I got an urgent text this afternoon from Mike who had been having fun on the beach while camping in Carpinteria. He had been engaged in playing catch with a football when his ring became dislodged after trying to catch a pass. It hit on that one in a million place that literally stripped his finger of his ring. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was standing but we had a 20×20 area to begin the search so I got after it. Unfortunately the area was littered with bottle caps, pull tabs and melted pieces of aluminum. It was a mess of sounds and while I knew he lost his ring here I couldn’t cherry pick the perfect tone as there were so much metal trash that I couldn’t risk it being masked by other metal so i had to dig everything.

After about 40 minutes we were all beginning to wonder and question where this ring was. I had dug about 40 targets and I decided to move into a new area and after about a minute I got a great 50-51 tone on my Minelab Manticore. I pushed my CKG scoop into the sand and after a few shakes I looked and saw the ring! This was a way more extensive search than I thought it would be but in the end DaveTheRingFinder won the day again!
