Gary’s neighbor had a water break and nobody was home to turn off the water outside by the curb. Even if somebody was home, the water shut off valve cover was not exposed and so the water kept running for hours, destroying the foundation of the house until the utility company came to the rescue. By then it was too late as much of the basement and its contents were destroyed.
Fortunately, this tragic incident caused Gary to contact me, an experienced metal detectorist, in order to locate his water shut off valve cover, so that what happened to his neighbor would never happen to Gary!
