Diamond ring found in Toronto.!!!

Dan called me this morning about his wife Namita’s lost diamond wedding ring.

Dan told me that Namita had placed the ring in her pants pocket to wash her hands and then forgot about the ring.
About an hour later, she put a few things in her pocket and took their dog for a walk around a small, local park and then continued around the block and back home.

When Namita got back home, she realized her ring was missing and her and Dan went out and retraced her steps in hopes of spotting the ring.

When they couldn’t locate the lost ring, Dan found me online and called with the story.

I was really busy today with other things but decided to cancel a few things and help them out as the ring was in a very public area and could potentially be spotted by anyone around the park.

I met Dan and Namita about a half hour later at the park and they walked me through the entire route Namita walked as I scanned the grass beside the sidewalks around the park and around the block.

We were almost back to their house when two younger gentlemen and a young lady approached us and asked why I was using a metal detector.

Namita said that I was helping them try and find her ring she had lost and then one of the young men reached into his pocket, pulled out a diamond ring and said “is this the one ..??”

Sure enough, it was Namita’s ring and the gentleman said that he had found it earlier near their residence on a concrete pathway and put it in his pocket.

He then said he knew it seemed like an important ring and he was glad that he had spotted us metal detecting.

We were all a bit stunned at the timing of all this and the fact that this young man was good enough to return this beautiful ring is miraculous.

There are still plenty of good people on this earth and I was very happy I got to witness this for myself today. What a beautiful act of kindness.

I’ve said it a million times, I don’t care how we find these rings as long as they get found.

What an amazing experience today that I won’t forget for a long time.

Dan then gave me an extremely generous reward for my efforts even though I wasn’t the one to find the ring. Thank you Dan.

I’m so happy this great young couple have their ring back and enjoy it for years to come.

Eric called me this morning about his lost wedding band.

Eric told me that he had been doing a little bit of gardening and bagging leaves a few days ago and when he was finished he noticed his ring was missing.

After hearing the story I gulped the rest of my coffee and jumped in the car.
When I arrived at Eric’s home he ran me through where he had been working in the yard and showed me the leaf bags and yard waste bins where the ring could be hiding.

Eric told me that the wedding band was very special to him as he and his wife took a short jewelry making course and made their matching wedding bands out of silver during the course.

Eric went back into the house and I began to search.

After eliminating the gardens where Eric was working I moved over to the leaf bags.
I grabbed the first leaf bag and laid it on its side.
As I scanned around the bag I got a great signal in my headphones.

After dumping the leaves out onto the lawn I scanned again and located the signal. After pinpointing the area and moving a few leaves, there was Eric’s handmade wedding band.

I sent Eric a text and told him the good news.
When he came back outside , I showed him where the ring was and took a few pics.

We chatted for a few minutes and I was on my way.

Nice to meet you today Eric and glad I could help out.

Take care,

Pearl called me last night about her lost “spinner” ring.

Pearl was picking up leaves around the house and felt her ring slip off. She tried for about an hour to find it in the leaves but there are just too many on the ground at this time of year.

I was able to meet Pearl this morning and she ran me through exactly what had happened the night before.

I grabbed my gear and after finding about 10 pieces of tinfoil under the leaves I got the signal I was waiting for. No doubt it was her ring.

After pinpointing the area and moving some leaves aside, there was Pearl’s ring.

We took a few pics and chatted for a bit at a safe covid distance and I was on my way.

Nice to meet you today Pearl and really happy I was able to help out.

Lost ring found downtown Toronto.!

Felicity called me yesterday afternoon about her lost silver ring.

She had just returned home from grocery shopping and was carrying several bags towards her door at the back of her house.

She stopped for a second to place the bags down onto a small stone wall to rest for a minute and as she tried to pull her hand away from one of the bags, her hand was caught up in one of the shopping bag handles and as she jerked her hand free, she felt her ring fly off.
There are a few small gardens in the backyard and she frantically searched through them all but could not locate her ring.

After getting the call from Felicity I gathered my gear and was on my way to meet her in downtown Toronto.

I arrived at Felicity’s 30 minutes later and she ran me through the story again.
I began to search the small gardens around where she had placed the bags down and had to spend quite a bit of time checking in and around small hedges in the gardens.
Finally, after about an hour of searching, I ran my detector up the sides of a large, cactus like plant and briefly got a nice signal that suddenly vanished. I checked around the base of the plant and again got that nice signal. Sure enough it was Felicity’s ring and it appeared that the ring had been caught up in the plant and I knocked it out when I scanned up the sides of it.

I went and got Felicity to show her where her ring had been hiding and she was overwhelmed her ring had been found.

After getting a few photos and chatting for a minute I was on my way.

Really happy I could help out Felicity.

I had a call from Lindsay yesterday about his lost wedding band that he lost over two weeks ago.

Lindsay told me that he had been gathering leaves out of his pool’s skimmer basket and threw them over a fence in the backyard.
As he threw the leaves, he felt his wedding band slip off and heard the ring hit something.

Well, Lindsay and his family scoured the area behind the fence in the backyard and around the pool area for days with no luck.

I was able to meet up with Lindsay at his home this morning and had him show me exactly what had happened the day he lost his ring.

After gathering my gear, I began the search in the area on the other side of the fence and could clearly see where he and his family had trampled all over the area in search of the ring.
After searching for an hour, I was convinced it was not on that side of the fence although it seemed the most likely area where the ring flew off.

