Cost For My Service

I work on a reward basis, which means you pay me what the item is worth to you, for me to come out and find your lost item.

I have a call-out fee of typically $30 (possibly more based on travel time) which will be incurred by you even if the item is not found, this basically covers my fuel expenses. We will discuss that fee and agree upon what it is when we first connect. My preferred payment methods are Cash or PayPal.

Search Types

I do a variety of different searches including dry land, beaches, and shallow water.

Search Locations

I live in Baltimore County, Maryland and I spend half my time in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I am able to cover a lot of ground.

In Maryland: arrangements can be made for searches within 30 miles of Towson.

In North Carolina: arrangements can be made for searches around Manteo, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Duck and Southern Shores.

Ken Askey's Bio

In 2019, I retired from spending decades in the pharmaceutical industry and it didn’t take long for me to discover my passion for detecting. The thrill of the “find” as well as this newfound way of connecting with people has helped cultivate my love for this hobby, which I have subsequently spent a lot of time fine-tuning my skills in. It would be my pleasure to serve you and work to recover your lost item. It brings me so much joy to see something valuable or sentimental reunited with its owner.

The “find” that was most rewarding and memorable for both myself, as well as the owner, was shared so much on Facebook that it was actually covered by a local NBC news affiliate in Washington, DC. I invite you to click the link below, where you can read the article and watch the short news story.
