Nokomis Beach, FL — Engagement Ring Lost in Water Found and Returned!

from Sanibel Island (Florida, United States)

This young lady lost her diamond engagement ring in the Gulf waters of Nokomis Beach just a few hours after her fiancée had proposed.  Many people helped look for the lost ring before darkness set in with no success.  That’s when we received an email and phone call asking for our assistance and arrangements were made to meet the next morning.

Upon our arrival at the beach the next morning, my wife and I met with the couple who had narrowed down the search area where they believed the ring was lost.  The water had been calm overnight and we expressed our confidence in recovering the ring.  Sure enough, within just a few minutes of searching with our detectors, my wife uncovered the lost ring.

With a huge sigh of relief, hugs and smiles were exchanged as the ring was back where it belonged!

Naples, FL — Ring Lost In Chest Deep Water — Found and Returned!

Ring found and returned — Matlacha

from Sanibel Island (Florida, United States)

Story as told by Steve:

I went fishing over the weekend and lost my wedding ring in somewhat of a freak accident. I was stung by a wasp reaching into a bucket. When I pulled my hand out abruptly, my ring went flying off my hand into the water of Matlacha FL. As I was out before sunrise, I did no see where the ring landed exactly.

I spent the remainder of that day diving and searching for the ring on the 4-5 foot grass flat that I had lost it in. With no luck, I marked the spot on the GPS on my boat and headed in. When I returned home, my wife had found Craig and his wife online through a quick search in Google. I immediately contacted Craig and he agreed to come out and search for the ring the following day after work (2 days after I had lost the ring).

I picked Craig and his wife up at the local boat ramp on my boat and headed into Matlacha Pass. The water was calm with about a 5mph west wind. Having quite the storm the evening before, I was skeptical that we would even have a chance at finding the ring with the current and wind pushing the water around. When we arrived at the grass flat where I had lost the ring, I anchored directly center of my GPS mark as best I could and Craig jumped in the water. I kid you not, less than 5 minutes later he pulled the ring out of the chest deep water. It had embedded itself in the mud and he was able to quickly locate it with his metal detector. Stunned, and in awe I couldn’t believe what I had just witnessed.

Craig and his wife were both very down to Earth, and great people to chat with. They treasure hunt as a hobby and really enjoy helping people locate their lost items. I cannot thank them both enough for finding my wedding ring. My only regret was that I quit recording Craig searching for the ring too soon. Another minute or so and I would have had him on camera finding the ring!

Thank you both again for everything!
