This return will have a much different story than most. I was contacted by Eric who had been at the beach the day before, and lost his wedding ring. We decided to do a search for it when he was able to get off work and meet me at the beach.

When I got there Eric was waiting out behind the area he had been at the day before. I walked up to him, and we briefly discussed the loss, and the area we were going to go to. As we were going out across the sand, there was another metal detectorist coming from that direction leaving the beach. I could not let him go by with out letting him know why we were there, and to ask if maybe he had found Eric’s ring. So the question, did you find a gold ring in a particular area? Like an experienced person in the craft, his answer was not necessarily an answer. We made small talk, and Eric described the exact area, and then the unique pattern on the ring. He also mentioned that it had been his grandfather’s ring. The other detectorist asked Eric to describe it a little better, and with Eric’s description he included that not only was the pattern unique, but that it also had an inscription inside. At that point seeing that Eric was able to fully identify the ring, the other gentleman pulled it out of his pocket, and said that he did find it and gave it to Eric. He also said that the fact that it had been Eric’s grandfather’s ring really touched his heart. Most of the men and ladies out there with metal detectors are good people with good hearts, but have a right to be suspicious when someone comes to them asking if they found a ring or something of value. This gentleman did the right thing to insure that Eric was able to intimately describe the ring before producing it. He did a great thing that day, and it would not have happened, and Eric would not have gotten his ring back if I had not been willing to ask. Sometimes you just have to ask. It ended up being a great day.

Jolie contacted me in the evening, she had lost her ring in the sand at the beach while throwing a football around, and was needing help in finding it. I let her know I was available, and was on my way.

When I got to the area she and her friend were waiting by the swing set, and showed me the area of the loss which was right next to it. Jolie proceeded to show me exactly what she did when she felt the ring leave her finger which narrowed the search area considerably. I began my grid, and made about 5 passes before I heard anything in the head phones, then the high pitch of silver rang in my ears, and I dug. There in my scoop was one of the finest silver rings I have ever found. It was a shear delight just to look at. I pulled it out and held it up for her, and she ran over in disbelief that it was found so quickly. To see her smile was a completion of my day.

Maria contacted me concerning the loss of her engagement and wedding rings. She had given them to her daughter for her marriage, and she went to the beach a few days after. Her daughter had put the rings in her shorts for “safe keeping”, but at the end of the day, they were gone. Maria and her family spent hours trying to find the set, but were unable to. She contacted me the day after, which gave me a bit of reservation when talking about a recovery knowing that this beach is not only cleaned by machines on a daily basis, but also heavily metal detected. She would not be able to meet me there, but told me where the loss occurred, and sent a video showing the area. I was on my way.

I received a text from Chloe for help in finding her husband’s lost wedding ring. They had been at the beach 2 days prior when it was lost. I know the beach is cleaned with machines daily, and asked some pertinent questions to determine the possibility of a recovery. After her answers to my questions about the area of the loss, I told them it would definitely be worth a try, but that it might not be there for a variety of reasons, but to keep the hope alive. We decided to meet at the lowest tide of the day.

I got there before they did, and waited for them to show me where the loss occurred. When they arrived I met Chloe’s husband Matt, and they took me down to the area of where they believed they had lost the ring. Matt was pretty sure of the spot, and drew a line in the sand to show me where he believed it was lost. I began my search just to the north of his line and ran a line down to the water, and then began to work the grid back up the slope. There were no signals at all, and then a solid signal in the headphones. I dug, shook my scoop, and there in bottom was Matt’s ring, after 2 days in a prime location; Awesome! They were so happy to have it back when Chloe told me the story about the ring, that it was Matt’s Grandfather’s, and then his Dad’s. His Dad gifted it to him when Matt and Chloe got married not even a year earlier. What a special find!

I received a desperate call from Vanessa who needed to find a ring that was lost in the sand at the beach. I was able to let her know that I was immediately available, so we arranged for me to come at once to do the search.

