Lost Ring Barefoot Beach, Florida

  • from Vanderbilt Beach (Florida, United States)

Losing a valuable ring at the beach can feel hopeless—especially when it disappears in deep Gulf water. Fortunately, professional lost ring recovery in Southwest Florida can sometimes make the impossible possible.

While metal detecting at Barefoot Beach near Bonita Springs, Florida, I was searching

in chest-deep water when I received a strong, solid signal.

The Gulf is constantly moving sand and targets, so I worked slowly, keeping my coil steady and concentrating on areas where the current had disturbed the bottom.

A Strong Signal in Chest-Deep Water

After pinpointing the target, I positioned my XTREME titanium scoop behind the coil. Two scoops down, I had the target.

I shook the sand from the scoop until only shells remained. As I worked through them, I suddenly felt something cold and heavy in my hand.

It wasn’t fishing tackle or another piece of beach debris.

It was a beautiful 3-carat diamond ring made of 18K gold and platinum.

Even more importantly, the inside of the ring contained distinctive inscriptions that could potentially help identify its owner.

Finding the Owner of the Lost Diamond Ring

Once I realized what I had found, the search changed from finding a target to finding the person who lost it.

I carefully photographed the ring and posted information in local lost-and-found and beach community groups. I intentionally did not disclose the inscriptions. Anyone claiming the ring would need to correctly describe those markings and other identifying details.

Within a day, I received a message from the owner.

They correctly identified the inscriptions and confirmed the ring’s design.

The ring was going home.
