I received a call today from this gang enjoying the day at the Torch Lake Sandbar in the rain.
They need help finding a lost men’s wedding ring.
I got to the location, and it was an easy search. They stayed in the exact location and waited for me to arrive.
I set up my marker stakes, then walked about 5 feet to find the ring.
I received a call from Matt needing help finding his wedding ring. Matt was with family/friends enjoying the day drinking some adult beverages while throwing a football out at the Torch Lake sand bar. (I highly recommend people drinking adult beverage and throwing a football. Its very good for my business). On one of the throws, Matt noticed his ring flying through the air. He and his friends looked for the ring but could not find it. They did save a google location on Matt’s phone, making my job a lot easier. Matt sent me the google location they were anchored at. I reassured him, I was very familiar with the exact spot the ring was lost and finding it should not be that hard. I headed out to the Torch Lake sand bar right after work to start the search. I got to the spot and found 2 pontoon boats anchored on the spot. It was just before dark when I arrived and they were packing up to leave for the night. I waited for them to leave, then went to the spot and found the ring in 10 minutes. Matt did a great job on saving his location.
Matt was already back home and wanted me to ship the ring back to him.

I received a call from Katrina who needed help finding a ring she lost in shoulder deep water. She was kayaking and fell out of the kayak, loosing her ring and a silver bracelet. She found the bracelet, but could not find the gold ring.
I met Katrina and her family at their cottage on Grand Traverse Bay. We had to kayak a couple hundred yards to the area they were kayaking in. It was raining pretty heavily, making it difficult to see the bottom of the lake. Katrina’s husband had put a marker buoy out making the spot from the day before. He used a bucket with a large black rock in the. When we got to the spot the buoy and the bucket were gone. Katrina and her husband searched around the area and could not find the rock due to the waves and rain. I searched the general area gridding for about an hour then the rain stopped and the water cleared up. Katrina’s husband found the black rock and called me over. I started a new grid search around the black rock and found the ring about 10 minutes later.

I received a text from Ali she had lost her engagement ring in the woods when throwing leaves down a hill. Ali was going to be out of town for a couple days, she wanted me to communicate with her fiance Nick. I got a picture of the location she was throwing the leaves down the hill. The area was about 50 feet wide and the hill is very steep at about a 45 degree angle. They had rented a metal detector and tried for 10 hours to find the ring but had no luck.
Nick had to work Saturday but let me get started before he got home from work. I wanted to get started early just to have more day light to work the steep hill.
I started the search and realized I needed a rope to stop me from going down the hill. I brought my anchor from my boat the wedged it between two trees. Wrapped the roped around my free arm then started a grid pattern as best I could. I searched about two hour with no luck. I started another grid search at a 90 degree angle to the previous search. A good grid search was impossible due to all the small trees and brush. After searching the new grid pattern for an hour, I got the signal I was looking for and saw a small portion of the ring sticking out of the leaves. I moved the leaves away and found the ring.

This adventure started with a call from Sue about her daughter-in-law Rachel loosing her engagement ring in west Twin Lake in Elsworth Mi while on vacation. Her Daughter-in-law was floating on a tube and the diamond caught on the tube and got pulled off her finger. They had taken a pontoon out to the a sandbar on the lake and anchored to let the kids play.
I arranged to go to the location after work. Even thought this is a small lake in a small town I did not want to take a chance on another detectorist getting the ring before I could find it. The drive up was an hour and a half, so I ended getting to the location at 7:30 pm. I had about 3 hours light before it got dark. Sue had sent me a hand drawn picture of the approximate location they were at. I took my boat out to the location and started a grid search of the area. I was noticing not very many foot prints in the area. I searched about an hour with no luck. I called Sue from the lake trying to get a better location. She ended up sending me a bunch of pictures, but due to bad cell service only 3 came through. One of the pictures I could line up a line of sight and get an approximate location. I got to the new area and was finding the water to deep compared to the picture. After an hour grid searching I came across a small little gravel hump about 3 feet across. I knew at that point this was the spot I was looking for. About 30 seconds later I got the nice sweet tone I was looking for and it was the ring. Sue and the rest of the family were back down state about 4 hours. I had to go down state the following weekend. Sue came to my location to get the ring. She gave it back to her daughter-in-law for her birthday on 8-3-21.

I received a call that Hugh lost his keys and cell phone in Bass lake. Hugh was anchoring his boat in waist deep water. When, I got to the location Hugh’s wife told me off the right side of the dock in waist deep water. The muck was about a foot deep in the area. The keys and phone disappeared in the muck as soon as they hit the bottom. I got the waders on and headed into the lake. The first target was an old ice shanty. I moved out a little further then found the keys. I found the phone right next to the keys. A nice easy call, I was in the water about 10 minutes.
I received a call from Christine that her sister had lost her Wedding ring at her parents house while getting the flower beds ready for winter. We agreed to meet the next day at noon.
We met at noon and I got the story. She was cleaning leaves out of some beds in front of the house. She had bagged up about 10 bags of leaves. She also dumped other plants/grass in the back of the property in 3 different piles. She had me check 2 of the bags of leaves and the area in front of the house. We had no luck so off we went to the piles at the back of the property. I searched the area twice with no luck. Her father had walked out to talk to me and watch the process. He stated she was in all 10 bags of leaves they had in the garage. So, off we went back to the bags in the garage. We had to bring them out into the driveway because the detector way picking up the tracks on the garage doors and the car. I searched through about 5 of the bags and finally got a signal in one of the bags. We took the bag out in the side yard and dumped it out to search further. Just as I was zeroing in on the ring they spotted it in the leaves I has moving around.
I received a call about a lost wedding ring in a small brushy area on Crystal Lake in Frankfort Michigan. I knew this would be a short hunt just because the search area was about 10 feet by 10 feet. I started searching in the brush and overgrowth and found the ring under a low hanging branch from a pine tree. This was a short fun little search after work.
Received an email from Peter that he lost his Wedding ring earlier in the day. He was washing his dog out on the dock. His hands were lathered up with soap and the ring slipped off hit the dock then fell into the water. He looked with goggles and could not find the ring. The search area was pretty small but I was hampered with a lot of other signals in the water. I made a decision to just dig it all and clear the area. One of the trashiest signals brought the ring up. In the scoop with the ring was corroded change a stainless bolt and washer. Total search time was about 30 Minutes. 
I received a call from a fellow Ringfinder Greg Larabel about a lost ring in Ludington, Mi. The closest Ringfinder Chuck Raison and himself had other commitments could I take this call. He gave me the phone number for Scott. I called Scott and got the story and set to meet Scott at the location today at 3:00 pm. Scott said he was throwing a football with his son in water about 5 feet deep with his son and saw his 14 k White gold ring go flying off. They searched the area with goggles and had no luck. I met up with Scott at 3:00 pm got the story again and started the search. Scott walked me out to the area he was in. I had him place two of my snow plow markers as reference points. He mentioned that the wavers were larger yesterday than they were today. I explained to him that will raise the water in the spot he was in, so I might need to search closer to shore. The waves were big today also, I was on my tippy toes and jumping up so the waves did not go over my head. I started at the markers Scott set and worked close to shore. After about 40 minutes I got the only signal of the day and had Scott’s ring. I called Scott and his son over that I had a ring. Showed it to Scott and he verified it was his ring. He said he has no idea how I could find the ring in such a large area. The ring was about 15 feet closer to shore right in line with the marker Scott set. He said to his wife last night the ring is gone forever and will never be found. She said let me google it and found The Ring Finders. Scott has a very nice family, I enjoyed talking to him and his wife after finding the ring. Now they can get back to enjoying whats left of the family vacation.
