Men’s Watch Found and Returned Litchfield Beach, SC

  • from Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

The last weekend in April is always a fun time for me. Every year my boys, my father and myself get together for the annual “Fry Boys Weekend”.  This includes camping, fishing and enjoying each other’s company. We spent the weekend close to home as we adventured to Huntington Beach State Park near Litchfield Beach.

On Friday afternoon, my youngest (26) and I went to the beach with metal detectors to start our weekend adventure. The wind was blowing down the beach at 30 plus knots which had the area void of most people. Surely they did not feel like being sand blasted. I got a great signal and found a man’s Victorinox watch just under the surface of the sand. The watch was clean and still running. I felt this to mean it was a pretty recent drop. The only man and woman sitting on the beach saw me recover this treasure. The lady came over to me and told me that an older couple had come down to the beach and seemed to be looking for something in the sand. She felt like maybe they were looking for this watch. Not knowing who the couple were or what they might look like, I tried to think about how I might find them among 100 plus camp sites. I thought about posting a note near the door of the Men’s Room (No Jokes Please) to see if the rightful owner might see it. Sure enough on Saturday afternoon a young lady, Allison, approached our camp site and asked if I was the person that had found her fathers watch. After asking her to describe the watch, I was happy to return it to it’s rightful owner. Without a call I still like to return things as it is the right thing to do.
