Gold Wedding Ring Lost In The Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector, in Old Orchard Beach, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)
?️ ??????????? ??? ?? ???????, ?? ??? ??????? ?????! ?️
It was Thursday, July 16th, and it started out as a picture-perfect Maine summer day. ☀️
Ron and his wife, Deb, were loving every second of their vacation, relaxing outside the Sea Watch Condominiums right here in Old Orchard Beach. ?️
The ocean view was beautiful, the sun was shining, and the beach was packed with people soaking up the warmth.
After a while, Ron decided to head into the surf for a refreshing swim . ?
Before walking down to the water, he did what many people do—he slipped off his precious wedding ring and placed it safely inside the cup holder of his beach chair. ??
After his swim, Ron rejoined Deb at their chairs. The couple lay back, completely relaxed, without a single care in the world.
But Mother Nature had other plans for mid-afternoon. ?
Out of absolutely nowhere, a massive, severe cold front slammed into the coast. A line of violent thunderstorms swept through the area with terrifying speed. Suddenly, peaceful relaxation turned into pure survival mode! ⛈️?
* ??? ?????? ??? ??? Local wind gusts right on Old Orchard Beach clocked in at an incredible 43 mph, whipping the ocean into a choppy, dangerous surf.
* ??? ?????? ??????: The storm was tearing across the state, bringing 44 mph winds to Sanford and up to 60 mph gusts up north in Bangor, leaving tens of thousands of Mainers entirely without power! ??
Down on OOB, the wind hit like a freight train. Everyone on the beach was literally being sandblasted by the flying grit. It was blinding, painful, and complete chaos. ?‍♂️?‍♀️
Panicking as the storm raged around them, Ron and Deb grabbed what they could and fled the beach, running as fast as they could to find cover from the wind and pelting rain.?️
But in the frantic rush to escape being sandblasted… Ron’s wedding ring was completely forgotten, sitting right there in the cup holder of his beach chair. ??
Once they safely made it back inside their room at The SeaWatch Beachfront Condominiums, the adrenaline began to fade, and a sinking feeling set in. Ron reached for his finger, looked around, and realized with a jolt that his ring was missing!
They frantically tore through everything they had carried inside. They checked and re-checked the beach chairs, shook out the towels, and emptied the beach bags. All to no avail.
As soon as the severe weather finally passed the area, Ron and Deb hurried back down to the beach, eyes glued to the ground. But the storm had done its work. The heavy wind and flying sand had completely reshaped the beach, and the ring had vanished without a trace. ??️
Seeing their distress, several kind members of The SeaWatch Association stepped in to help. They gave Deb my contact information and told her to give me a call. ?
When Deb reached out, she asked if I might be able to head down to search for her husband’s ring over the next day or so, whenever I could find the time. I stopped her right there. I explained that when it comes to a lost ring on a shifting shoreline, time is of the essence! ⏰
Waiting a day or two simply wasn’t an option. Old Orchard is a highly popular public beach where a stray glint of gold can easily catch someone else’s eye.
Even worse, the OOB beach cleaning rake machines are a HUGE concern, capable of scooping up and burying a ring deep in the debris.
On top of that, there is always the chance of another metal detectorist scanning the area before I could get there. ??️‍♂️
I told Deb that Cheryl and I would load up the gear and be down there in 15 to 20 minutes! ??
When we arrived on site, Ron and Deb met us to point out the area where they had been sitting when the cold front blew through.
However, memory can be a bit tricky after a wild storm, and there was a little confusion as to the exact location.
Ron was convinced they had been parked towards the northern end of the building, while Deb was absolutely certain it was more towards the center of the structure. ??️
Now, I’ve done enough of these recoveries to know you never argue with a wife’s intuition!
I chose to start my precise grid search in the exact area Deb pointed out. I reassured the couple that if it didn’t turn up there, I would move over to search Ron’s suspected area next. If that still didn’t work, I was prepared to grid the entire escape route they took from the beach all the way to the access path. ?
I turned on my detector and began sweeping the sand in Deb’s zone. I didn’t have to walk very far before my machine locked onto a very strong, beautiful signal! ?
With Deb standing anxiously right beside me, I pulled out my pinpointer to narrow down the target. As I carefully moved the top layer of sand aside, a HUGE gold ring glinted in the sunlight! ✨?
Deb instantly gasped, “????’? ??!” ?
Ron, looking over from a few yards away, blinked and said, “????’? ?????” ?
Deb shouted back with a huge smile, “????’? ???? ????!” ?
Ron stood there in total disbelief, scratching his head. “? ??????? ?? ??? ???? ????!”
Chalk up another massive win for wife’s intuition! ??‍♀️
Ron walked on over, and it was an incredible feeling to place that heavy gold band right back into his hand. Deb immediately threw her arms around me, giving me a big, grateful hug and thanking me for saving the day. Ron followed right up with a hearty, unforgettable handshake and his own deep thanks. ?❤️
As Cheryl and I packed up and walked off the beach, the happy couple thanked us one last time. They were already heading back to find those wonderful SeaWatch Association Members to give them a massive thank you for the life-saving referral!
Moments like this remind us why “?? ???? ??? ???? ??? ?? ??? ?????. ?? ???? ??? ???!” Another piece of precious history saved, and another stormy day turned into smiles! ??

