Lucky Horseshoe- Lost Diamond Pendant FOUND in Morongo Valley, CA!

  • from Corona (California, United States)

Destin messaged me that his wife lost a sentimental gold pendant in their yard and could I help. He added it was lost last month.
We scheduled a day and I went out to their house in Morongo Valley to see if I could locate it. Naturally, we were in the midst of a crazy heat wave, with that day being the hottest.

Destin said it was lost by a Creosote bush that was blooming its bright yellow flowers, which also were on the ground. This made finding a small gold pendant extremely difficult for them. He pointed out a side yard where they also were working.
They were in the process of trimming the Creosote bush and they believe a branch caught the gold chain his wife was wearing with the pendant and it broke the chain. They found the chain but couldn’t find the pendant.

I started in the side yard and searched to no avail. I then took the search to the area by the Creosote bush. My first find, a horseshoe…a sign of good luck. My detector was picking up targets that were deep, but not the pendant. I decided to use my pinpointer to check the soft dirt. It sounded off, with an added vibration. I moved some dirt and saw a glint of gold. But it was the beautiful diamond that was the real eye catcher! That would indeed add to the sentimentality.
I had Destin come out of the house. As I do when finding the item, I showed him the horseshoe, asking if the pendant looked like that? He laughed and said, “A horseshoe?”. I said horseshoes are a sign of good luck. I then handed him the diamond pendant. He was extremely thankful! Unfortunately, his wife was not home at the time, but I can only imagine her excitement.
