I received a call from a gentleman who had lost his white gold wedding ring in the surf while playing with his kids while on vacation in Ocean City. He stated that he lost the ring the day before and actually saw it fall off his finger but couldn’t grab it before it disappeared into the sand & waves. Quickly thinking he took some quick notes as to nearby landmarks, time of day and depth of water where the loss had taken place and drew a detailed map in hopes of returning and finding the ring. Arriving onsite at low tide we reviewed the map and setup a search area. I started my grid pattern and after digging a few coins and trash items but no ring I began to get a bit concerned but continued on. Then his brother in-law arrived and stated he felt we were off a little in our search area so I started working my way towards the other area. Within a few grid searches I received a nice signal on my detector and called them over saying “This sounds good and is probably your ring” I scooped out some sand and brushed the pile with my foot and out rolled his ring Lol! They were amazed not only that I found it but I called it! An instant sense of relief had come to the owners face as it was putting a real damper on the family vacation and now could go show his family that we found it. Back to having a great time as planned. Another great recovery! Recovery # 109
I received a call from Mark who explained that he had lost his platinum wedding band on the beach a few days before his wedding anniversary which was inscribed in the ring. He stated that he had taken the ring off and put it in the cup holder of his chair so he could go swimming and not lose it,well that didn’t workout to well as he noticed it was gone when he relocated his chair as the tide was coming in. After getting the beach location and time of day of the lose I was able to get the location the following morning. After a couple hours of searching with nothing but coins and trash in my pouch I decided to move closer to the water even though he stated he was not too far down and within a few minutes I received a good solid signal from my metal detector. Scooping up some sand and washing it out I could see the ring in my scoop! looking closer I could see the inscribed wedding date 7-25-08 which was also the date at which I found it 7-25-17! moments later I called Mark who was celebrating his anniversary nearby in Atlantic city with his wife. He was so happy to hear the great news but his wife was even happier and crying and so thankful for my help. We met the following week and Mark was very happy to have his wedding ring back on his finger! Another Great Recovery #99!
I received an email from Jon asking for my help recovering his lost wedding ring. He explained that he had lost it on a beach on the 4th of July nearly 2 weeks ago when he folded up his beach chair. He had taken the ring off to go swimming and put the ring in the chairs cup holder but forgot when they were leaving and folded the chair up and losing his ring in the sand. After speaking with him on the phone he stated that this was a bay beach and not a lot of traffic or ocean waves were there so maybe it would be there? I agreed it was definitely worth a shot and met his wife at the beach a few days later. Once I arrived at the beach I definitely was optimistic as there were only a few people on this tucked away little piece of paradise beach. As his wife and kids set up their beach blanket I staked out they area with some flags and began my search for his white gold wedding band. The kids enjoyed tagging along for the search and were having fun digging targets and even trying the metal detector. After searching for about 20 minutes I received a good solid gold signal at about 5 inches deep. I scooped up the sand and shook the scoop revealing the nice heaving gold wedding inside! Everyone was so excited and were amazed at it recovery. The 7 year old son stated “I am so happy for my Dad” Awe! An absolutely great family and recovery! #98 Lost ring recovery!!!
I was contacted by a young girl who had lost her engagement ring in the ocean while swimming 5 days earlier. Although she had posted it on Craigslist and others had gone out and searched for it her ring was still lost somewhere in the surf. After speaking with her and getting a description of the area where she lost it I told her I would go out that night to see what I can do? 5 days of being tossed around in the water, buried in the sand or possibly found by someone else metal detecting I wasn’t sure it be a successful hunt but you never know until you look. Arriving at the beach that night at low tide I started searching the area in front of the life guard stands in the wet sand. After about 30 minutes and digging a few coins I got a nice signal from my White’s metal detector scooped up the sand and as the water washed through the scoop I could see her ring laying in the bottom! I immediately took a picture and sent it to her and was right away granted with a very excited young lady who had been praying for my success in recovering her very special ring. We agreed to meet the following week on that beach on her birthday for the return. Happy birthday! Congratulations Jenny! Another great recovery!