Tungsten Wedding Ring Lost In The Ocean Park Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector In Old Orchard Beach, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)
? ????? ???? ???????: ???????? & ?????? #? ?? ??? ???!?
What a day July 11th turned out to be! I was already running on pure adrenaline after completing two successful ring rescues earlier in the day. Just as I was wrapping up, my phone buzzed with an urgent text from a local Old Orchard Beach resident named Brittany.
She was looking for her husband Trent’s lost wedding band, but she knew the odds were heavily stacked against them.
???? ?? ??? ????? ??????? ???????? ???? ??:
???
“???? ?? ? ???? ????! ???? 48 +?????. ?? ??????? ???? ??? ??????? ???? ?? ???? ????. ???????? ????? ????? ????????. ??????? ?? ???? ????? ????????. ?? ??? ??? ??????? ????? ?????? ??? ? ???? ????? ???? ????. ?? ??? ?????? 5:30 ?? ???????? ????? ?? ???? ???? ????? ???? ?????? ?????. ?? ???? ??? ???????? ?? ??? ??? ??? ?????? ????? ?????? ??? ???? ???????? ?????? ??? ??? ?????? ???????? ???????? ???? ??? ????? ???? ???? ????? ???? ??? ?????. ???????? ???? ???? ???? ???. 6??. ? ??????? ?? ??? ?? ???????? ?????? ?? ???. ?????????? ??? ????!”
??? ???? ??????? ???? ?? ??? ??? ????⏳
While Brittany’s text mentioned swimming, it turned out Trent’s ring actually slipped off up in the dry sand right along their towel line. In many ways, this made the situation even more urgent.
This is a heavily used, packed summer beach. For over 48 hours, that heavy tungsten ring sat exposed to countless feet. Our biggest fears? A passerby spotting it, another metal detectorist scooping it up, or worse—the massive beach-cleaning rakes scooping it into the trash during a morning sweep.
Funny thing about this ring—it’s a bit of a traveler! Trent and Brittany have only been married for one year, but Trent had actually lost this exact same ring once before on a cruise earlier this year. They managed to find it themselves on the ship, but lightning had just struck twice in Ocean Park!
??? ?????? & ? ??? ?? ??? ????? ?
I headed straight out and immediately met Trent down at Ocean Park. Having him there was a massive help—he walked me right to the exact spot where he and Brittany had set up their towels and chairs.
As I started a meticulous grid search through the dry sand, we weren’t alone. A family was still enjoying the beach that night, including Kim, who happened to be a big fan of The Ring Finders of Maine! She was incredibly excited to watch the live search unfold right in front of her.
Suddenly, a beautiful, crisp signal hit my headphones. I moved the top layer of sand, and there it was—the heavy, 6mm tungsten ring with its distinct gold rim, completely safe from the rakes and crowds. I flipped it over, checked the inside, and confirmed the initials: BJG.
????????? ????????! ??
The moment the ring was pulled from the sand, Trent raised his arms, victoriously, into the air. He then gave me a high five ? and a big hug? . Kim and her family broke out into immediate applause ? ! It was such an awesome, high-energy moment on the beach.
Handing the ring right back to Trent on the spot was the perfect ending to an unbelievable day. This marked my third successful recovery and return in a single day! There is truly no better feeling than saving a piece of family history just in the nick of time and handing it back to grateful local residents.
A huge thank you to Kim for your wonderful support and for cheering us on! Welcome home, Trent’s ring (again)! ?

Gold Stud Earring Lost In The Grass, Found With A Metal Detector, In Scarborough, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

???? ?????????? ????????: Handcrafted Treasure Saved! ?✨

On July 15th, I got a heartbreaking call from Emily, a local real estate agent. ?‍?
The night before, she was playing volleyball at Memorial Park in Scarborough, Maine. ?

? Side note: This park is so nostalgic for me—it’s the site of the old Portland Twin Drive-In Theatre! ??

