11:30p.m A lost diamond ring was posted on Craigslist by a women who lost it earlier the same day.I emailed her right away and directed her to visit TheRingFinders web page ASAP

First thing in the morning she called to meet her there.

When I pulled into the parking lot I saw 2 people with metal detectors searching the area she posted online.I could also tell they had very little to No experience by there machines and there swing. So I politely asked if they had found a ring?

They said No and one of there buddies was there at midnight searching…Keep in mind they never actually contacted the person who lost the ring.So the newbies continued searching when Robin the owner walked up and we talked for a few minutes to narrow the search down to exactly where she lost it. That’s when John Hughes my Ringfinder team mate arrived just in time.Meanwhile..The other detectorist were tired, unsuccessful and on there way leaving. The owner had shown me a picture she took when she lost it with houses in the background and I asked her, show it to john..John Yells..we are 100ft off..Curtis go grid over there!! 5 min later I get a ring sound on my PI machine, kick the sand,And looked at robin with the biggest smile, dropped my metal detector laughing:) she said Oh my God picked up her ring and gave me a hug.We were both Excited and in relief I had found it!

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring at Ewa Beach…..FOUND

As I was doing some “Honey do list” items my daughter Korin handed me the phone and said, “Someone lost their ring Dad.”  I answered the phone and Jenna explained to me that she lost her ring in the sand at Ewa Beach.  I was far enough along on my chores so I told Jenna I could be there in about 45 minutes as the location is on the opposite side of the island from where I live.  She said she would wait on the beach by the spot where she thought she lost her ring.  I told her, “Don’t try finding the ring it might make it harder for me to find it.”  I arrived with my Excalibur and I was met by Alex, Jenna’s fiance.  Jenna explained that she put her ring in her shorts pocket and when she put them back on after sunbathing she realized the ring was gone.  They showed me the general area and I started a box search in an East-West direction.  With nothing but pull tabs and 55 cents in clad I asked if there was anywhere else she went.  Jenna pointed to a picnic table 75 yards away and said they sat over there awhile and walked straight over and back.  I made three passes towards the picnic table but the area was so littered with metal trash I was getting overloaded with targets.  I decided to go back to the original box and try a North-South grid search.  It paid off on about the fifth line I got what could only be a Gold Ring tone.  I made a gentle scoop and the target was captured. When I looked into the scoop I couldn’t see anything.  I dumped the residual and scanned the pile getting the same tone.  This time I took less of a scoop and their was the tiny Size 3 White Gold Solitaire Diamond ring at the bottom of the scoop. “I might have your ring Jenna.”  Excited she quickly came over to where I stood and I said, “If you can describe the ring in my hand it’s yours.”  Startled and just getting it the day before she said it was silver colored and a single diamond.  Is this it?  As I showed it to her tears started streaming down her face and she said,  “I really didn’t think you were going to find it.”  It only took 30 minutes but to her it must have seemed like an eternity.  A bit more challenging for me but the Excalibur performed well in deep sand on such a tiny ring.  Aloha Jenna & Alex.

TeuilaFriday, December 19, 2014

As I was returning from Metal Detecting on Scuba I surfaced in about 10 feet of water and began snorkeling into the beach.  As I approached two young ladies I noticed that panicked look one gets when they lose something treasured.  I asked the first young lady if they lost something and she responded that her friend Teuila had just lost her Gold ring and she was stressing.  That’s when I raised my Excalibur from under water and said “Maybe I can help.  Where did she lose it?”  They showed me the general area and as I started the box search I asked, “Is this too far towards shore” and Teuila said, “Probably.” so I made a 90 degree turn and on the second sweep of my detector I had what could only be a Gold Ring tone.  I knelt down and stuck my head in the water and through my mask the sun was glinting off a pretty gold ring.  I stood up with ring in hand and yelled over to Teuila.  “I might have your ring.” Shocked it happened so quickly she came over to where I stood and I said, “If you can describe the ring in my hand it’s yours.”  She immediately described the ring and I reached out and dropped it into her hand.  Then without hesitation she gave me the biggest hug I’ve had in a long time.  A few cheers went up from the tourists in the water that realized I just found her ring.  She said, “What are the odds that you would be here exactly when I needed your talents?”  I pointed up and said “The Big Guy upstairs must of wanted you to have that ring. Glad I could help.”

