Carmel Beach ring found / recovered

Got a call from a fellow who lost his hefty 18K gold band.   He had been tossing a ball around with some friends on Carmel Beach.  And actually SAW the ring launch (or felt it leave his finger or whatever).   But alas, the dry sand “swallows” it.   All he has is an approximate area where he suspects it landed in.   But … No amount of hand sifting is working.

 

This one was child’s play for a metal detector, since there was no mistaking that it had been lost there (versus someone who only notices at the end of a long day, etc…).   And because he was confident of the zone.   And sure enough, it was right where he suspected.   The first “beep” after swinging the coil around.  Doh !

Twin Lakes , Santa Cruz, ring found

Was able to help this newlywed couple find the fellow’s platinum wedding band.   On Twin Lakes beach near the “Crows Nest”.  He’d lost it while tossing a football around.  It was immediately “swallowed” by the dry sand.   Glad I could help you guys.   Thanx for the tip !

Ring recovered in Santa Cruz, Nisene Marks park

Got a call from “Madison”.  Visiting from Sacramento, to Santa Cruz / Watsonville.   Her & some friends spent the day hiking several miles of trails in Nisene Marks park.   Prior to starting the hike, she had taken off her 1 carat diamond solitaire ring, and put it into her jacket pocket “for safe keeping”.  She also had her smart phone in the same jacket pocket.

 

During the course of a ~4 mile hike, she had taken the phone out, several times, for picture taking, checking her GPS, etc…   At the end of the day, she realized her ring was not in the pocket any longer.  She figured it must have come out during the hike.   And thought maybe the action of pulling the phone, in and out of the pocket, could have caused the ring to come out .  Eg.:  Maybe the “crown” gets caught on the rubber edge of the phone casing, etc…

 

Sure enough, after ~3 hrs. retrace hike, we were able to find the ring, under leaf-duff, at one of the spots where she’d stopped to take pix.   Glad your heirloom is back safely in your family Madison !   Nice meeting you guys.  Glad I could help.   Thanx for the tip.

Del Monte Beach Ring found / recovery

A nice fellow and his wife were vacationing here in Monterey, for his wife’s birthday weekend.   The fellow went down to the water’s edge at Del Monte Beach, to wash off his kid’s sandy hands , in the ebbing surf.  To rinse off his kids’ hands.   As he did so, his ring slips off into the cold surf.   But he was momentarily unaware of this.   Then he went up to where the tidal zone meets the dry sand, and began to shake the water drops/sand off his own hands.   And it was at that point he realized his ring was gone.   He figured it must have “flung” when he’d made motions with his arms there.

 

I got the call and met him within 15 minutes on the beach.  He showed me the suspected zone.   But alas, nothing there.   Then he casually mentioned how he’d been at the water’s edge for a brief moment with his kid.   So we gave it a try further down there, and presto :  There was the ring.  Buried in the sand closer down towards the water.

Ring recovery on Monterey Beach

Was able to help recover this 14k wedding ring, on Monterey Beach, Del Monte Beach yesterday.  “Jessica” had been standing in the ebbing surf, with wet sandy hands.  She felt her ring come off , in the surf’s edge, roiling ebbing foamy water.   The sand and water immediately “swallow” the ring.  So that when the water/wave pulls out:  All they see is sand.  No ring 🙁

 

A full day’s high tide came and went before we connected.   She had the approx area to describe via text pix and map.   And with a little study of the tide charts, was able to determine a probable parallel in the wet inter-tidal zone.   After 14 other targets (pennies, pulltabs, etc….), the ring surfaced.

Palm Beach Watsonville ring recovery

Watsonvill, Palm Beach.   14k class ring recovered for these folks.   The young man was wearing his father’s hefty 14k class ring.  As he was throwing a football back and forth to another person on the beach, he felt his ring launch .   Via the throwing motion force/velocity.   But couldn’t see exactly where it went, or how far it launched.   The dry sand immediately swallows it.

 

They went to the local Big Box store and bought a few $89 beginner model detectors, but :   Couldn’t figure out how to use them properly, and weren’t finding their ring.   I got the call, and was on the beach within the hour .   Very familiar with that beach, since I’ve hunted it since 1980.   Within a few minutes, it was my first target.  I think the heavy minerals were affecting their machine’s operations.   And despite having just been lost earlier that day, the ring was surprisingly deep.   D/t the heavy gold density weight of the gold, & the foot traffic foot steps in the area pushing it deeper.

 

The family heirloom, passed from father to son, is safe in the family’s keepsakes.   Glad I could help.  Thanx for the tip.

Ring recovered Carmel Beach

This couple was visiting Carmel Beach from Sacramento.   The fellow proposed to his girlfriend with this 1 carat diamond ring.   But a mere 30 minutes later, she felt the new ring slip off her finger in the dark.   Getting flung in the direction of her hand movement.   The dry sand immediately “swallowed up/covered” the ring.  Not visible from the surface.  After raking around with their fingers in the suspected zone for awhile, they figured a metal detector would solve this problem.  Thanks to the Ring Finder directory, we were able to hook up.  I was there within 30 minutes.   And within 30 seconds, they had their ring back.

Carmel beach. Lost ring found.

Got a call from some folks, who had a wedding coming up in just a couple of days.  They lost the bride-to-be ring just days before the planned event.   She had taken the ring off , and stashed it for safe-keeping, in their belongings that they’d set at their beach blanket area.     When they went to leave, somehow it got lost in the sand.   They looked up Lost Ring + Carmel beach, etc… on the web.

 

Found this Ring Finders directory listing, and we hooked up to look for it.  Found the ring in 5 minutes.  Right in their suspected foot-path zone.

Seascape Beach ring found

Got a call from a person who lost their gold ring on Seascape Beach, near Aptos and Watsonville area.   She had her ring for safe-keeping in a bag with other belongings.  At a certain point, the bag tipped over .  She steadied the bag, put the thermos back inside, and was unaware that her ring must have slipped out at that time.  It was not till she got home that she realized her ring wasn’t in the bag.   She figured it must have slipped out when the bag had tipped earlier.   She went back to the spot, as best she could remember that exact spot.  But the dry loose sand had swallowed the ring.  It was not visible , and no amount of feeling around produced results.   She called me, and we were  able to help reunite a family heirloom ring to the owner.   Glad to help.     An added note :  This beach has extremely black mineralized sand, and the ring was very dainty, so I had actually missed it on the first pass through the suspect zone.   Going back through the 2nd time, I gave double scrutiny for whispers trying to come in over the static produced by the black sand conditions.  This time, got the signal I had missed on the first pass through.

Lost ring recovered at upper Del Monte Beach, near Seaside

Got a call last night from 2 nice College students.   They were playing volleyball on the beach, when one of them felt (and got a glimpse of) their ring launching away from them.  A nice hefty gold ring with emerald stone.    The dry loose sand immediately swallows it, and they don’t know where it is.   Was able to meet with them immediately, and to locate it in about 30 seconds.  Glad to help !