During a big play at the net, Emily jumped high and brushed against the mesh. ?

In a split second, her custom earring slipped out and vanished into the thick grass. ?

Emily and her friends searched on their hands and knees but found absolutely nothing. ?

This wasn’t just any jewelry. Emily used to be a professional jeweler. ?️

She had designed and handcrafted this specific gold earring herself. ?

She left the park completely devastated. ?

? ??? ???? ???????? ??? ? ???????????’? ?????????:

Most people think metal detectors find jewelry instantly. ?

But tiny stud earrings are the ultimate test of skill and gear. ?️

They contain an incredibly minute amount of precious metal. ?

When they fall into thick grass, they rarely lay flat. ?

Standard detecting programs look for round, dense targets like coins or thick wedding bands. ??

A vertical, microscopic gold post has an electromagnetic footprint that is almost non-existent. ?

Standard factory programs will simply ignore it or filter it out as ground noise. ?

To give us a fighting chance, I swapped to my agile 8″ coil. ?

I booted up the Minelab Manticore’s specialized “Gold Field” program. ?

This mode is engineered to sniff out tiny, low-conductive gold that other detectors miss. ✨

⚡ ??? ?????? & ??? ?????? ??????:

Emily met me at the park at 1:30 PM, right after I got back from York. ?

She had smartly marked the exact net post hole with a small tree branch. ?

I started a tight, overlapping grid search on her side of the net. ?

Nothing but faint iron mineralization from the soil. ?

I crossed over to the opposing team’s side of the net and kept swinging. ?️‍♂️

After 5 to 6 minutes of methodical scanning… BANG! ⚡

A sharp, beautifully repeatable audio signal broke through my headphones. ?

Having had two complete and total knee replacements, dropping down to the ground wasn’t happening. ??

Instead, I carefully bent over and used my handheld pinpointer to narrow down the grass blades. ?️‍♂️?

As I slowly parted the turf with my fingers, there it was—gleaming bright yellow in the dirt! ✨?

Emily spotted it at the exact same millisecond. ?️⭐

(If you haven’t seen her reaction yet, go watch the video Reel I posted last night!) ??

She started jumping up and down with her hands in the air, celebrating wildly! ??

? “WOW, thank you so much!” she shouted. ??

Seeing that pure joy and relief is exactly why I do this. ❤️

Honestly, I have the best job in the world, and I love my job! ??

Welcome home, earring! ??

??????-???-????? ?? ??? ?????????? ??????!?️

Funny enough, volleyball courts have been my specialty this season!

This actually marks my third volleyball court recovery of the year. ?

The first two were rings lost in the deep sand during intense beach volleyball games. ?️?

But switching from soft beach sand to thick park grass is a whole different ballgame—and it feels great to keep the streak alive! ?️➡️?

????? ????????? ????????? ???’? ???? ?? ????!?✨

At the end of the day, our motto is simple:

? “?? ?? ??????? ?? ???, ?? ??????? ?? ??.”?

Whether it’s a sentimental ring lost on the beach ?️, a family heirloom dropped in the backyard ?, or a tiny earring lost in a local park ?, time is of the essence. ⏱️

Newlywed’s Engagement Ring Lost In The Beach Sand, Found With A Metal Detector, In Ocean Park, Maine Old Orchard Beach

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? FOUND AT THE BEACH! ?✨

Talk about a rollercoaster of a day for a couple of newlyweds!

On July 11th, Jen and her husband Ryan—married for just one single month—were enjoying a beautiful Maine summer day on the beach in Ocean Park, Maine with 15 to 20 of their closest family and friends.

Suddenly, the unthinkable happened. Jen went to remove her engagement ring, and it ????????? ???? ????? ??? ??? ??????, vanishing deep into the sand somewhere in front of her. ?

The entire group jumped into action, searching the sand, but couldn’t find a trace of it. That’s when someone in the crowd made the brilliant suggestion to call The Ring Finders of Maine! ?

When the call came in, I was actually an hour away at Sebago Lake Maine , knee-deep in a water search for another lost wedding ring. I told the Ocean Park crew that Cheryl and I would head their way the second I finished.

Talk about luck—just 5 minutes later, I recovered the ring at Sebago Lake!

I immediately called Jen’s group back to let them know we were on our way. I gave them two crucial pieces of advice: ???? ?????????? ??? ????, ??? ???? ??? ???? ????? ???? ??????? ?? ??????.

When we arrived in Ocean Park an hour later, the whole group warmly greeted us. Jen showed me exactly where she was standing and the direction the ring flew.

