Ring recovered Fremont Lakes, Fremont, Nebraska

Ring was lost while playing with kids in lake, tossing the kid and the ring came off.   Attempts to find the ring by diving down and feeling with hands and feet failed to find it.  Owner had a pretty good idea where in the swimming area it was lost.  While searching on the internet to rent a metal detector he came across the ringfinders and gave me a call.  Drove out after work and ring was found after about 20 minutes.

Ring was lost when owner was cleaning gutters on home.  Stated that he would grab a hand full out of the gutter and was throwing it down to the ground.  Search took about 5 minutes to find.  Ground was fairly moist and ring was pressed into ground to the point that only the top of it was visible.  Picture is after ring was pulled from the mud.

Owner lost while planting raised vegetable garden, plants, and trees.  Dug up a few of the plants and went thru some of the mulch without any luck.   Went over his garden first and managed to find his pocket knife he had lost.  Started going around the trees he had planted hoping he hadn’t lost it in the bottom of the hole.  Luckily we had a signal around the first tree down about two inches in the mulch.  This was one of the trees he had pulled the mulch back and had dug the tree up to search.  Search took about 20 minutes.

Browsing Reddit noticed a post for advice on metal detecting.  It described how his friend had lost his ring while spreading straw over his newly seeded lawn.  They went out and rented a metal detector, but came to realize, there was a lot of metal in their yard. One person even posted a link to my craigslist ad for metal detecting services.  They contacted me and we set up a meeting on Saturday morning.

Very nice couple, even offered me a pair of shoes to wear, first I thought it was because they didn’t want me tearing up their new lawn with my boots.  I must have had a puzzled look on my face, so she explained that they had a dog and there might be some surprises laying around.  Can’t say I haven’t done that before metal detecting!  Husband felt pretty strongly that it was in one section of the yard, so that’s where I started.   I made one pass down to the back of the yard and was coming back up when I found it, it was right where he thought it should be!  One previously lost wedding ring = happy husband and wife.

Ring Found 1 1/2 Year Later in Lexington, Ne

Ring was lost near a small island where boaters anchor and swim.  While climbing up the ladder into the boat, ring caught and nearly pulled owners finger off.   Family and friends spent several hours feeling around with their feet and a couple more hours diving with swim goggles with no luck.

Insurance company contacted me and asked if I would be interested, I was the closest member around and it was a six hour round trip.

First trip out, weather conditions were good, lake was up about a foot from the time the ring was lost.  Spent a little over 20 hours in the water with no luck, other then a few bottle caps, fishing lures, and a little spare change.

Second trip, wind was blowing 20-30 miles per hour and was getting hit by 2-3 ft waves, needless to say after trying for about two hours, it was useless.  Insurance company paid claim and I put this one in the back of my mind.

Because of this summers drought conditions and the fact that the level in this lake is controlled by the utilities district and also used for irrigation.  The level in this lake was going to be dropped 8 feet by labor day.  Watching the water level grid they have on their website, I waited until nearly the lowest point and made a third trip over labor day weekend.

Arriving at the lake I was shocked at how large an area was now dry.   We were able to park and walk to the island, seemed surreal.  We begin searching a grid pattern carefully covering every inch.  I apparently did a good job the first trip because the signals were few and far between.   We were out on the very edge of the area where I couldn’t reach before, I received a nice low tone showing a couple inches down, brushed the sand away with my hand and there it was.  I estimate the ring was probably in six feet of water the first trip and I probably missed it by a couple of feet.  Unfortunately, this is a game of inches.  I turned the ring over to the insurance company and am hopeful the owners were able to work something out to get their original ring back.

Ring came off while pulling guts out of pumpkin, one shake of his hand sent it flying behind him.  After cutting down the grass and some plants owner was unable to find it.   Week later we were in touch and I was on my way to his house.  After searching one side of his yard where he expected it to be we came up empty.  Started up the other side of the sidewalk leading up to the house and ended up finding it about half-way.   Needless to say, it is going to be a Happy Halloween.

Owner lost in yard while playing with his dog.   He and his wife had it narrowed down to roughly an eight foot circle.  They spent several hours on their hands and knees looking through the grass.  I wish they were all this successful and quick,  after turning on my detector, a few steps and the first signal I had I reached down an pulled out his ring.  It was right were they had been looking, and this was no small ring.  Unbelievable how well hidden they are in the grass.