I went and got Lindsay and he took me into the pool area.
After shaking out hedges near the top of the fence I grabbed my gear again and began the search along the fence in the pool area.
After about two minutes I got the signal we were waiting for.
I grabbed my pinpointer and sure enough, there was Lindsay’s wedding band near the fence about two feet from the pool skimmer basket.

The ring obviously flew off during his downswing and landed right beside where he was standing.

I went and got Lindsay and showed him where his ring had been been hiding for the last couple of weeks.

After getting some photos and chatting for a bit I was on my way.

Great to meet you today Lindsay and I’m really happy I was able to help you out.

I had a call from Michael last night about his lost wedding band.

Michael said he was doing a bit of gardening on his front lawn and when he was finished noticed that he was no longer wearing his wedding band.
He figured it must have slipped off his finger while he was planting boxwood shrubs or spreading dirt around with his bare hands or worse, at a pumpkin patch he and his family had visited earlier that day.

I was able to meet Michael this morning at his home and he again told me what had happened and showed me exactly what he was doing in the garden.

I got out my gear and started the search. After finding some old rusty screws and a bolt, there weren’t any signals left unless the ring had slipped off at the bottom of one of the holes he made to accommodate the boxwood shrubs.

Michael then pulled up all the freshly planted shrubs and I started to search in the holes that were at least 16” deep.

On the fifth hole, I got the signal we were waiting for.
After getting my pinpointer, I immediately felt the ring at the bottom of the hole.

I told Michael we had found his ring and he was amazed it was found.

I took some pics and we chatted for a few minutes.

It turns out, Michael is co-owner of a craft brewery in Toronto, Junction Craft Brewery.
Luckily for me, Michael gifted me a few of his beers and I’m sure I’ll sample one tonight.

Thank you Michael

Happy I could help out today and thanks again for the beers.

A few days ago I had a call from Dave about his father’s lost wedding band.

IMG_6212.JPG

Dave told me that his father was cleaning up the backyard two weekends ago and when he was finished the yardwork, he noticed that he was no longer wearing his ring.

Everyone helped look for the ring for a few days without any luck and then Dave’s father went on holiday until this afternoon.

One of the fears was that Dave’s father had bagged some leaves and had already thrown them out in the garbage. We were all hoping the ring wasn’t in that bag.

Dave was going to have me look for the ring and hopefully find it so he could surprise his father with the ring when he got back from holiday.

I was able to meet with Dave this morning at his father’s house and Dave gave me the hot zones where the ring may have been potentially lost that day.

I first searched the side yard of the house and then the backyard and finally made my way to the front garden searching for the ring. Still, without any luck I then began to grid search the front lawn when all of a sudden Dave steps out of the open garage, holding up his father’s ring.

I asked him where he found it and he said it was in his father’s work gloves in the garage.

IMG_6213.JPG

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I don’t care how a ring is found as long as it gets found.

Great job Dave..!!!!

I’m sure your father is going to be happy upon his return home .!!!

Nice to meet you today Dave and I’m really happy your Dad will get his ring back.

Gold Wedding Band Found.! Toronto.

Jon called me late last night about his lost white gold wedding band.

IMG_6200.JPG

Yesterday afternoon, Jon was walking on Cherry Beach in Toronto with his two young daughters and at one point, his daughter holding his left hand tried to pull him in another direction and he immediately felt something different about his hand. He stopped walking and noticed his wedding band was missing. After looking for his ring for about thirty minutes, Jon had to give up and get his daughters home.

Jon found me online after a quick search and I was able to meet him at Cherry Beach first thing this morning.

After showing me what had happened yesterday, Jon started to help me draw grid lines in the sand.

I had just finished my first row and then started on the next one and almost immediately got a great signal.

IMG_6198.JPG

I pinpointed the target and removed about three inches of sand and sure enough, there was Jon’s wedding band. Either Jon or someone else yesterday stepped on the ring to push it that deep.

After showing Jon where the ring had been hiding, I took a few photos and we were on our way.

Great to meet you today Jon.!!
Happy I was able to help you out.

Lost Engagement Ring Found.!! Toronto

from North York (Ontario, Canada)
Contact: 1-905-492-2133

I had a call early this afternoon from Dinie about her lost engagement ring.

Dinie and her family are from Brooklyn, NY and are in Toronto visiting with some relatives.

So, last Wednesday, the family is sitting on the back deck of the relative’s home and Dinie was sitting in a deck chair and removed her wedding rings and placed them on her lap. She then went to put them back on her finger moments later and was now missing her engagement ring. She had no idea what could have happened to it.

20140728-193628-70588271.jpg

They all searched in the cracks of the deck, the ground below the deck and and all around the deck but still could not locate her ring.

They then raked all the grass around the deck hoping to reveal the ring and still nothing.

I was able to meet Dinie today at her relative’s home in Toronto and got a few more details.

After searching for around five minutes with no luck, I went up onto the deck and had her recreate exactly what had happened.

I went back down into the yard and started to expand my search around the deck and got a great signal pretty far away from the deck and thought it would be impossible for the ring to be this far from the deck merely by having it slip off her lap.

Anyway, I pinpointed the area and moved some grass aside and sure enough it was Dinie’s beautiful engagement ring.

20140728-193716-70636811.jpg

20140728-193756-70676909.jpg

The only thing that makes sense is, is that the ring must have be raked further away from the deck last week while they were searching.

Glad I was able to help out today and you can return home with your ring.

Great to meet you today .!!
Have a safe trip home.

Take care,

Mark Ellis