And let me tell you, this group did a phenomenal job—they used children’s beach toys to create a large circle around the entire hot zone! A truly brilliant move. ??️

I kicked off my grid search at the top of the toy circle, working my way down toward the ocean. I finished my first pass, turned around, and started heading back toward the shore.

About 3/4 of the way back…????! I got the exact tone I was hoping for on my metal detector. ?

I pulled out my pinpointer, cleared the sand, and pulled out Jen’s beautiful engagement ring!

The second the ring cleared the sand, the entire beach exploded into cheering and clapping! ??

The heavy tension in the air instantly evaporated, replaced by pure joy and relief.

Gold And Platinum Wedding Ring Lost In The Water Of Sebago Lake, Found With A Metal Detector, In Standish, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? SAVED FROM SEBAGO LAKE! ?

It was supposed to be the ultimate bachelor weekend getaway.
A group of lifelong friends. A stunning waterfront lake house in Standish, Maine. Perfect weather over beautiful Sebago Lake Maine. ?

But what happened next turned a perfect weekend into a full-blown emergency… ?

☀️ THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGED ☀️

Nick was out in the water enjoying Sebago Lake—tossing a football, swimming, and floating around with the guys—when disaster struck.

His gold and platinum wedding ring suddenly slipped off his finger.

Before anyone could react… it disappeared beneath the surface. Gone. Just like that. ?

The panic set in immediately.

Imagine having to make that phone call to your wife from a bachelor party weekend… YIKES!!! ?

? Determined not to give up, the bachelor crew jumped into action.

They swam, waded, and searched the area themselves. Smartly, they even placed two large stones on the lake bed to mark the exact drop zone.

But finding a ring in waist- to chest-deep water is nearly impossible by hand.

Despite their best efforts… the ring was still missing.

? “WE NEED HELP…” (THIS IS WHEN WE WERE CALLED) ?

Realizing they were running out of time, Nick contacted The Ring Finders of Maine.

Cheryl and I immediately loaded up my fully waterproof metal detecting gear and headed to Standish, Maine and Sebago Lake, Maine.

When we arrived, the guys showed us the stone markers they had placed—perfect reference points.

We geared up, entered the water, and began a careful grid search.

? 10 MINUTES LATER… THIS HAPPENED ?

I swept the detector back across the marked area…

Nothing.

I adjusted slightly and continued the grid pattern.

Still nothing.

Then I turned just a bit farther left… and everything changed. ?

A clean, unmistakable signal rang out through my headphones.

I scooped the sand, swirled it in the water… and there it was.

? Nick’s gold and platinum wedding ring.

I lifted it high and said:

“Gold & platinum?”

The entire group erupted in cheers. The energy was unbelievable. ?

Nick’s relief said it all—what started as a disaster was now a full recovery.

And best of all… no dreaded phone call home needed. ?

Father’s Gold Heirloom Wedding Ring Lost In Sebago Lake, Found With A Metal Detector, in Standish, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? LOST HEIRLOOM ON SEBAGO LAKE! ?

? A 56-Year-Old Father’s Legacy, Saved From the Sand! ?

I received a phone call from Angela on July 8th. ?

She and her husband, Bill, had been enjoying an absolutely gorgeous Maine summer day at Rich Memorial Beach in Standish, Maine. ?️

This beach is a private beach on Sebago Lake Maine, just for Standish Maine residents. I knew this beach well from a two-ring search last summer.

? THE HEARTBREAK
Angela told me that Bill was in the water, in about three feet of water, when his wedding ring fell into the lake. ?

Bill had felt and seen the ring falling into the water but just couldn’t catch it in time. After searching the sandy area where he had been standing for over an hour, he gave up and left for home.

Angela then told me that this wedding ring is not only Bill’s, but that this ring was also Bill’s late father’s wedding ring. Bill was very concerned that the ring wouldn’t be found. ?

⏱️ RACE AGAINST THE CLOCK

WOW!!! Another family heirloom lost, and I wanted to find this badly.

It was now just after 5:00 pm. By the time I loaded up my equipment and drove the 45-50 minutes up there, I wouldn’t have much time at all to search. ⏱️

Even though Bill and Angela knew the area the ring was in, it was just cutting it too close for a proper grid search before the beach closed for the day.

Rich Memorial Beach was reopening at 9:30 am in the morning. I agreed to meet them there as the beach opened and before it got busy. ?

? THE SEARCH BEGINS

Cheryl and I arrived at the beach just prior to 9:30 am. Bill and Angela were already there in the parking lot. After a few pleasantries, we all went straight down to the beach.

