Lost Wedding Ring Found and Returned on Maderia Beach. Florida

Jon, down from Michigan with his extended family for a warm spring break at Maderia Beach, headed out to the beach for a little game of catch. He was close to the waters edge and lunged to catch a pass and “BOOM” his wedding ring flew off and into the water. The whole family (I think he said there were 30 of them) searched and searched but could not find it. He then got the idea to rent a mental detector. When he told the shop owner about the problem, the owner sent him to Ring Finders. He contacted SRARC and we soon scheduled a hunt for the next morning at 7:00 am. Jim and Gerri Adams, Paul Hill and Mike Miller showed up and Jon was there waiting for them on the dark and foggy beach in front of his condo. He gave us the story and defined the hunt area for us and we went to work. Ten minutes later, Paul Hill got a good hit and in a few digs up came the ring. Jon was overjoyed and we were soon introduced to a few of his family members. There were plenty of smiles to go around with Jon and family and now their vacation can continue on a good note. The SRARC group wishes them all the best.

Paul Hill, Master Hunter three years in a row did it again. Congratulations Paul and thanks Jim, Gerri and Mike for helping out.

Wedding Ring lost found and returned Madeira Beach, Florida

Ryan and his wife Ashley were enjoying at sunny afternoon at the beach tossing around a Nerf Football when Ryan felt his ring fly off his finger.  They immediately went to try and rent a metal detector at a rent all type place, but were disappointed to find that all the rental places detectors were broken.  So they posted an add on Craigslist in hopes someone may spot the ring.  Howard Metts saw the post and gave Stan Flack a heads up to the post since it was near his home.  After a few text’s and emails, Stan decided he had enough information and gave a hunt for the ring on his way to work.  After about 10 minutes of hunting, bingo, ring found.  Ryan and Ashley ecstatic about the find, met Stan at his work and the ring was returned.  Smile’s all the way around.

Heirloom Gold and Diamond Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on St Pete Beach, Florida

Jose was down from Brooklyn, NY visiting a friend in Tampa and they went out to St. Pete Beach for some time in the sun and a swim in the gulf. While in the water they started tossing a football around and after a few minutes Jose dove to catch the ball and off came a heirloom ring that had been in the family for 25 years. He and his friend looked for a while with no luck and then along came a guy with a metal detector. He looked but could not find it either. He told Jose about the Ringfinders web site. Jose posted a notice that afternoon on the site and one of the SRARC members (Paul Hill) got the notification. As he was in Atlanta, he contacted Mike Miller and Mike put together a search team for the next morning. Ed Osmar, Rick Magyar, Mark Sillence, Jim and Gerri Adams, and Mike showed up at 9:00 am and went to work. Jose got held up in traffic and was not available to closely define the area until 9:30 am. At about 9:35 am Ed held his hand in the air and shouted I have it!!!!!!!! Jose couldn’t believe it but soon had the ring in his hand and was all smiles. Thanks to all on the SRARC team for what you do so well.

Gold Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Treasure Island, Florida

Gold Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Treasure Island, Florida

Mike was at the beach in Treasure Island with his Wife and young daughter when Mike started to feel his ring getting loose in the water so he took it off and put it in the built in pouch in the tent they had pitched and continued on making sand castles with his daughter. When it was time to leave, Mike’s wife shook the sand out of the tent and packed it up. Realizing the ring was left in the pouch, Mike checked and it was gone. The hotel where they were staying suggested they contact SRARC. Mike sent an email and Stan Flack responded quickly and made arrangements to meet Mike at the beach. Using the sand castle as a marker, Stan made 2 passes and Bingo. Ring found, beach crowd cheered and Mike was stunned how quickly the ring was found. Smiles and hi fives all the way around.

A One Week Old Gold with Diamond Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned at St. Pete Beach, Florida

A One Week Old Gold With Diamond Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned at St Pete Beach, Florida

Paul and Paula traveled from Rugby in the UK to Orlando, Florida for their wedding just one week earlier. After celebrating with family and friends, they traveled to Saint Pete Beach for a family honeymoon. On the Sunday following their wedding day, their new family were enjoying themselves in the warm sun and gulf waters. Paul was out about waist deep and was passing a football toward the beach when he felt something weird on his ring finger. When he looked down his one week old wedding band was gone.

The whole family looked and looked but could not find it. They saw a man metal detecting on the sand and asked if he could help but his detector could not go into the water. He told them about the SRARC group that will come out and search for lost items and Paul found them on the internet that night. Paul called Tom on Monday and he responded right away but the high waves keep him from doing a good search so he gave up went home and organized a group hunt for the next day. The group (Tom Jones, Ed Osmar, Rick Magyar, Mark Sillence, Mike Miller) showed up at low tide on Tuesday.

Tom organized the hunters into a line working from the deeper water toward shore. On the second pass Mike got lucky and when he dug the signal there was the wedding ring. He held the ring up and nodded to Paul who rushed out into the water and verified it was his ring. Needless to say we got a lot of smiles and hugs from both Paul and Paula.

SRARC would like to wish them many years of happiness ahead. It was our pleasure to be able to return the wedding ring to Paul’s finger.

