Lost Gold Wedding Ring Found in Sorrento, Louisiana — A Family Heirloom Returned

  • from New Orleans (Louisiana, United States)

On Sunday evening, I received a message from Jason in Sorrento, Louisiana. He had lost his 14-karat gold wedding band while working on his boat earlier that day, and he had spent most of the day trying to find it.

This ring carried much more than monetary value. It had belonged to his great-uncle, a Marine who served in World War II and the Korean War. Jason wore it as his wedding ring, making it both a symbol of his marriage and a treasured connection to his family.

During the boat maintenance, a grease gun had malfunctioned. Jason suspected the missing ring was covered in grease, making it even harder to spot in the grass. He searched for hours, bought a metal detector, and even waited until dark to try looking with a bright light. Nothing had worked.

Unsure what else to do, he turned to ChatGPT and asked whether anyone helped people find lost rings. That search led him to me through The Ring Finders.

After confirming the ring had been lost on land, I arranged to come to Sorrento the following morning. On Monday, I made the trip out and searched the area. I was able to locate the missing gold band and return it to the family within about 20 minutes

Recoveries like this are why I enjoy doing this work. A ring can hold generations of memories, and helping return that connection to someone is incredibly rewarding. I’m glad Jason reached out and that his great-uncle’s ring is back where it belongs.

My name is Anthony Cuccia, and I help recover lost rings and jewelry through The Ring Finders. If you’ve lost something in grass, a yard, or another outdoor area, send me a text with the location and a description of what happened.

I work on a “pay what you feel it’s worth” basis, with no fixed search fee or fuel surcharge. Text is the best way to reach me and helps me understand your situation.

Even if you’ve already searched or tried a metal detector yourself, there may still be a chance to recover it.