Lost Gold wedding Band in Whonnock Lake, Maple Ridge

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I got a call from young man that told me that he lost his wedding ring at Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge and that he and his wife and friends searched for over an hour but had no luck finding it.I know this lake well as I have found a couple of lost rings for the owners in the past and from the description of the area he described it sounded like an easy search. We made arrangements to meet early the next morning and I drove them to the search site. When the young man showed me the area it was a fare way out in the cool morning water to where he lost his 2 month old gold wedding band. We started the search and it wasn’t exactly the perfect conditions I was hoping for due to large odd shaped rocks that made it extremely hard to search with my sand scoop. After a few dives down to check and if I could spot my signal, I had to stop due to the fact it was nearly impossible to see anything in the water.I continued to go after a good strong signal, I was sure it was his ring but had a tough time scooping it up with all the big rocks around. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Then after 20 minutes I looked into my scoop and saw the sweet site of gold! I love that feeling because I know good that young man and his wife would feel…These were two very nice people who were in love and I know how much they wanted their ring back where it belonged. These rings travel 12,000 km from Iran to Vancouver for that wedding day, only two months ago OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I truly have the greatest job in the world…I get to find peoples lost smiles… thank you so much for reading my post… until the next one!Lost your ring…Call me ASAPBest, Chris TurnerYou can watch the video of the search below…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mY2fdKIbuk

Found…100 Year Old Prescription Glasses

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)
100 Years Old

100 Years Old

Most of the time I’d get called out to search for a lost ring, but on this day ,on my own time, I went to English Bay Beach just after the Polar Bear Swim to search the low tide…January 1, 2013.

On this nice but cold evening when the tide went out it exposed many pairs of prescription glasses, in total 15 pairs were found that evening. One in particular was a pair of spectacles that I found buried completely in the sand. Because of the amount of  prescription glasses that were being found I took my time digging this signal, as I reached into the hole I pulled out  a cool looking pair of spectacles. I have to say my first thought was ”Harry Potter”… I carefully wrapped it up in a cloth and put it in a safe pocket and resume my hunting.

When I got home that evening I posted on craigslist that I found prescription glasses along with a few other things I found at the Polar Bear Swim at English Bay Beach. I only received one reply from someone asking about a pair of Ray-Ban glasses (Aviators) but I did not find those, it took almost 3 weeks before I got a reply from a young man asking if I found a pair spectacles.

I took a picture with my iPhone and sent him the photo of the glasses and I received an email immediately… Those are the ones!!!

I have to admit it’s the first time I experienced how much it meant to to that person to have their prescription glasses found. I didn’t realize what the story was that came with the glasses until I talk with him. You see these were not ordinary prescription glasses, these glasses were from his great grandfather, over 100 years old! How can you ever replace a family heirloom like that? That’s why I love what I do! I love helping people and given them a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever!

Here’s what he put on The Ring Finders Face Book page…

“Thanks to Chris Turner and The Ring Finders recovered my Norwegian great grandfathers old pair of glasses that I lost during this years Polar Bear Swim in Vancouver, BC. Chris found them the same day and posted them under the lost and found section on Craigslist. And although it took me 20 days to even think that someone would be kind enough to put it on Craigslist, Chris convinced me that there still is some good in this world. These 100 year old glasses gets to continue their story and continue being a family heirloom.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Metal Detecting for a Lost Gold Wedding Band in Granville Island, Vancouver

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I got a call 1 month ago in regards to a lost ring but I couldn’t help the young lady due to my wife and I just arrived in Florida for the month. I sent her the contact number of a member not far from me and he took a look for it but didn’t find the ring.

It’s a game of inches and the ring can easily be missed if you don’t think outside the box…You have to ask a lot of questions and then the detective work starts…You rarely find the lost item where the person thinks it will be…Because I passed the call over to another member I just did a follow up and offered my service to make sure the ring wasn’t missed and the young lady agreed to let me come out and do a search. I have close to 40 years of experience and thought it couldn’t hurt to take a look…She told me that she was having a jeweller make another one for her but she sure would love to have the original back as it was the one that had the sentimental value attached to it…

After showing me the area that the ring was lost in Jody went home to put her son down for a nap. It was only a minute after she left for home that I had found her ring…Talk about luck! Some searches you seem to walk right to the lost item…

The Smile is why I love my job! Thanks for reading my blog and Happy Holidays!

Lost Rolex Watch at 3rd Beach at Stanley Park, Vancouver…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I got  call and an email and a text message in regards to a lost Rolex Watch at 3rd beach in Stanley Park last night. The young man as you could imagine was pretty upset and found my service on the internet a day after he lost his watch.  He went back with a rake and searched the water but no luck.I called Patrick and told him that low tide was around 4 am and I’d like to meet him at 2am to start the search as the tide was going out.I met patrick in North Vancouver at 2am and we drove to 3rd beach to search for his Rolex. When we got to the beach Patrick showed me the area he thought the watch was at. It was a pretty  big area and the fact it was black out it was hard for him to pinpoint the exact area.I started the grid search with the help of Patrick who stood on the shoreline with a flashlight so I could use that as my reference point…After 45 minutes in about waste deep water we were rewarded with a beautifully  Rolex watch in my water scoop!I let out a yell that got Patrick very excited and when I got to shore I put the watch in his hand… This watch was very special  as he bought it after he graduated from carpentry school 3 years ago…Thank you very much Patrick for the generous reward! I will be donating 15 % of the reward money to Children’s Hospital as I do with all my recoveries.I love my job!Lost something?Call me ASAP!Watch the video of the recovery on the link below… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3R9mzGpf7mc
