This ring find began when I got a text from Payton who was on vacation from Dallas, Texas and enjoying his day at Kailua Beach. The text was, “I lost my ring at Kailua Beach just now and found your number online. If you are able to find it I would be so grateful.” Payton was standing in knee deep water when his Tungsten, Gold & Diamond ring fell off his finger and disappeared in the soft sand. They looked for 30 minutes and it didn’t turn up. With parking at Kailua Beach unobtainable at this time we agreed I’d do a hunt at first light the next morning which was also a low tide. Payton sent me a video of the location so I had excellent reference points. When I arrived it was fairly calm and I decided to do a collapsing box search. I went out, across and then started back in when I got a screaming target. It didn’t really sound like a ring because of the dual metals and the depth. It took me at least 8 scoops to get the target in the basket and for sure it was Payton’s ring. It sure buried itself during the over night high tide. When I got back to my car I texted Payton a pic of his ring. We agreed to meet at Rainbow Drive-In food place for the return. Vacation saved and on to Japan! Aloha to Payton!
