lost wedding ring found metal detecting recovery

Wedding ring found at a Minnesota fall festival.
Keith, his family and friends were out for a pontoon ride on a local lake in Minnesota. They decide to stop at an island that boasted a sandy and shallow water swim/play area. He was in the water about waist deep playing football with the kids and playing with the pup. They finished up and boarded the pontoon when he noticed his wedding band was missing from his finger. They got back in the water and searched to no avail. Fast forward a day a two and Keith’s buddy Jeff was searching the internet on ways to find the ring, when he came across the “theringfinders” website. Jeff told Keith about the website, and he called me right away. We discussed the best way to go about the search and decided scuba diving, “though it was pretty shallow water” would be the best chance of recovery. We decided to do a grid search using a 20-foot rope that Keith and Jeff held across the water, and I scuba/searched under the rope. As I finished one spot, they would move 6 feet and we kept this up for an hour or so until I got that awesome tone of Gold on my metal detector. Congrats on getting your ring back!!! Glad I could help out; it was nice meeting both of you. Thanks for the help on the grid search, it worked out perfectly.

While driving around with her husband, Caitie decided to put some lotion on her hands. She removed her ring and applied the lotion, while trying to put the ring back on, it slipped and disappeared into the car. She searched everywhere and couldn’t find it. She started a google search for help finding her ring and came across “theringfinders” website. She contacted me and I told her this is a little different situation as we can’t use metal detectors in cars. I do however have special lights and mirrors I use to look into crevasses hidden to the eyes. We agreed on a date, time and location to meet, so I could give it a shot. I searched the passenger seat from the front and from the back and I wasn’t coming up with anything but coins. I went back to the front of the passengers seat and saw an old Covid mask bunched up and hidden under the carpet. As I removed the mask, I saw the beautiful glitter of gold – there it was!!!!
Glad I could help out Caitie, it was nice meeting you.
Take care ~

Lebo and Brian went to their family cabin on a lake up north Minnesota for some rest and relaxation. Just an extra bit of info – They are also proud parents to a newborn baby, congrats!! :O)
In August the weather can get quite hot, I believe it was high 90’s the week they went up. Lebo decided to cool off and go for a swim off their dock. Before jumping in, she took off her wedding ring and put it in her towel for safe keeping. After her swim she got back on the dock, picked up her towel and started to dry off, just realizing her ring fell between the slats of wood into the lake. Don’t feel too bad Lebo as this happens more than you can imagine. Brian searched the web and found “theringfinders.com” and called me. We set up a day & time and I met them as soon as I possibly could. We performed a test with a junk ring I brought up to see how far the ring would go while picking up the towel. It dropped just a couple feet and rolled into the water. I put on my scuba gear and hopped in – It only took a couple minutes, and I recovered both rings right next to each other.
It was really nice meeting both of you! Tell Lebo’s Dad I said it was nice to meet him also….Congrats on getting your wedding ring back, truly glad I could help out.

Gracie & Justin traveled back to Minnesota from the Oregon/Washington area to get married and celebrate with their family members. After the wedding, they all traveled up north to a lake to enjoy some time together. Justin was out swimming with his niece when he felt his wedding ring slip off his finger. He was in 10 feet deep of water and about 20 feet from the dock. They quickly marked the spot with an anchor and a float, which is exactly what you should do. They took some pictures and started searching for someone to help dive for the lost ring. They found the theringfinders.com web site and contacted me. I am over 3 hours from the lake, so we were trying to schedule the dive as soon as possible. While planning, they found another diver much closer who volunteered to give it a try. The diver was unable to recover the ring and only found a few cans. Gracie’s dad also found the lakes area dive club which operated out of that area. They sent a couple divers over and tried for a few hours, again no ring and just a few cans. So, Gracie reached back out to me, and we set up a time for one final search. I arrived at the lake, the sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day with temps in the low 80’s. Perfect dive weather. I studied the pictures they took previously and walked to the end of the dock. I threw an old ring I had into the lake at the spot they had marked with the anchor and float. (They had to remove the anchor and float when they left the resort) – I started my search and there were “signals” all over the place. I had to come up and empty my “trash bag” 3 times as it was completely full. After a couple hours of removing trash, I found my ring deep in the bottom silt. I swung my detector about a foot and got another nice hit. It was Justin’s Gold Ring!!! The ring was about a foot deep into the muck. After the dive I counted all the targets I had to remove, there were 117 total including: Beer cans, pop cans, paint cans, pop tops, fireworks parts, fishing lures, coins, fishing reels etc. I’m not putting anyone down, though I just want to point out how important it is to get an experienced ring finder when searching the internet for help. Metal detecting is a lot more in-depth than people think. It takes years of practice to know what the machine is telling you and how to properly recover targets. Congratulations to Gracie & Justin on getting their ring back, truly glad I could help!!!

Austin was up north Minnesota at an area lake enjoying the day with family. They were out on their pontoon enjoying a hot day swimming in a bay when Austin’s gold/diamond ring slipped off his finger and sank down into the weeds, approx. 10 feet deep. This ring was an heirloom from his dad who passed a few years earlier. He searched the internet and found wwwtheringfinders.com and called me. We knew it was no hurry as the ring would stay exactly where it was lost, and we were struggling to commit to a day as the weather and our schedules were not cooperating. After about a week, we finally set the day and met up at the lake. These searches are very tough going as the weeds are so thick and the muck can be very deep. The search area must be very small when scuba diving at depth in weeds as we cannot cover a lot of real-estate with these obstacles, also the harder you work the faster you use your air. I told Austin it was up to him to remember and put me as close to the spot as possible, even a 20-yard deviation would make the search impossible. We pulled up in the pontoon and anchored, I gave him a junk ring and said toss it in where you believe your ring is. I started my search and found a couple old beer cans and 3 old lures. After approximately an hour of search I got a nice tone hit on my metal detector, sifted through the muck and out popped his ring. I looked up before ascending and I was right below the pontoon. Great job by Austin getting us to the exact point in the middle of a bay!!!

Congrats Austin, glad I could help out :O)

While at a beach for a family day, Trevor was tossing a football around with his son in a local lake. Trevor had some right should issues and was throwing with his left hand. While tossing the football, he noticed his wedding ring flying off his finger and went right into the lake. He and his family searched and couldn’t find it. When they got home, Trevor searched on-line for any help he could get. He found some articles on “theringfinders.com” and went to the site. He found my profile in his area of Minnesota and gave me a call. He was only in waist deep water, so I didn’t need to load up the scuba equipment. I met Trevor and his son the next morning at the park and started the search. He gave me the exact area the ring came off, and it only took approx. 10 minutes to find his ring. Congrats on getting your valuable back Trevor, it was nice meeting you and your son.

Mariam recently came to the U.S. to study at the university level in Minnnesota. While enjoying a day at a local fall festival with friends, Mariam lost a ring that her Mother gave to her just before leaving for America. The white gold ring was designed as a Mother/Daughter ring to help Mariam feel close to home while away. She rented a metal detector and searched for 3 hours only finding a few coins. While searching the internet for help, Mariam came across theringfinders.com and called me right away. I met her out at the festival the next morning and she pointed out the area she believed the lost ring would be. It only took about 10 seconds, my first hit and I found the beautiful double heart diamond filled mother daughter ring. Congrats Mariam, so glad I could help.