Ring was lost when it flew off owners finger while out enjoying a nice evening on the deck.  Due to the height of the deck the ring went some distance to the very back of the yard.   Search time was about 20-30 minutes due the owner’s good directions on which direction and how far he though it went.  Nice meeting Eric and glad we had a successful recovery, wish they all went as well as this one.

Valuable Diamond Ring Found Omaha, NE

While at work I received an unexpected phone call form an insurance agent asking if I was still looking for rings.  He then begins to tell me that he has a client who has lost a 3.4 carat diamond ring valued at $50,000 dollars and if I would be interested in looking for it, I think I said “yes”.  He put me in contact with his client and we arranged to meet that afternoon.

By the time 3 pm rolled around the weather had gone from sunny and 60 to raining and 50 degrees.   Unfortunately I had left the house without even a jacket.  A quick stop at the store and I had a  jacket off the clearance rack, a rain suit, and umbrella.  I met the owner at the soccer complex, with umbrellas in hand we went out to where she was at two nights ago.  After hearing her story I was confident it was lost on the complex and fairly confident nobody had simply picked it up.

She went on her way and I got geared up to begin the search.  The rain came and went but the temperature continued to drop.  I started my search along the sidewalk but stopped after about 30 feet.  With roughly 500 feet of sidewalk, a couple hundred sq ft of soccer field, and only a few hours to hunt.  I opted to concentrate around the soccer field where I figured she probably dropped it.  By the time I finished looking around the soccer field, my shoes and gloves were soaked and I was chilled to the bone.  I decided to warm up a bit and started covering the sidewalk on my way back to the car, deciding to skip the last field because there was a poor group of 10 year old girls playing in that miserable weather.

Looking out into the chilly haze I thought about giving it up for the evening.  Then my phone rang it was Joe, I had invited him to come along for the hunt.  He was all geared up and would be there in a couple of minutes…..great.   His enthusiasm would curtail after a couple hours in this miserable weather.  He started hunting the opposite side of the sidewalk on his way out back out to the soccer field, while I drove and hit up another clearance rack for a warmer shirt and dry socks.  We hunted another 2 hours, with his enthusiasm chilled we decided to quit for the evening.

I knew the last chance would be the following evening (Friday), on the weekend there would be a thousand people at these fields.  I started with the sidewalk again covering the little bit of area I skipped the night before.  Not more than 100 feet and 15 minutes, I had a good signal…. pulled back the grass and saw the shiny item I was searching for.  I immediately called the owner and let her know that I found something she might be interested in and made arrangements the following day to return it.  I then placed a call to the insurance company, I’m not sure which one was happier.

My daughter received a text one evening from her High School drama teacher, he had lost his wedding ring and was looking for anyone with a metal detector.  My daughter then turned to me and asked me if I would help him.  Of course I said yes, because that is what we do.  She replied back and arrangements were made for another student to come by at 6 am the next morning to lead me to Mr. M’s.

They were in the middle of building a new set for the next production at the high school so he only had until 7am before he had to be at the school for the kids.  I figured we would have enough time for him to show me the area he may have lost it.   It was still dark when we arrived, enough time to have a cup of coffee and get a little background information of what happened.  Turns out he was doing some clean-up in his garden when he noticed it was gone.

First light we went out to the yard, he lost it while pulling old plants and walking them a couple hundred feet to a dumpster.  He and his wife were up until 2 am with flashlights digging thru the dumpster and searching the yard looking for it.  It was when he walked to the middle of the yard and said I pulled the tomato plants and shook the dirt off of them here when I realized that would be my starting point.

I gave my pin-pointer to them to probe the flower garden, put my headphones on, and powered up.  I took 5 steps and had my first signal, used my detectors pin pointer looked down and I could see his ring.  When I looked over to them they all had their back’s turned towards me.  I said, “Hey Mr M.”   He turned around with a puzzled look on his face and walked over.  I looked down and said what’s that.  He looked down and didn’t see anything.  I moved my foot so my toe was pointing to it and said right there.   A grin came across his face when he quickly reached down and snatched up his ring!