It was another beautiful day and the beach was not crowded yet. With only 5-6 people there, it was a perfect situation to search. ?

I wouldn’t be bothering any of the members, and the area I needed to search wouldn’t be disturbed.

If the area were full of swimmers and waders, the ring could possibly be moved to deeper water or pushed deeper into the soft sandy bottom, making a recovery more difficult.

Thankfully, we had this area of the beach to ourselves. ?

As I was putting my gear on, Bill and Angela were pointing out the area where the ring should be.

I could tell by the way Bill talked about his and his father’s ring just how much this ring meant to him. The love for his father was very obvious, and even though Bill was putting up a strong front, he wanted this family heirloom back. ❤️

Only one thing to do now—let’s go find this 56-year-old family heirloom ring! ?

? THE FIRST TARGETS

I entered Sebago Lake, and even at this early time of day, the water was very warm and comfortable. Perfect!!! ☀️

As I walked out to the area, I asked the couple a few questions. “Were you this far out? Were you this far over?”

I wanted to start just a little further to the north and just a foot or so deeper in the water than Bill had been. I would grid search from north to south, parallel with the shore. ?️

When I passed the spot Bill had been in, Bill and Angela would let me know. At that point, I would take half a step toward the shore, turn around, and then head north toward the area I started in.

The water was so very, very clear. I was hoping to see the ring on the bottom, but as we all know, once a ring is in the sand, 99% of the time you won’t see it.

As I started my first pass of the grid search, I was praying I would find this ring fast and get it back on Bill’s finger. ?

I was just a few minutes into the first pass when I received my first target. It was a nice, low tone that I had hoped to hear. ?

I took a scoop of sand and sifted it out, leaving many small rocks. I didn’t see a ring, and actually, I didn’t see any metal at all.
I rechecked the hole, and the target was gone. After searching the scoop and hole a second time, still nothing.

I surmised it was a small piece of aluminum that had made its way out of my scoop through one of the holes. That happens all the time with very small pieces of metal. ?

✨ FLASH OF GOLD!

Okay, back to the search.
I took about 2–3 steps and received another target, and this one was louder. ?

I took a scoop of sand, and as I was sifting it out and bringing it out of the water for a look, I caught a glimpse of gold! ✨

I now had the scoop out of the water, and I could see a gold ring!

I reached into the scoop, fumbling around the rocks, and grabbed the wedding ring. ?

With Bill, Angela, and Cheryl on shore, I asked, “Did you say it was yellow gold?”
I held the ring up so all could see, and Bill said, “You’re the man!” ?

WOW!!! Not even 5 minutes, and I felt great knowing Bill would be putting his and his father’s ring back on. The stress and anxiety for Bill and Angela was now over. ?

? A MOMENT OF PANIC?

As I was walking out of the water, I could see the big smiles on their faces. ?‍?‍?

When I arrived on shore, I held the ring up and said, “Is that it?”
Bill started walking toward me, looked at the ring, and said, “That’s… Oh, that’s not it.” ?

He then quickly said, as he took the ring, “Yeah, yeah, that’s it!” ?

We were all laughing at this point, and thankfully, Bill and Angela were no longer worried about this very sentimental, cherished wedding ring.

? THE POWER OF A STORY

The couple told Cheryl and me that when Bill’s father passed away many years ago, Bill received his dad’s wedding ring. ?️

When Bill and Angela were married 23 years ago, there was no question that Bill would wear his father’s ring to honor and show his love for his father.

I often mention that every ring has a story, and this ring’s story shows a love and legacy between a father and son that, after all these years, is as strong as it has ever been. ?

We are so proud to be able to help people like Bill and Angela in their time of need. We have the best job in the world. We love our job. ?

Platinum Engagement and Wedding Rings Lost On The Beach, in York Maine, Found With A Metal Detector, at Long Sands Beach

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? A Race Against the Tide: The Search for Katie’s Rings ?
I received the following text

*“Hi, my name is Katie. I found your info on Google saying you try and find people’s lost wedding rings? I lost mine today on York Beach, Maine , Long Sands right before high tide.

We tried to go look but couldn’t find it or our exact spot. Was wondering how your services work and if you might be able to help me. My husband and I have been married for almost 9 years… we walked down the horrible steps and then sat on the wet sand before high tide, in between the bad set of stairs and the ones just south of them. There’s a house across the street, its number is **, and it has little buoys that kinda look like popsicles.” ?️

Along with the message, Katie sent a Google map with a pin drop and GPS coordinates. Excellent.

⏱️ The 5:30 AM Game Plan
After looking at the location and the tide charts, we knew our best chance of recovery would be early in the morning on July 5th. Gary and I arrived at Long Sands Beach in York Beach, Maine at 5:30 AM. ?

