Introduction & Found Dog Tag

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Hello all,

My name is Earl Roberts… this is my first RingFinders blog.

I have always had in interest in finding lost items. Hidden caches, lost treasure, or a dropped class ring all draw me in. I don’t seek to get rich, I seek to learn, discover and of course find. I respect history and mother nature and consider each when searching. I have metal detected on and off over the last 2 decades, I also tried my hand at prospecting in the mountains of California . About 3 years ago, I got serious about metal detecting and have been lucky enough to work on some pretty cool projects sense then.

As this site is dedicated to reuniting people with their lost item… I will begin with an item I found about 18 months ago while metal detecting a beach in Okinawa, Japan. It was a pretty cool day when, in addition to a few other items, I found a Vietnam era dog tag. The dog tag belongs to T. M. Redden who enlisted in the Marine Corps in the late 60’s (best determination by the service #). I have yet to find Mr. Redden (or his family) but I would love to return his dog tag to him. If anyone out there has any helpful information – please contact me.
