Sentimental Gold Ring Lost Over 35-40 Years Ago In Lake Muskoka, Bracebridge, Ontario Canada

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

What can I say…. this was one incredible lost ring recovery story!

It all starts with a group of high school girlfriends getting back together in the summer of 2023 at “The Wilson Cottage”!

It was amazing reminiscing about the high school days and catching up on the last number of years! My high school girlfriends knew that I was a registered metal & scuba dive Detectorist with the global organization “The Ring Finders” as I have been posting recovery stories for over 7 years!

Of course I always ask…. “Have you or your Family ever lost anything at the cottage or in the water?

It turns out that Beth’s Mother, Mrs. Wilson, lost a gold ring in the bay that represented her 20th service year at Consumers Distributing of Canada! She thought she lost 20 years ago then they thought 30 years ago but it’s likely the ring was lost 35 to 40 years ago!

Of course I had to bring all my gear… my underwater metal detectors and my DIVE BLU3 floating battery operated air supply systems The NEMO to 10’ depth and the NOMAD to 30’ depth!

All we knew that Mrs. Wilson Lost Ring cleaning up weeds ..

So I tried in underwater detecting in July 2023 and found a number of pennies, a fishing lure and trash!

Then comes to July 2024, which we were invited back up for a milestone birthday which we shall not discuss what year! *wink

So of course, I say well I’m heading into the water to try and look for your mom’s ring again …. And 20 minutes later I come up with a gold ring and I was freaking out!

We had no idea this was Mrs. Wilson’s ring. Gina googled the image for consumers distributing! It was then confirmed that the ring was indeed Mrs. Wilson’s lost ring!

We then proceeded to FaceTime Mrs. Wilson and surprise her! And what a wonderful surprise it was as we all had tears of joy!

Thank you, Mrs. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson as you did make a charity donation in 2023 to my charity the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation !

This was indeed, one of the most wonderful weekends we have ever had! Celebrating friendships along with milestone birthday and incredible years of memories!

“What happens at the cottage stays at the cottage” except for this very special Ring Recovery!

Platinum Wedding Band Lost Jumping off Cottage Boathouse Roof, Lake of Bays, Baysville, Muskoka, Ontario Lakes

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Lost platinum wedding band jumping off boathouse roof.

Adam and his family were enjoying a lovely weekend at the Family cottage on Lake of Bays in the beautiful Muskoka’s cottage country. It also happened to be his wedding anniversary.

Adam decided to jump off the top of the boathouse into the water below. When he surfaced, his platinum wedding band was missing.

One of Adam’s Friends across the lake had mentioned me, as I recovered another lost wedding band for one of their mutual Friends in Otty Lake, Ottawa.

The water depth where the ring ended up was unknown but Adam felt it was definitely over 10’ deep.

I proceeded to use my Dive BLU3 Nomad air supply system with a hose length 30’ depth. Unfortunately, the Nomad unit was not operating properly as I was taking in water. I then switched to my smaller unit the NEMO for a hose reach 10’ depth. I managed to hear the tone of the platinum ring with a reach of 3’. Do I completed some temporary repairs to the Nomad unit and went back in the water.

After a few minutes back in the water I re-located the tone of platinum and recovered his wedding band.

I’d like to thank Adam and his family for their generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! Not only did he receive his wedding band, but he also received a tax receipt for his donation!

Gold Ring Lost While Fishing in Lake of Bays, Dorset, Muskoka Lakes, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Jason was up fishing at Lake Of Bays in Dorset, Muskoka and unfortunately his wedding band slipped off into the water by Rabbits Bay.

Two weeks after he contacted me and we met up at the location on a beautiful Saturday morning mid August!

The winds were starting to pick up so let’s get into it!

Jason held onto my the Dive BLU3 NOMAD floating battery operated air supply system due to the winds, while I went in between the two barges to scan the area!

Lucky the visibility, was pretty decent unlike 95% of my usual low viz conditions!

Within 3 minutes I heard that beautiful solid tone of white gold on the Minelab Excalibur2!

Cori & Jason were very happy to get his custom wedding band back on his finger!

Thank you very much Cori and Jason for the donation to my charity, The Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!! My reward goes to paying-it-forward to help men and women fighting breast cancer with their monetary needs!

Lost Sailboat Keel in Alport Bay, Lake Muskoka, Gravenhurst, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Paul and his Wife were enjoying a lovely day sailing on the waters of Lake Muskoka, Ontario in late summer of 2022.