I got to the beach where I found Vanessa, her husband Angel, and friends. It was her husband’s ring that was lost, and he proceeded to show me all the possibilities of where it could have dropped. I began a grid to insure I covered every inch of sand. I began at the most likely area, and then began to move into the other areas he had been. I made about 5 lines when I got a real good signal, but only a pull tab, and then a bottle cap. A couple of more grid lines, and another good signal; scoop in, gold ring out. Angel saw the ring bouncing around in the scoop, and came over in a hurry. I pulled it out and handed it to him, and everyone cheered. It was then that I found out that Angel and Vanessa had only been married for 3 days, and I thought; “Oh my What a Relief!” Anyway, it was great to be able to help them on this occasion.

Nick contacted me to see if I would be available to do a search for his gold chain he had lost earlier that day. It was an item that had very strong religious significance for him. He was sure it was lost on the beach, but he had left for the day, and was unable to go back. He was able to give me very good coordinates for the area of the loss, so I told him I would go that night knowing that in the morning the County beach sifters would be cleaning everything in their way.

I got to the spot and lined up the best I could, and began my grid. I covered all of the area without the chain showing up, but I know that a chain is a difficult item to find with a detector, So I started a cross grid over the previous searched area. While doing my cross grid I received a faint signal, dug, and found Nick’s chain. I felt pretty good finding this, because it was a fine link chain. I let Nick know that I found it, and we arranged to meet at a local park the next day so I could get it back to him.

Just a few short weeks ago I helped James recover his ring lost in a garden. Well I was surprised when he called me again to let me know he lost his ring again at another house he was doing some gardening at. He had been pulling some tall weeds out of the garden, then putting them into the waste container when he noticed his ring was gone again. I told him I was on my way.

I met James at the new place, and he took me back to show me the area where he was working. He explained all that he had done earlier, and showed me where I should look. I searched all of the area he had worked in, but the ring was not there. he then emptied the full waste container on the driveway and proceeded to spread the weeds out for me to scan with my detector. I worked a couple of piles with no success. While James was spreading out another bunch of weeds I scanned over the clump that remained and got a good signal. I put in my pin pointer, and within seconds had James’ ring in my hand. It had actually come off in the waste container, and would have been gone forever had we not done this search. I handed his ring back, and he was very grateful. So happy to help!

I was contacted by Deborah about the loss of her husband’s wedding ring. He was with her in the back yard the day before and was explaining how loose it was on his finger, and to show her, he walked out on the grass and flicked his hand in a downward motion. In a second the ring came off just as he expected but disappeared in the grass. They searched for hours to find it but were unable to locate it. Erin contacted me hoping I could help her. It was later in the evening and she had lost her wedding and engagement rings while at the beach earlier in the day. She and her family were unable to find them and seemed to have lost a bit of hope until they found my site. I let them know that even though it was late, I would meet them at the beach for a search, to which they agreed, and I was on my way.

Erin and her father-in-law met me at the area of the loss and showed me what had happened. They had marked the area, so they had a good idea of where to look, that always helps me to help the person I am doing a search for. I began my grid up, back, and up again. I got a good signal and scooped up her wedding band. I went over the spot again, but nothing. I then turned the direction of the swing over the spot again and got another good signal on the engagement ring. I figured I did not hear it on the first pass because it had “parachuted” into the sand and was vertical and turned so that it would only sound to a particular direction. Anyway, I was able to make Erin’s day, and also ensure a good night’s sleep for her.

Leonard called because he had lost his silver ring in his yard while throwing a ball to his dogs. It was a special gift from a friend, so it had a certain sentimental value for him. We arranged a time for me to do the search, and I went to help him in the recovery.

When I got there Leonard took me into the backyard where he showed me where the loss took place. There were a couple of planters and some bushes lining a grassy area, and not too far from the side of the area was a short fence that divided the yard from a brushy hillside. I began with the most likely area first in front of where he made the throw. Not finding the ring I began to work my way out of what would have been the line of the throw into the bushes and planters out to where the ball ended up; still no ring. I was sure hoping it did not go over the fence into the hillside brush. Before I started looking over the fence, I began to work the bushes behind the throwing point, and off to the side of where he had been standing. When sweeping under one of the bushes I got a good signal, lifted to branches, and there it was. I lifted it up to show them, and they showed such surprise that it had ended up there. I believe that “Out of the Box” thinking is what makes The Ring Finders so successful. Sometimes it just isn’t where you think it is. So glad to be a help that day.