Gold and Diamond Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Shell Island, Florida

Gold and Diamond Wedding Ring Lost, Found, and Returned on Shell Island, Florida

Shah’s daughter, son-in-law and their three children came down to St Petersburg for a visit and the whole family decided to go out to Shell Island for the afternoon. A close friend with a boat joined them and they all got on board and headed for the island. As soon as they arrived the kids were in the water. Grandfather Shah joined them and was playing with them in the shallow water. In an instant he felt his wedding ring come off. He didn’t move and sifted through the sand searching for his ring. The whole family joined in the search but after about an hour they gave up hope. They tried to forget the loss and enjoy the rest of the afternoon but as soon as they returned home Shah’s daughter began an internet search to try and rent a metal detector. The Ring Finders blog for SRARC popped up and she called Mike to see if SRARC could help. Mike arranged a hunt for the next day. The team met at the boat ramp by the Don Cesar and were soon back out to where the ring was lost. The family had marked the area where the ring had been lost very well so within a few minutes Chris had a nice hit and soon the ring was in his scoop. The family was amazed that we had found it and Shah was overjoyed. The smiles on their faces made the day for Chris and Mike. Nice recovery Chris!!!!!!!

Lost Wedding ring set found and returned at Ft Desoto Park, Pinellas County, Florida

Jordi and Maria recently moved from Spain to Orlando for a job opportunity and then on July 4, 2015 were married. This last weekend they decided to take a vacation weekend and explore a little bit of the Florida western Gulf Coast. On Friday, they came to the North Beach at Ft Desoto and were relaxing in the sun and Gulf waters.

In early afternoon they were tossing a ball to each other when Maria reached for the ball and felt her new wedding set come off her hand. She stood right where it had fallen off while Jordi dug in the sand around her feet to try and recover them. They couldn’t find the rings even thought they looked for the rest of the day. Jordi was wise enough to take a good look around and marked the location in his mind with visuals of the landscape around him. They went to there hotel that night very sad about the loss of Maria’s wedding rings. The next morning Jordi rented a metal detector and returned to the spot where the rings had been lost. He found a few pieces of rusty iron, but no rings and then the detector quit working. They continued to hunt for the rest of the day, but had no luck. They returned to Orlando the next day and Jordi got busy searching the internet and soon found SRARC on The Ring Finders site.

He contacted Mike and soon they had a meeting time established for Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Mike Miller, Chris Duerden, Bill Gallant, and Tom & Joanne Gajentan were able to attend the hunt and within 7 minutes we had both rings back on the hand of Maria. What a bunch of beautiful smiles were shared between the entire group.

Jordi and Maria were wish you the best of times while you are here in the United States and also wish you many happy years together.

Great work team, It is just the best when we are able to rescue something precious for such nice people.

HS Class Ring Lost, Found and Returned from Pass A Grille beach

During a recent detecting trip Mike Miller found a class ring. He started a search to find the owner (Tracie) and was able to find her and return her ring to her.

Her story is that Tracie and her fiance (David) were at her favorite beach for the afternoon. David was wearing her High School class ring and she warned him that if he lost it he was a “dead man”. He went into the water and was pulling himself along the bottom in waist deep water where sure enough the ring came off. Tracie was not a happy beach person after that, but they looked for the ring and finally gave up.

A couple months later she got an email telling her that Mike had found her ring and would like to return it to her. Overjoyed she contacted him and they met at a local Gulfport restaurant. She said not only did Mike return her ring he saved her fiancé’s life. The picture and smiles say the rest.

Diamond Pendant Recovered from St Pete Beach Inland Canal

Allison contacted SRARC distraught over losing her vintage diamond pendant in the water near their dock. When she explained that the water was 8 to 10 feet at that area it was a concern because this is a dive hunt and not a normal detecting call out. She went on to say that the bottom was really soft and lots of silt.

After hearing her plea to please help, Tom Jones decided to give it a try but with the warning that the pendant may or may not be recovered.

Tom Jones and Joe Szemer loaded up a compressor, dive gear and detectors and headed out to the home to meet up with Allison and her family. The water at the dock was still 6 – 8 feet at low tide, so Tom hooked up his dive gear and dropped in. Within 2 minutes on the bottom Tom Noticed what looked to be a shell on the sand. When he ran his detector over it he got a signal, reached down and picked up the half dollar sized pendant. He came back up and everyone thought something was wrong until he handed the pendant to Joe. Luckily the piece was large enough to lay on top of the soft sand.

Upon getting out of the water Allison hugged Tom even though he was dripping wet, she said “I don’t care if you’re wet. Thank you so much for finding it for me.”

Great Job Ton and Joe. SRARC appreciates your taking that extra step to bring the smiles.

Wedding Ring recovered on Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Brian was at the beach with family checking out the sea life and the small shells burrowing in the sand.   They all decided to head back to the blanket and  Brian went in the ocean to wash the sand off his hands.  When he got to the blanket he realize his ring was missing. He placed an ad on craigslist where ring finder member Howard Metts saw it and alerted Stan Flack because it was near his home.  A call went out for ring finders. Five volunteers showed to look for Brian’s ring. After about 40 minutes of hunting Stan came up with the ring. Unbelief and happiness could be seen on Brian’s face. Nice work by all!!