With low tide at 9:31 AM, we had plenty of time to search for her wedding and engagement rings, which were soldered together. With two of us on the job, we could cover the entire area without worrying about the incoming water.

Katie had lost her platinum wedding set when she took them off to apply lotion to her children. ? She placed them in the cupholder of her beach chair. As the family enjoyed their beach day, the rings slipped her mind. When they packed up, the rings fell out of the cupholder as the chair was carried away to the truck.

One big concern I had was that they had set up on the hard-packed wet sand. If the rings fell there, they wouldn’t sink right away. They would sit on the surface until the tide came in and buried them—meaning anyone walking by could have easily spotted them and picked them up. ?

? Cruising the Grid
Gary and I hit the beach as planned. Gary started up in the dry sand, working his way toward the water. ?️ I started on the hard-packed wet sand, working toward the shore. If we didn’t find them here, our backup plan was to search their walking path to the “Horrible Stairs.”

The area was a little larger than I thought. Our grid search was yielding nothing but a few coins and the usual beach trash—pull tabs, foil, and bottle caps. ?️

As we neared the end of the section, Gary stopped so I could finish it off. He was about to move to the walking path. I didn’t have a good feeling about that path because the Beach Cleaning Rake had gone through the area just before we arrived. If the rings had been there, the machine could have dragged them anywhere.

I was starting to lose hope. We were running out of real estate, and the rings were still missing. ? I had maybe two or three passes left before I was completely done.
* First pass: Nothing.
* Second pass: Almost finished, and then…

? BANG!!! The Sound We Needed!
I received the exact target tone I had been waiting for! ? A loud, low tone, repeatable and just 0–2 inches below the surface. The Target Identification (TID) screen showed a low-conducting metal reading 18-19. Definitely platinum.

I yelled over, “Gary, I think I found them!” ?️

The target was so loud I knew it wasn’t deep. Once I used the pinpointer, I didn’t even need to dig. I could actually see the outline of the ring right through the wet sand. I brushed a little sand away with my finger, and there was Katie’s precious wedding set! ?✨

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Just one more pass and we would have walked away. This is exactly why we never break a grid search. You just never know where a lost ring will be.

? The Big Surprise
I took a video to surprise Katie. I started the video making it look like an unsuccessful search, only to quickly pan over to Gary with a massive smile, holding up the rings!

? “Check out the video Reel on our page to see the exact moment we surprised her!!!

Within a couple of minutes, Katie called us. Hearing the pure excitement in her voice was the absolute best. She told me she and her husband Klayton were just down the road and would be right there.

Within ten minutes they arrived. Just watching her walk down the street was incredibly rewarding—you could see the “bounce” in her step, and her smile said it all! ?

As Katie received her wedding rings back, the relief was unmistakable. The anxious voice from the night before was completely gone, and the rings went straight back onto her finger where they belonged. Life was good once again! ?

Gary and I truly have the best job in the world. We love what we do.
Remember: “If It Matters To You, It Matters To Us.” ??️‍♂️

Platinum and Diamond Wedding Ring Lost In The Goose Rocks Beach Sand, Found In Kennebunkport, Maine With A Metal Detector

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

✨ “That Was Like Magic!” ✨ How a Family’s Beach Day Was Saved by a Low Tone & a Helping Hand ?️❤️

As Cheryl and I were driving home from a successful ring recovery and return in York, Maine, my phone rang. ?

The caller identified herself as Molly. She had just lost her platinum wedding ring with diamonds! ??

Molly was at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport, Maine. She had taken her ring off and placed it in her lap while applying lotion to her children and herself. ??️

She forgot about the ring, stood up, and walked away toward the water. As she was walking, she suddenly remembered it! ??

Molly rushed back to her chair and began searching the sand, but the ring was gone. Her children and husband also searched, but came up empty. ?

Realizing they might be burying the ring deeper into the sand, they wisely stopped searching to prevent making it harder to find. It was then that I was called! ??

Cheryl and I were at a red light in Biddeford, Maine, when Molly phoned. ? I was literally at the intersection of Route 1 and the road that heads straight to Goose Rocks Beach! ?

I was closer to the beach right then than if I had gone home and had to drive back. So, I took a sharp right at the intersection and told Molly I would be there in less than 15 minutes! ⏱️?

Cheryl and I arrived in short order and were promptly met by Molly. She brought us down to where her family had set up on this 250th anniversary of our country’s independence. ???

When we arrived, Molly showed me where she had been sitting and where the family had been searching for her wedding ring in the sand. ?️?

