Lost Ring on Calgary Highway Recovered

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739

After a long time in  -25 deg temperatures it was pleasant to see +2 degrees again, that is unless you are driving on Calgary’s freeways without windshield washer fluid and then the splash from the road makes visibility impossible. Such was the case for Erin and her friend. They ran out of fluids and had to pull over to the side of the very busy Deerfoot Trail where Erin jumped out and threw snow on the windshield and in the process lost her ring. They looked and looked but could not find  it.   She called me and we agreed to meet at the side of the highway. When I got there they had returned to the seen  and  with cars flying past us at 100 km/h she began to relate her story.  She pointed at the ground where she was standing and said, ” I was standing about here” then she paused, because at the toe of her boot was the lost ring. While I hadn’t even turned on my Metal Detector she was grateful that I had come out, as she had thought it was gone forever.  A very happy young lady cleaned up her ring and posed for the photo below.

Lisa called me this morning, she was in need of the services of The Ring Finders.  She explained that she had been at a function where she boards her horse and when leaving believes her ring fell off her cold hand in the parking area.  I agreed to meet her at the location. Upon arriving she helped me place my parking cones to designate the area she believed it was lost in.  I then increased the area by 10 feet on each side.  After I carefully gridded  the area and picked up lots of nails and shards of aluminum, I was sure Lisa’s ring was not there.  I asked Lisa, “Where else could your ring have come off?”  The only other place she could think it may be was at her home from when she got home that night.  I suggested that since we were already out why not go and check her place.  After a short 10 minute drive we arrived in the town of Chestermere.  She showed me the route she had taken from her car to her front door and I went to work scanning the area. Sure enough after 10 minutes I recovered her beautiful White Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring.   She was over the moon with joy at getting her ring back and said she was going to get it resized right away.

It feels so good to make people this happy, call a Ring Finder near you and Get Happy!

Lisa glad to have engagement ring back.

Tyler had been celebrating Christmas in his backyard Hot Tub when they decided it would be a good idea to jump out of the Hot Water and jump into the Cold Snow to make Snow Angels  BRRRRR!   Unfortunately the extreme cold of the snow made his wet finger shrink and in the process of flailing around to make a Snow Angel his Wedding Ring came off and was lost in the snow, which was 6-8 inches deep over the whole yard.   Tyler left a message and I returned his call, we arranged to meet at his home.  When Tyler showed me where they had been frolicking in the snow I decided to start my search.    Within two passes across the back yard with my Garrett AT-PRO Metal Detector I got the unmistakeable sound of White Gold. I swept  through the snow and there it was gleaming up at me.   Tyler was extremely happy and relieved to have his wedding and back on his finger as you can see form the photo below.

Lost Keys in Snow recovered in Penhold Alberta

A desperate call from Leslie on Christmas Eve, her daughter had been shoveling their sidewalks and lost the only set of keys for their Car fortunately they also had a Truck. Due to the winter storm I was unable to travel the Highway that evening and we arranged for me to go out on Boxing Day.   The weather was good on Boxing Day and I drove 120 kilometers to her home in Penhold, Alberta without any problem.  When I arrived Leslie showed me the areas that were best to search, after kicking down and searching the 2 foot mounds of snow along the front of the yard I turned to the path leading up to the house and around to the side.  After 1 hour I still had not found the keys.   I then started work the center of the front yard and after a few passes found the keys in the middle of the yard a good 15 feet from the sidewalk, that girl sure has a good arm.   Leslie was thrilled to get the keys back as they were the only set and it would have cost  $500.00 to get new ones.   I love the smiles I get when I recover lost valuables for people just look at Leslie beaming below.

Happy to have keys back

Wedding Ring Lost for 3 Months Recovered – Calgary

Bruce called me 3 months ago November 2014, it was a nippy winter day, he had taken his young dog for a walk in the large sports field by his home and lost his wedding ring.   Unfortunately the large puppy had a mind of it’s own, he had not been trained yet, making a pleasant walk in the snow a bit of a challenge.   During the walk Bruce had played with the pup by getting down and rough housing with him in the snow, he had not done this once but many times during the walk.

One thing most of us forget and so did Bruce is that our fingers shrink when they get cold and wedding rings that have been on for decades now have a chance to slip off.

When I arrived,  we went over to the sports field and he directed me through the path they had walked and each stop they had made.  I scanned the area on the path and each side of the route they had taken, as well as, around each area they had stopped to play.  There was about a foot of snow that day but many tracks in the snow as this was a popular place to go for walks.   After 2 hours I still had not located the ring and Bruce was now showing signs of Hypothermia ( he wasn’t dressed for the weather) called off the search accepting that the ring was gone forever.
I told Bruce I wasn’t convinced we had searched enough of the area as the sports field is very large and we might have missed it by only a few inches.  I advised Bruce I would be back to search further and let him know if I found the ring.

Every time we had a break in the cold weather I would go out and search more of the field.  After 3 further visits and several hours searching, each time using a grid  and utilizing parking cones to delineate each section. I recovered Bruce’s wedding ring far from the area we were initially looking?  I took it directly over to Bruce’s home where I presented him with his lost 18k gold wedding band, engraved with their names and wedding date of 1977.  Bruce was extremely grateful, he didn’t know I was still searching for it and assumed it lost forever.   Another happy recipient of the Ring Finders Service.

