On November 4 approximately 6pm I received a call from Steve, who was understandably concerned after losing his 10K yellow gold company service ring while working in the field servicing irrigation equipment.
Steve told me that the ring most likely slipped off while he was removing his work gloves. Unfortunately, he didn’t realize it was missing until about an hour later. As soon as he noticed, he returned to the area where he had been working and began searching.
Over the next while, Steve thoroughly checked the area and even used a rake to try and uncover the ring. Despite his best efforts, there was no sign of it. Knowing the ring was important to him, he wasn’t ready to give up.
Steve then went online looking for a metal detector rental service and my ring recovery business appeared in his search results. He contacted me, described what had happened, and provided details about the location and circumstances surrounding the loss.
The fact that Steve had a good idea where the ring had likely come off was a huge advantage. I headed out to the site the next afternoon, and after a brief discussion, began a systematic search of the area using specialized metal-detecting equipment.
It didn’t take long before I received a promising signal. Within 30 minutes of arriving, I recovered Steve’s missing 10K yellow gold company service ring and had it back on his finger.
Seeing the relief on someone’s face when a valued item is recovered never gets old. What began as a frustrating day for Steve ended with a successful recovery and a ring safely returned to its owner.