After firing the metal detector up, I did a quick scan of the area… nothing. ❌

I moved inside the tent a little, and one of the children moved a chair out of the way, but the search still yielded nothing. Molly then showed me the path she had taken toward the water to the right of the canopy. ⛺

After 5 minutes, there was still no wedding ring. It was now time to start moving some of the beach bags under the canopy. ??

I asked Molly my usual rounds of questions:
? “Was it left back at the house?”
? “Have you checked the beach bags?”

Once I started back up, I searched the exact spot where a teal-colored beach bag had been sitting… ??️‍♂️

BANG!!! ?
A nice, loud, low tone rang out, reading 17-18-19 on the Target Identification (TID) screen! This TID was the absolute perfect number for a woman’s platinum wedding ring. ??

I asked one of Molly’s children if she would like to use the pinpointer to locate the target. She happily agreed, and after a quick tutorial, she found the spot! ??

As she dug in the sand with her hand, the ring wasn’t appearing. She dug deeper, and still nothing! ?

I said, “It can’t be that deep,” and moved in to dig deeper with my hand when Molly’s husband noted, “We did move some sand around.” ⏳?

As I dug further, I felt it… and started pulling it out of the sand! ?️?

Molly’s daughter excitedly cried out:
? “Mommy’s wedding ring!”

Her husband exclaimed:
? “That was down there deep!”

And her daughter added:
? “That was like magic!” ✨?‍♂️

Molly let out a massive, joyful laugh! ?❤️

She could finally relax with her beautiful wedding ring back safely on her finger. The stress and tension instantly lifted, replaced by smiles and laughter all around! ??

With the sun shining brightly, the family could get back to enjoying their beautiful beach day in Kennebunkport. ☀️?

This is why we do it. We love our jobs—it’s truly the best job in the world! ?❤️

Cheryl and I were just beaming after recovering our second wedding ring in the span of just two hours! To top it off, Gary had also recovered a wedding ring earlier in the morning. ??

Three wedding rings recovered in one day—a true “triple crown” or a “three-peat” in the ring-finding business! ???

As we walked off the beach, we couldn’t help but think about what a legendary day it had already been.

It was only 2:25 PM, and little did we know… our day wasn’t done just yet! ??

Gold Diamond Hoop Earring Lost In The Sand, Found With A Metal Detector In Old Orchard Beach, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? LOST GOLD & DIAMOND EARRING IN THE SAND! ?

I received a frantic text on Tuesday evening at 5:50 PM.

“Hello. I’m staying at the ‘On The Beach Motel’ in Old Orchard. I lost a gold hoop diamond earring… My husband gave them to me. He passed away two years ago, so this is more upsetting than it may have been otherwise. Is this something you can try to help with?” ?

I immediately replied:

“Hi, this is Dennis from The Ring Finders of Maine. I’m on the road but will be back in the area around 6:30 PM.

Do you still have the matching earring for a photo? Small gold earrings are very difficult to find.

Do you have a specific area on the beach to search, or do you think it’s in the water?”

She texted back:

“I did step into the water. We are out getting dinner right now, but we had a beach setup and I know exactly where it was.”

⏱️ The Race Against Time

I texted back right away:
“Ok, I want to search tonight as soon as you get back. My main concern is that another detectorist might find it, or the beach-cleaning machine will scoop it up at 5:00 AM. If it gets scooped by the machine, it will be gone forever.

”Claire later told me that the incredible office staff at the motel were the ones who told her to call me. ?

? An Emotional Plea

Through tears, Claire explained to Cheryl and me that this earring was a precious gift from her husband, who passed away two years ago.

She told us these earrings weren’t just jewelry; in a sense, they were her husband. She was physically sick not knowing where it was. ?

Her family had already torn the hotel room and the car apart. They even searched the dry sand by hand. Nothing. It had to be on the beach.

My primary mission tonight was the dry sand. We had to clear the area before the 5:00 AM beach cleaner arrived.

Alright, let’s go find this earring! ??️?

The Search Begins
Claire took us down to the exact spot where her family had set up for the day. She knew the area perfectly.

Once the boundaries were set, I started grid searching parallel to the water, moving from south to north.

Claire continued searching the dry sand by eye, constantly staring out at the ocean waves, praying it wasn’t out in the deep water.

At the end of my first pass, I only found a crusty old dime.

?✨ A Shocking Low Tone

I turned around and headed south, keeping an eye on Claire as she watched the waves.

Suddenly, a loud, low tone blasted through my headphones! ?J

Just what I was hoping to hear.

