Lost ring found in Campbell CaliforniaRecently I got a call. “Do you hunt for lost rings with your daughter? You round my ring for me a few years ago…I lost it again.”

Way back in 2010, Vince lost his wedding ring in a park. My daughter and I found it for him. It was one of our first recoveries for TheRingFinders, so we remember it well. Click here to read that story.

This time, Vince was playing a ball game with his three sons on the trampoline in their back yard. While he was bouncing up and down, he reached down for the ball and gave it a hard throw. To his dismay, he watched his ring fly off his finger. They searched for hours, but couldn’t find it.

I made two trips over to Vince’s house. We searched his yard, under the trampoline, and his neighbor’s yard (across the fence to the left of the photo below. But no ring. There was only one possibility left: The ring had flown backwards, over the fence behind his head, into a different neighbor’s yard. That neighbor wasn’t home, but Vince said he would contact him as soon as possible.

The next day, Vince sent me an email with a photo of his ring. It had been sitting on top of the grass in that neighbor’s yard. This time Vince is going to get the ring resized!

Lost wedding band found in Los Gatos

Ilene was at the park today with a group of friends and their children. When her daughter asked to hold her wedding and engagement rings, Ilene agreed, with the warning, “Hold them tight!”

Of course, kids will be kids, and a few minutes later her daughter said, “Mommy, I dropped your rings!” The entire group started searching right away, but couldn’t find them. After they searched for an hour, Ilene pulled out her iPhone, searched the web for a metal detector specialist, and found us.

We arrived about half an hour later, to partial good news: one of the children had found one of the rings. But the other was still missing after more than an hour and a half of searching by the whole group. As we unloaded our metal detectors from the car, a dozen children and adults gathered around. We hoped we could deliver a good show for this, our biggest audience ever!

Eryn swung her detector over the center of the primary search area for about 30 seconds and got a solid hit. There, hidden in deep grass, was the missing ring. The crowd went wild! Ilene was happy that both rings had been found, and her daughter looked relieved. Everybody went home happy.

Campbell dad finds his ring in Los Gatos park

Campbell dad finds his ring in Los Gatos park

Today we got a call from a Campbell dad who had just lost his platinum wedding band at  a park in Los Gatos. He had already hunted for the ring on hands and knees for an hour when his wife found Ring Finders on the web. We headed over to the park with two metal detectors.

The owner showed us how the ring had flown off his finger when he threw a soccer ball over his head. We re-enacted the toss a few times with another ring to identify the search area. But after an hour, we still hadn’t found it.

Then we searched closer to where he had been standing, and found it very quickly. Unbelievably, the ring had fallen almost at his feet. Dad has decided to get his ring resized so that it doesn’t fall off again.
