Engagement Ring Found “With A Little Bonus”

  • from Kingston (Ontario, Canada)

On May 20th, 2023, at approximately 9:45 AM I received a text from a very distraught Erin, Erin had lost her engagement ring while chasing after her son in her own backyard.

I Immediately went over to the house, I arrived around 10:30 AM and proceeded in asking Erin to explain to me what happened?, and to show me exactly where she thought she had lost her ring. It wasn’t a very large property, and Erin was obviously preoccupied with her 2-year-old boy but managed to point to show me the general area of where she thought she had lost her ring.

I took out my legend metal detector turned it on and preceded sweeping the area slowly, the area was so trashy and signals were coming from every direction I knew I had no choice, if I were going to have any chance at all, I would need to Put the machine on gold mode and discriminate all the numbers from 30 to 60 and from 1 to 10 on the machine, I figured if I did one sweep over The entire property with those settings, it would put me in the general area to where I have normally found gold with my Legend in the past,

I do not like discriminating VDI numbers like this because gold can literally come up as so many different numbers on any machine however for the most part It is pretty safe to say that on the Legend, gold is likely to come up between the numbers 15 to 28. Anyway, setting up my machine like this, gave me a starting point anyway. If this didn’t work then I would go over the area again using all metal mode. The problem was with so many signals coming at me at once if I had put the machine to all metal mode I may be there for days before finding the ring.

I started off by searching the area where Erin had pointed out. , unfortunately I didn’t get a single hit on my legend. As I looked over my shoulder on the nearby gravel driveway something shiny hit my eye. As I walked over to the object, I could see it was ring shaped. I decided to swing my detector over the ring and immediately I got a signal with a VDI number of 16. I picked up the ring and took it over to Erin and confidently showed her that I had found her ring.

Now Erin was very excited for me to have found this ring as indeed it was hers, however, she explained to me that this was another ring that she didn’t know she had even lost yet, lol and that the original engagement ring I was there for in the first place was yet to be found.

She explained to me that the engagement ring had an Opal and diamonds in it. Yet the ring I just found had no stones at all.

I switched gears and decided to go into the backyard where the house had a play structure for her son. I quickly asked Erin if she thought it at all possible that maybe she was playing with her son on or around the play structure before she noticed the ring was missing? She said “ it was definitely possible”

I did a quick sweep with my detector around the play structure and right at the bottom of the slide my machine started making a beep and the VDI number red 18 on the screen. My heart skipped a beat. This is a great number and solid sound on the detector. It’s exactly what I was looking for.

At the bottom of the slide, it was grassy, so I took out my pin pointer, waved it over the area at the bottom of the slide, and immediately I got a hit with my pinpointer.

As I looked in the grass, I could see something shiny. I carefully parted the grass area and found a white gold with six small diamonds and a fairly large Opal stone in the middle,

I called Erin over to have a look and confirm that this time I had in-fact found the proper ring this time. Erin screamed with joy as she placed the ring back on her finger and immediately called her husband to tell him the good news that the ring had been found.

Thank you, Erin, for calling and using my services and allowing me to be the one to put a beautiful smile back on your face, (even if you don’t want to be photographed ha ha ha) I wish you and your future husband all the best in the near future when you start your new lives together.

Myself on the other hand, I don’t mind sharing the smile I had when I was able to hand these 2 rings back to you. Even if you did think only 1 of them were missing. Lol.
