Julia was spending the last day of vacation on St. Pete Beach FL with her father. Being from Michigan, spending time on the beach in January beats shoveling snow. Julia found SRARC online, contacted Joe while driving to the airport and the picture tells the rest of the story.

Lost Ring Recovered at the Tradewinds on St Pete Beach

Bill and Jenn were staying at the Tradewinds on St Pete Beach to attend the Buc’s Beach Bash this weekend. On Sunday evening they were out on the beach enjoying the events when Bill needed to cool down so he went into the shallow water and sat down in a couple of places. Later that evening he discovered his wedding ring was missing. The next morning he contacted SRARC and a hunt was scheduled. Tim Vorkink happened to be in the area when he received the callout and went right over and met Bill. Tim only had a land machine with him so he covered the area where they had been on the beach. He did not find it so we scheduled a water hunt for later that afternoon. Joe Szemer, Bill Gallant, and Mike Miller met Bill and he showed us the area he was cooling off. Joe took about six steps and up came the ring. We were all smiles and Bill was overjoyed. Another Great day for SRARC ring finders.

Lost Ring Recovered On Treasure Island

Reed and Katie, married just four days ago in Illinois, were on the beach at Treasure Island enjoying their honeymoon. Reed put suntan lotion on his arms and hands then stood to cover the rest of his body. As his hands dropped to his side he felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger. They looked thru the sand for an hour or so but could just not find it. Katie found the Ring Finders on the web and contacted SRARC. Mike sent a callout and then proceeded to drive up to Treasure Island when there was no response. Reed and Katie were still at the location and within a minute Mike found the missing ring. They were all smiles when the ring was returned to Reed’s finger and we at SRARC want to wish them a long and happy marriage.

Bailey, a newlywed from Columbus Ohio, was enjoying the sun on Madeira Beach, in Florida. She took off her ring to put on sunscreen. She placed it in the chair’s cup holder where it remained. Upon leaving, the chair was folded up and the ring fell out. Looking up detector rentals online, she came across the website for SRARC. Joe was called and met her on the beach shortly after the loss. Within 10 minutes, the ring was found. A happy ending to a Florida vacation.

Ring Recovered In Shell Key

Some friends and I were enjoying a Saturday boat outing on Shell Key. Everything was going well… until that “moment.” We were getting ready to head back and the boat driver asked “Hey Matt, can you hop out and grab that anchor?” I immediately jumped off the boat, grabbed the anchor and swam to the back of the boat to get back on board. I was standing on the swim platform and spun to the left to grab the other anchor. That’s when the “moment,” happened. I saw my wedding band slide off my finger and into the ocean below. I immediately yelled “Shut off the engine,” and jumped into the water frantically diving below to search for my ring. After about an hour of searching, I returned to the boat and called 5 local dive shops to see if they could send out a diver to search for the ring. They were all skeptical with the typical response being “There’s no way we’re going to find it, I’m sure the currents would have taken the ring, it could be hundreds of feet from where you originally dropped it.” I started to lose hope and could not stop dwelling on the thought that one of the most meaningful items I would ever own would be lost forever.
I didn’t give up and continued to call local dive shops. After a few more calls and no luck I started googling looking for help. That’s when I stumbled across The Ring Finders website which led me to reach out to the Suncoast Research and Recovery Club. I initially reached out to Howard who took my call while he was meeting with a client. I explained the situation to him and he reached out to the club to find some volunteers to help recover the ring. Later in the evening I received a call from Joe, who helped plan the hunt. We decided to meet at Tierra Verde marina on Sunday at 3PM so that they could search during low tide. Sunday came around and 3 hunters showed up, Joe, Tom and Ed. Slowly, the remorse and feelings of despair turned to hope as there were 3 hunters with over 40 years of collective experience helping to find my ring.
They searched for about an hour and a half with no luck. Ed started following me as I was in the water searching with my feet. After about another half hour, Ed looked up and said “I’m not sure if this yours, but I found one.” I raced over to him and looked at the ring. To my amazement he had found it. The feeling in that moment is hard to describe, but I can tell you it was one of the best moments of my life. I will forever be thankful to the SRARC, Ed, Tom, Joe and Howard. The entire experience of dealing with them was amazing and these guys are some of the most altruistic people I have ever met.

Lost Heirloom Ring Found At Madeira Beach

David & Melissa, from Atlanta, were just starting their vacation and celebrating their 20th anniversary. They just recently started wearing some very special rings that had been passed down to them. The rings were given to them by Melissa’s Great Uncle David & Great Aunt Lois who had been married in the 1920’s and were married for 70 years. Great Aunt Lois was blind for most of their marriage and Great Uncle David was truly devoted to her. David was wading in the surf with his daughter when he felt his ring fall off his finger. He and his family searched for several hours and had finally gave up figuring it was lost for good when a passing metal detectorist on shore had told them to search the internet for water detecting services that may be able to help. That in turn got Melissa find Ring Finders and in touch with SRARC and team member Stan Flack. A hunt was quickly organized for later that day and Stan along with Ed Osmar and Mike Shuler gave it a go in very rough waters. After about 45 minutes and a few dousing, Stan was able to walk over the ring and scoop it up from the ocean. A shocked and elated David and Melissa couldn’t believe it was found and vowed to never wear the ring in the ocean again. Great job to the Ringer finders group for sticking that one out. It was really rough out there.

Ring Lost In The Sand At Madeira Beach Recovered

Nolan was in town on vacation with his brother and his brothers girlfriend spending the day on the beach at Treasure Island in Madeira Beach. Nolan had put his ring in his beach bag and had forgot it was in there when they packed up for the day and headed to the car. Once at the car, Nola checked for his ring and it was gone. He figured it had to have been lost in the deep sand on the beach. After some internet searches, He came up with the SRARC web page and quickly was in touch with team member Stan Flack. Stan in turn called on members Paul Hill and Jim Thobe to give it a try. After only 5 minutes of searching, Jim had the ring recovered in his scoop and a very happy Nolan was thrilled to have his ring back. Nice job by both of you two on a quick recovery.
