Lady’s White Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

On 7/18/2025 shortly after 2 pm, I received a call from Kari asking if I could help find her wedding band. I asked her if it was in the water and she stated, “No, it’s in the dry sand.” She mentioned that she had taken her rings off to apply suntan lotion. She also said she had found 5 of her rings but couldn’t find the wedding band. I told her I could be there in 20-30 minutes and asked her to send me the address. I was on my way when I got the address. I plugged it into my GPS and sent her a text saying I was on my way and my ETA.

When I got to the beach, parking was non-existent. I pulled into the resort parking garage and found a spot. I was hoping I could find her ring and be back to the car before I got a ticket. I sent her a text saying, “Here.” She called me and told me she saw me and was waving. I saw her and made my way in her direction. I asked her what kind of metal it was, and she handed me her engagement ring and said it’s just like this one. White gold wedding and engagement rings usually shows a VDI (visual display indicator) between 4-6. I turned my detector on, laid the engagement ring in the sand, which quickly disappeared, and ran the coil over the area.  Sure enough, the engagement ring rang up as a 4. I had to use my scoop to get her engagement ring back out of the sand. Kari showed me the area, which was about a 1ft-by-1ft spot. I looked at her, said “30 seconds” and ran my coil over the spot and BINGO! I got a 3 on the VDI, took a very small scoop of sand and had the target. I gently shook out the sand, saw her ring and then held the scoop up so she could see and retrieve her ring. Happy Lady!!!

Grandfather’s Gold Crucifix Lost in Grassy Area, Found and Returned Leland, NC

A little after 11am this morning, the 21st of March, I got a message from fellow Ring Finder, Steve Ray. The message said “I just got a call about a lost cross where he knows the area, along, but not in a lake. Leland NC, if you’re interested. I’m in Ohio.” Steve also sent a text from the owner, along with a phone number. I messaged Steve back saying, “Yea, I can take it.” I called the number in the text and didn’t get an answer, so I left a voice mail. Within seconds, Matt, the owner, called me back and I got additional information. He agreed with me coming to search, and I told him I’d be there in about an hour.

When I arrived, Matt was standing on the balcony of the apartment and came right down to the parking lot.  As we’re walking out to the area, he explained that when he woke up this morning, he needed to get something out of the car. At the time, his wife had the car keys, and she was out in a back area of the apartments with the dogs. So, he had walked out to get the keys from his wife. While he was out there, he felt the chain break that was holding the Crucifix. He grabbed the chain and thought the Crucifix fell out of his shirt on the ground. He also stated that he searched the area numerous times. He also searched the bedroom, bathroom and rest of the apartment with no luck. As he’s taking me to the area, I searched his path both visually and with the Nox 800. When we got to where he said the chain broke, I started a grid search. It was a small area, maybe 10×20 foot square. Both sides of the area had wire fencings. I checked those areas, which was mostly leaves with my pin pointer. As I’m searching, all of a sudden, he says, “Thank You for coming” and he had a big smile on his face. It only meant one thing! As I turned around to see what he was talking about, he put both hands on my shoulder and squeezed my shoulders. He pointed to the ground, and I could see the Crucifix, which was well blended in with the ground. I love it when things work out for the best. On the way back to my car, Matt told me the Crucifix originally belonged to his grandfather. When Matt’s grandparents hit their 50th wedding anniversary, his grandfather had the Crucifix specially engraved and gave it to wife. Both grandparents have passed and it’s all the more sentimental to Matt as a reminder of his Grandparents every day. It was a beautiful story!

Family Heirloom Yellow Gold Horseshoe Ring Lost in the Sand, Found and Returned Cherry Grove NC

I got a call from Bill inquiring about finding a lost ring. I explained how I operate and asked when and where the ring was lost. He stated that his granddaughter had almost worn it in the ocean. She remembered not to and walked back up and put the ring in a chair. At some point the ring went from the chair into the dry sand. It amazes me sometimes; how very good intentions go south so easily. I got the condo address and told him I’d be there in about 15 minutes.

When I arrived, Bill was waiting in front of the condo, and we walked out to the beach. I met Kinsley and her mother January. I could see where the family had tried to find the ring to no avail. I asked Kinsley a few questions, one being what kind of ring it was. She stated a yellow gold horseshoe shape with diamonds, or something to that affect. I looked at her and said, “how about we get the ring back on your finger in less than 2 minutes.” She looked at me like I was nuts. January told me that the ring belonged to Kinsley’s grandmother and the ring had been passed down to Kinsley. Now there’s a new twist to this ring find, a family heirloom that has got to be found. I turned my Equinox 800 on and started a very tight grid line. The first target was a pull tab which rang up as a 13 on the machine. A small gold ring could also ring up at 13. I took a few more steps and hit a solid 10. I knew I had her ring then. I reached down in the sand and instantly felt it. I pulled it up out of the sand and showed Kinsley who put her hands over her face. She was very surprised and happy to get her ring back.
