Lost class ring, Clemson South Carolina- found

  • from Greenville (South Carolina, United States)

I was contacted by a gentleman who had recently graduated from a college in the upstate. The gentleman advised he was at a dock swimming and upon exiting the water his ring slipped off.  Gathering more information about the search it sounded like a very good possibility of recovery, so I committed to the dive.

I met the client at the dock, geared up, jumped in and found this visibility to be approximately 5 feet total, the depth to be 15 feet with a very silty bottom. I started hunting with my metal detector and with this being a public dock there were tremendous amounts of metal trash. What made the hunt more difficult was to the fact that as soon as I moved the silt on the bottom- trying to find the metal object- my visibility went to zero and stayed that way. I very meticulously , “blindly” searched for approximate one hour and 45 minutes with the detector, picking up every metal object, feeling it in my hands and placing the trash in my collection bag to get it out of the search area.

At the 1:45 hour mark I surfaced and spoke with the client about what he wanted to do. I was down to 700 psi in my tank and 15 minutes left of a contracted two hour timeframe. We decided to give it one more shot…. I submerged, landed on the bottom, my metal detector signaled, I picked up the object and felt it…. Lo-and-Behold; there was the ring!! I surfaced, gave the client the ring and he was overjoyed!

Its always very satisfying being able to return a lost item to someone, especially working in conditions that are extremely difficult to search.

Guru Gold Ring Found (Greer SC)

  • from Greenville County (South Carolina, United States)

Several days ago I received a call asking if I still find lost rings for people. Of course I said YES!!

Sunil was visiting family when he lost his ring while playing with his dog. The dog’s toy had been thrown multiple times when all of a sudden Sunil felt the ring come off his finger on his last throw. Knowing it should be easy to find he started looking in the dormant grass which was tan in color, almost like the gold ring. After spending time looking in the area he realized he needed help. Sunil did an internet search and found theringfinders.com website and found me in the directory.  I met Sunil this morning and searched the area that he thought the ring was in, but didn’t find the ring there. So I needed to broaden the search area. This time I searched outside the fence and in about 2 minutes my detector scored that sweet sound of gold. I brought Sunil over and showed him where the ring had landed. He was surprised it had landed behind him. I have found that rings are rarely where people think they are. I was happy to have another successful ring search!

Thanks for the reward, Sunil!

Very happy to get his ring back

Lost platinum diamond ring FOUND in Piedmont, South Carolina near Powdersville

  • from Greenville County (South Carolina, United States)

I met Jess yesterday after she called me earlier in the week to find her platinum diamond ring. She told me she had lost the ring while doing yard work. I could sense the desperation in her voice and I knew I had to do all I could to help her find the ring. After setting up a time over the phone I went to her beautiful home and spent several hours searching for the ring with no success. After another hour went by I decided to use my Pinpointer to more accurately search around her pool and the lattice around her deck, which were places I couldn’t reach with my detector. I asked Jess more questions about what she was doing when she noticed her ring was missing and while we were talking I could see around the decking where the lattice was a bit loose, so I asked her if I could pull it back to look underneath the deck. She agreed, so I got down and pulled the lattice back and reached my hand in to push away some vines and I saw a glint of metal. After moving more leaves and vines back I saw what we had been looking for! Low and behold, there was her diamond platinum ring.

It was such an emotional thing for me to give her the ring, but that didn’t hold a candle to the emotions that she felt, I’m sure. She overflowed with tears and gave me the biggest bear hug I’ve ever had! Wow!! It was worth all the frustration of the time it took to find the ring. So don’t give up until all the avenues have been exhausted and don’t lose hope.

This was my first search as a member of The Ring Finders and I hope to have many more successful stories to share.
