Christopher lost his wedding band while playing volleyball on a sandy beach. All of his friends helped in searching for the ring with no luck. They even obtained a detector and a rake to aid in their hours of effort. It was time for some experienced help. First by Leah, Christoper’s wife. She searched the web for help and found TheRingFinders.com, the Cape Cod location and my name and number. She called and I was on my way.

As I approached the beach I could see all the signs of previous search efforts. There were the rake marks, the footprints of a search pattern, holes, and piles of sand and lastly I saw a detector laying off to the side. I was shown the area the loss most likely occurred at and all the other areas that it might have been lost. I started to search at the most likely area and moved on from there. In some 2 hours I had searched over the entire area without finding the missing ring. Back at the most likely area I started to cross the area with a diagonal pattern in relationship to the square one I had already done. Still no ring and now the sun was setting. Now the question, the same as before, “Where is the ring.”

The next search would be in the morning at low tide. Even thou Christopher said he did not go to the water, that was the only area I had a thought that while setting the volley ball up for a teammate that the ring may have been launched into the surf.

Two hours before low tide I arrived only to see an empty parking lot. The entire MIT group had left and only the owner was at the Air BnB. I got right to the water’s edge and started a search parallel to the beach and working into deeper water. After another hour of searching and two feet from the low water line I finally heard a signal that sounded like it should be the wayward ring, and it was.

The search was over that is until the package containing the ring went into the out-to-be delivered USPS system. Both Christopher and I agreed that it was the results of the four days of the Nor-Easter storm and that the package must be picked up at the Post Office. That happened on October 1st. Add a smiling photo and finishing touched to the story and I was on my way to find another wedding band not on the beach but somewhere in an Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary.