The Target Identification (TID) read a solid 07. That is exactly in the small gold range.I carefully brushed the sand away, and there it was: the glittering gold earring! ✨

? The Setup & Surprise

Claire hadn’t noticed me finding the earring because she was still looking out toward the ocean.

I glanced over at Cheryl and mouthed, “I’ve got it, get video!” ?

With Cheryl’s video rolling, I pretended to continue searching as I walked closer to Claire.”

Can you point to exactly where you were standing in the water?”
I asked her.

As she turned toward the ocean and pointed, I held the earring up right in front of me, waiting for her to turn back around.

? The Floodgates Open

It worked perfectly!

When Claire turned back to face me, she saw her beloved earring dangling right in front of her. The floodgates completely opened.?❤️

She walked slowly toward me, crying tears of pure happiness and relief.

As I placed the earring back into her hand, she gasped, “I can’t believe it. I really can’t believe you found it.”

She wrapped me in a massive hug, the happy tears still rolling down her face.

What an emotional return! She finally had both of her precious earrings back together. ?‍❤️‍?

Just then, her son Mickey walked onto the beach.

Claire proudly yelled to him, “He found it! Can you believe it?!

“Mickey broke into a huge smile and said, “You’ve got to be kidding me!”

?Claire then admitted to me, “I almost didn’t call you. I thought it was gone forever.” Thankfully, she did!

? The Best Job in the World

As Cheryl and I walked off the beach, Claire was proudly telling everyone around her that she got her earring back. She had the biggest smile on her face.

I truly have the best job in the world. I love my job!

Gold Wedding Ring Lost In The Soil, Found With A Metal Detector, Wells, Maine

  • from Old Orchard Beach (Maine, United States)

? EMOTIONAL RECOVERY! ? Another Ring Back Where It Belongs! ?✨

The Ring Finders of Maine, With Recovery and Return #232

While Cheryl and I were at a Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees game in Boston, Gary Hill was watching the store back here in Maine. ⚾️

The previous day, I had received a text from Mary:
“Hi. My name is Mary. We live in Wells Maine. My husband lost his wedding ring while digging a patio this weekend. Are you available tomorrow? I’ve seen you on Facebook, and we met one time at Drake’s Island Beach.” ?️

My reply:
“Hi Mary, I am not available tomorrow. I am going to Boston for a Red Sox game. I do have Gary Hill covering for me if you would like him to search tomorrow. Otherwise, I could come Sunday morning. Is he sure he was wearing the ring while working on the patio? Has the area where he was digging been filled back in? My concern is that the ring may have been buried too deep for our detectors.” ?

Mary’s reply:
“We have only dug it out. We dumped a lot of dirt and grass in the woods behind our house; I’m guessing it would be there. But our plan is to finish the patio tomorrow, so if you could give me Gary’s number, I would appreciate it. Enjoy the Sox!”

I gave Gary’s contact information to Mary, and once they talked, they made plans to meet the next morning at 8:00 AM. ⏱️

Gary arrived right on time, and he brought along a special helper—his 8-year-old grandson, Rowan, who was visiting his grandparents from South Carolina! ?

Mary and her husband, Paul, showed Gary the two locations where they thought the gold wedding ring might be: the patio excavation site and the dirt pile in the woods. ?

Everyone figured the woods was the most likely spot, but Gary decided to sweep the patio site first just to rule it out. It was only about a 15’ x 15’ area, and Gary figured it would take just 10 minutes.

THEN, THE DETECTOR WENT OFF… ??

Just 5 minutes into the search, Gary got his first target! Rowan was on duty as the official pinpointer operator today. ?

As Rowan stuck the pinpointer into the soil, he pulled out a piece of aluminum.

But as any good metal detectorist knows, you always check the hole twice! Gary told Rowan to recheck the area. Rowan placed the pinpointer back in the dirt, and it went off again! There was another target hiding right underneath! ?

As Rowan carefully brushed away the dirt, a glint of gold caught their eyes. It was a gold wedding ring—Paul’s ring! ?✨

INCREDIBLE!!! Gary and Rowan needed less than 5 minutes to solve the mystery.
TEARS OF RELIEF ?❤️

When Paul saw his ring, his eyes immediately filled with tears. ?

That ring meant the world to him, and he truly believed it was gone forever. The sudden wave of relief was overwhelming. Paul and Mary wrapped Gary and Rowan in huge hugs, and the stress completely melted away.

Another ring back on the finger where it belongs! ?

A huge congratulations to 8-year-old Rowan on his amazing work today. He did an outstanding job and has officially earned his title as a “Ring Finder!” ??