They had stopped in Alport Bay (otherwise known as Mud Bay) to drop anchor, relax and go for a leisurely swim. Afterwards, they realized the keel of the sailboat had dropped into the waters below.

Paul reached out to me after completing and online search for help and TheRingFinders global directory and called me soon after. He was excited that I could help as well I reached out to a high school girlfriend Beth and her Father offered the assistance with their boat. “The Wilson Family” has been on Eilean Gowan Island for 70 years. AMAZING. So we booked a day in early summer 2023 and ventures out to the location.

After arriving and within 10 minutes, I located the keel in 7′ of water of the Bay. Beth and Mr. Wilson came prepared. We roped up the keel and proceeded to drag it back to Allport Marina. The staff at Allport Marina then assisted in dragging the keel out of the water and placing it beside Paul’s sailboat. Paul had some work to completed.

What an adventure! Paul and his Wife were very happy to get back sailing the beautiful waters of Lake Muskoka!

Very grateful for all the help from the Wilson’s and staff at Allport Marina. Team work is dream work! As well, a thank you to Paul for his donation to my charity I have volunteered for 15 years with his donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation.

Tiffany and Company platinum wedding band lost in DUBE Lake, Orrville, Seguin, Parry Sound, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Tim and Family were enjoying a peaceful summer vacation at a tranquil cottage on Dube Lake in beautiful Orrville, Seguin Falls in the District of Parry Sound, Ontario! Absolutely amazing area in Northern Ontario Muskoka’s cottage country!

Tim went in for a dip in the refreshing waters, pushed off the dock approximately 10’ to 14’ out, waved his hands and his Tiffany & Co platinum wedding band was not longer on his left ring finger.

With the help of a Google search, ‘The Ring Finders’ directory popped up and Tim was referred to my Ring Finders home page and blog recovery stories.
I had a lovely sunny fresh morning 3 hour drive to Ontario’s fabulous cottage country!

Met the family, geared up, coaxed the snapping turtle “Fred” to relocate, and Tim showed exactly what he doing when he lost his wedding band in the 6’ wide by 12’ length area.

Off I went into the very dark waters to start my underwater search with the Dive BLU3 Nomad battery operated hookah air system, my trusty Minelab Excalibur2 underwater metal detector and the Deteknix pin pointer.

Once I was approximately 10’ out I was 12’ depth and I heard the unmistakable tone of platinum on my detector. It was complete black visibility even to turn on my pin pointing. I had to move up to 6’ depth to see the on button and then proceeded back down to the target area to re-locate Tim’s wedding band.

Finally l, with the help of the pin pointer, I was able to here / feel the ring just tucked in behind a branch and popped back up to the surface to surprise Tim and Family!

It took roughly 7 minutes because of Tim’s accuracy of the area where he lost his wedding band! I love “quickies”!

Platinum wedding band lost dockside in Lake Rosseau, Rosseau, Ontario 🇨🇦

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received an email from Adrienne that her husband Michael lost his platinum wedding band in the silty waters dockside at their cottage in Lake Rosseau!

Lake Rosseau is an absolutely beautiful area in Ontario’s cottage country!

Michael was covering up their boat on a cold day and his wedding ring slipped off between the boat and the dock into the silty waters six feet below.

They made attempts to find the wedding ring themselves with no luck. A Friend suggested to contact my through The Ring Finders Dot Com website in which Adrienne connected with me!

Ontario cottage country was ablaze with the various trees “fall colors” on my trip up to Lake Rosseau in the Muskoka Lakes region!

I brought along my brand new hookah system called the  “BLU3 NEMO”! This unit has a total weight of 10-12lbs total! I still had my fill scuba gear just in case!

Michael showed the exact location on the dock where he watched his wedding band fall into the water.

I proceeded into the water with the hookah unit and my Minelab Excalibur2 underwater metal detector. Five minutes later the wonderful “tone” of platinum sounded off in my headphones after I pulled two nails! BINGO!!!

I proceeded up from underneath the dock with the beautiful wedding band leading the way!

Here is the video of this beautiful wedding band recovery for Michael & Adrienne;

Happy smiles all around!!

Thank you so very much Michael & Adrienne for entrusting me to recover this beautiful wedding band but also your very generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! I am humbled at your generosity as a credit to my metal/scuba detecting skills!
