It was dark already when I received the call from Haithum about a lost ring in the sand at the beach. Knowing that beach, and how it is cleaned all the time with machines, I let him know I would come right away.

He let me know that there was a run going on at the moment, and I thought it should not be a big deal until got to the area, and found it was a Nike After Dark run with thousands of ladies participating. Because of the limited beach parking, and sheer number of the crowds, I ended up having to park about 3 miles from the area of the loss. I got there a bit later than I thought I would because it was up and down coastal hills all the way to the beach, and found Haithum and his fiance Kalyn. They showed me where she had been sitting and what she did to lose the ring as well as where they believed it went. I began my search, and covered all that area, and then began to search out of the box. I found the ring behind where she thought it would have been. Funny how those rings never go where you think they went. The two had only been engaged for one month, so getting that beautiful ring back on Kalyn’s finger was special,
