Bachelorette Celebration Takes an Unexpected Turn
What was supposed to be a fun day celebrating with friends quickly became a stressful one for Emily.
While enjoying her bachelorette party at the lake, Emily jumped off the dock for a swim. As soon as she hit the water, she felt something wasn’t right—her large engagement ring had slipped off her finger and disappeared into the lake.
After receiving a couple
calls about the lost ring, we headed to the location expecting it to be a fairly straightforward recovery. A ring lost beside a dock in shallow water usually doesn’t take long to find.
We couldn’t have been more wrong.
The bottom of the lake was covered with nearly a foot of soft muck and silt. Every movement stirred up the bottom, reducing visibility to absolutely nothing. The ring had sunk deep into the soft lakebed, making the search much more difficult than we had anticipated.
For nearly two hours, we worked slowly and methodically with our underwater metal detectors, digging through the thick mud one signal at a time.
Finally, the detector gave us the signal we had been hoping for.
Buried deep beneath the muck was Emily’s engagement ring.
The smiles, hugs, and happy tears from Emily and her friends made every minute of the challenging search worthwhile. Recoveries like this are a great reminder that even when conditions seem impossible, patience, persistence, and the right equipment can make all the difference.
Congratulations, Emily! We’re so happy your engagement ring is back where it belongs, and we hope the rest of your bachelorette celebration was filled with nothing but great memories.
