Kati and Mitchell were sitting in their truck on a beach in Wilmington, NC.  While taking in the view off the Atlantic ocean, Kati’s hand movement resulted in her losing not only her engagement ring but also wedding band.  Days later, I was contacted and was able to meet her husband Mitchell to go back to the site of loss.  A short search of the area and the very first target produced her wedding band.  A thorough  search afterwards unfortunately did not produce the engagement ring.   Her husband did state that even though the engagement ring cost more the wedding ring held much more importance.

While out on a random hunt at Atlantic Beach, NC, I found a, University of North Carolina, class ring. With some online searching I was able to locate the name inscribed on the inside of the ring. Later, I made contact with Carson and arranged a return in the same day!  Carson informed me in her message that she had lost her ring 6 months ago.  She also mentioned her mother was very surprised and happy.

Chris contacted me yesterday evening stating that he had removed his wedding ring to swim along the Crystal Coast.  He placed the ring in the pocket of a tent they had set up for the day.  While packing up to leave, the tent was shaken to remove the clinging sand.  It was just a short while later Chris noticed the ring had gone missing.  Just after getting Chris’s message I called and explained I would head that way very soon.  We arrived at the beach and the search began in the darkness.  It was only a few minutes and a constant tone rang up on my metal detector.  The ring was quickly returned!  I forgot to take a picture of Chris with his ring and requested a picture the next day which he quickly obliged.

Marking The Spot Was A Huge Help

John & Jen were vacationing at Wrightsville Beach, NC.  While John was playing with his son in the water, he noticed his wedding ring had come off in waste deep water.  Wisely, John and his young son dug a trench in the sand pointing to the area they were standing when the ring was lost.  Jen notified me shortly afterwards.  As you can see in the picture, the line on the right side is the line John & his son made and the line on the left is where I drug my sand scoop to the first target, John’s wedding Ring!

While attending a wedding reception for a family member I received a call from Drew.  He explained he lost his ring on the beach in Surf City, NC.  He said it was about 30 minutes before finding my name on The Ring Finders.  I tried to keep him posted on my location as I headed home to get my equipment and change clothes.  I arrived about 1 hour before low tide and 2 hours before sunset.  I explained to Drew to try to remember the general area as best as possible and try to mark it with a landmark.  This was a big help as he guided me almost right to the ring after I searched a few areas out of range of where he was at the time of loss.  Here is Drew’s explanation:

“During a family vacation on Topsail Island (going on 35+ years for my in-laws) I lost my wedding band throwing around a football at high tide.  We thought there was NO WAY we’d find the ring in the water / sand.  Enter Steven Ray: he left a wedding reception to come to our location with his metal detecting gear, and within 30 minutes had discovered the ring.  All of my family and friends gave him a standing ovation, and my wife and I are very grateful that he was able to recover a sentimental ring (it was my late father’s wedding band as well).  Thank you Steven”

Evan was tossing a ball to a friend while standing in chest deep water.  It was near high tide as she stood in North Carolina’s Intracoastal Waterway (ICW).  Evan informed me that during one of the throws, her class ring went flying off her finger as she let go of the ball.  I was called the next morning and loaded my equipment and headed her way.  It was a beautiful day when I started my hunt next to the Atlantic Beach Bridge.  I was able to recover her ring during my second pass of an area while her mother sat on the beach and watched.  It always brings a smile to my face to see their expressions after a successful ring recovery.

Evan stated she had found out about my service during an online search for renting a metal detector.

Laevelle had the perfect sun setting evening planned as he and his girlfriend sat along the Pine Knolls, NC coastline.  While his girlfriend, Keneicia, took a few steps away, Laevelle placed an engagement ring into a artificial clam and set it in the sand.  His plan was to call her over to check out the clam and when she opened it to find the ring, he would then propose.  Unfortunately, before she could get to the clam, a large wave crashed the shoreline spilling the clam and covering the ring with sand.  Laevelle had lost all hope of ever seeing the ring again.  Keneicia did some research on you phone and found The Ring Finders!  She sent me an email request and after a brief phone call,  we met the next morning at 1st light to begin the search!   After about an hour of searching, the couple decided to go get breakfast while I continued my quest.  At about the time they left the parking lot the ring was recovered in the wet sand.  They quickly turned around and headed back!  It truly was a great feeling knowing they were back on track with their plans and relieved the ring was recovered.  As of published date, no wedding date has yet been set.

Parker explains this situation very well:

“On August 18th I lost my ring at Atlantic Beach. I am a Youth Pastor in Rocky Mount, NC and took a beach day with the youth group. While throwing football with some of the kids I looked down to my great displeasure that my wedding ring had slipped off my finger. You would be surprised how many things at the beach look like a wedding ring! After much looking and frustration I left a defeated man. However Steven Ray, found it with a metal detector in ankle deep water 7 inches under the sand 4 days after I lost it! So here I am at the beach on August 22nd, way too late picking my wedding ring. Whatever you are going through that seems all a loss remember, there is a God who can do exceedingly abundantly more than we could ask or imagine. PS, guys get your ring sized correctly when you get married. #praiseGod

Chase called me this morning to give me a chance for an early morning swim.  His wedding band had fallen off the evening before and after trying to sift through the oyster shells and black silt under the dock Chase called off the hunt.  I knew the area where he had lost his ring and was on my was as soon as possible.  I must admit that I was a bit surprised at how deep the water under the dock was as it was every bit of 5 foot deep as I started the quest.  After pulling up a can tab, I found another strong signal.   It took a few more scoops in the murky water and I was quite pleased to find Chase’s ring laying in my scoop!

Chase’s story:

My wife and I were on our vacation having a great time until my ring slipped off my finger and splashed under the pier.  I had the worst feeling in my stomach not knowing if I’d ever see the ring again.  I started searching the internet and found. Theringfinders.com. I thought what are the chances I could find a guy in Emerald Isle NC.  Then popped up Steven Ray.  Steven answered the phone at 7:30 AM and found my ring before 8:30 AM.  I was so relived that Steve answered the phone and found my ring.