First Gold Ring Returned of 2015 – Calgary Alberta

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739

I received a phone call from Alex this morning, he explained,  he had lost his wedding ring the day before after brushing snow off his car.  This is a recurring theme of lost rings snow in the winter, Brushing off cars without gloves, cold hands are then shaken to get the snow off them and there goes the ring.   Just as a side note, if you don’t want to lose your ring in cold weather, wear gloves.
This is exactly what happened to Alex, I met him out at his residence, where he showed me where he remembered losing the ring and where he and family had searched for 3 hours with no luck.
I did a cursory search of the area he directed me to at first and had no luck, so I set up a grid using my parking cones and started my grid search of the area, I always make the grid area larger than the customer thinks it should be, after just 10 minutes working the grid I located Alex’s Ring, about 10 feet away from where he had me looking.  Rings roll and bounce and get kicked around when desperate people are trying to find their treasured items.
Another search ended with a big smile, Alex said, he was sure it was gone for ever. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to recover your Wedding Ring Alex!

Lost White Gold Ring Recovered in Calgary – Bridgeland

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739

I received a call on Saturday night while I was at a family Christmas get together, a gentleman explained that his wife had lost both her Wedding and Engagement ring. While I was busy that night I agreed to go out and do the search the next day.

Sunday,  I dressed in my winter parka and warm boots and gloves since it was -18° C ( approx 0° F) and went over to find Brigette’s ring, she came out right away when she saw me drive up and I inquired about the details of the loss and the area it was lost in, on the phone I had been told there was a lot of snow but I was pleasantly surprised there was only about 6 inches in the area where the rings were lost.  They had done there own search and found the wedding band but could not located the engagement ring.

I got out my Garrett ATPRO, Garrett Pinpointer and Garrett Retriever, the retriever is perfect for raking through snow.  The ring was White Gold so I set up my detector in Pro Mode, Coin setting, and Iron Discrim of 30, White Gold can range from 45 to 65 on the display depending on the mixture of metals mixed with the gold.  I set out a grid of the area and started my search, after finding some foil and coins I had seemed to have cleaned out the area of likely signals so it was time to search the grid in the other direction, 90° from the first scan.  After about another 15 minutes I got a scratchy  mid tone  and a 45 on the display. I was expecting to have a clear tone but scratched away the snow and ice crystals and there it was a beautiful White Gold and Diamond Engagement Ring.  When I presented it to Brigette she broke into tears of joy, which she wiped away for the picture I took. There is no better feeling than reuniting people with the valuables they thought they would never see.  Merry Christmas Brigette.

Lost 22K Gold Ring Recovered — in Calgary

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739

I was out looking in a snow bank for some keys for a couple the other night, when I got a call from Dan.  He said he would like to rent a metal detector to find the ring he had lost earlier in front of his house.  I advised that I could come over and find it for him and save him the frustration of learning to use a detector and failing to find the ring due to a lack of experience.  He agreed, and as soon as I finished recovering the keys I rushed over to Dan’s house.  Dan and his brother came out to show me where they thought it was lost so I setup to grid the area. My first pass I deliberately went further along than they had indicated, at which point I was corrected and told that it wouldn’t be there and I should walk back toward the two fellows.  I asked them if they would like me to dig the signal I just got or ignore it, because it sounds pretty good.  Dan says sure if you want to, so I did and up popped the 22k Men’s Gold Ring.

Not where they expected it to be

Lost items are rarely in the spot you think you lost them, as your searching you kick things around and then you call The Ring Finders and we think out of the box as well as using top notch equipment to recover your valuables.  Dan and his brother if they had of rented a detector would not have found this ring because it was out of their perceived search area.  Why Rent when an Expert can locate your valuables for you.

Dan was a very happy man and couldn’t believe I had recovered it in only 10 minutes.

Lost Pendant Recovered in Calgary – New Brighton

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739
I got called out to day to New Brighton in SW Calgary to find a Gold Chain and Pendant.  When I got there Jay showed me were him and his brother had been rough housing out in the yard last night.
Unfortunately before I got there he had taken a snow shovel and tried looking for the chain & pendant distributing the snow around the yard. I set to work griding the area and searching for a likely signal but found nothing in the area he had indicated. I expanded my search outside the designated area and got a loud 65, clearing the snow away I recovered the Pendant which Jay quickly took from my hand saying he thought he would never see it again. I still had to locate the chain. I completed the rest of the yard and re-scanned it one more time in the opposite direction but still nothing.
Puzzled, I asked Jay if he had checked the coat he was wearing because sometimes the heavier pendant falls off but the broken chain can catch on clothing. He said, he was pretty sure he had checked, so I went back to detecting hoping for the best. Jay had disappeared for awhile, then called me to say he had taken another look at the coat and Found the chain in the hood of he coat.
I love helping folks find their lost precious items.

Lost Ring in Sylvan Lake Recovered by The Ring Finders

from Airdrie (Alberta, Canada)
Contact: 1-403-701-1739

Mike had been shoveling snow in his back yard and lost his Tungsten Wedding Ring. He didn’t noticed the ring was missing until he was back inside the house warming up.  He searched the Internet for help finding lost rings and found The Ring Finders and this is where the story starts.
Mike, called me on Monday and asked me if I would search for his lost ring in Sylvan Lake Alberta, I said I would be able to go out on Wednesday its out of my area but every search request is special.  Mike was calling me from Toronto where he was on business, I could tell the ring meant a great deal to him.  I spoke with his wife Sarah on Tuesday and confirmed the time I would be out.

When I got there today she greeted me at the door before I could even knock, she was very anxious to get the ring back and thanked me very much for traveling the 149 km to help them.  Sarah, showed me the area where they thought it might be which was basically the back yard the back parking area and part of the lane behind the garage and possibly even on the deck.

After determining that the signal ID I was looking for was in the range of 65 I determined that if I was to check every signal over 60 then I should locate it quickly.  After 30 minutes and only scraping the snow off 6 targets up popped Mike’s magnificent Tungsten Wedding Band.
